Your music is a very interesting mix of different styles. How came it to this? What was your intention?
At the beginning, les monstroplantes were a street brass
band. we met Lakaskad, our DJ, who brought the electronics things to our music. His influences like hip hop, drum&bass and electrofunk’s flavors mixed with the references of the original band contributed to get the definitive style called "drum&bRass" ! That’s why the monstroplante’s audience is very large, finding reggae or dub skanks, rhythm&blues, soul or jazz notes with the horns, hearin’ otis redding or zack de la Rocha influences in the voice of our singer Supajud.
In your Bio you write that you are goint to record your first album next time. Have you already started? Have you found a sponsor?
We are actually recording our first album. You’ll find it in France in summer 2010.
We don’t have any sponsors but we work like dogs to produce it. Our friends from the band “le peuple de l’herbe” help us, sharing their own recording studio : the Supadope Factory” in Lyon. We hope we could present the Album to the german audience very soon.
The people in Berlin are known as a little bit "tired" audience. (I don't know, but perhaps they have seen too many concerts?) What are you planning to suprise the people in Berlin?
We know the attachment from the german people for brass bands. Les Monstroplantes is a brass band of the 21th century. A sound that you never heard before and great musicians as well… You won’t believe it. The Band own a very special powerness that You can’t forget ! See you in Berlin on the 3rd November at Maschinenhaus. Peace !
