Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Javier here. I grew up in a little town called Carolina, in the small island of Puerto Rico. Needless to say, most people there to this day don't listen to rock music (or anything else in English for that matter). Thankfully I had cable t.v. so I was able to watch MTV and Head banger's ball! Back in the early eighties I was big into the glam scene (yikes!) and as a child I would fantasize about being in a band. Then when I first heard Nirvana at 13, it made me pick up a guitar and strive to make my dream a reality. The other two guys grew up in farms molesting animals, which would explain their erratic behavior.
Q: What made you realize that music was your path?
A: I realized music was my path when I was 20. Back when I first attempted to teach myself how to play it didn't really work out for me. After years of letting my guitar collect dust I decided to give it another shot, only this time I put my mind into it and started writing my own songs as opposed to to trying to play covers. At that point I knew it was the only thing in life that actually made me happy. (That and masturbating) My band mates are just in it for the ride though.
Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A: The music we create is very energetic. Very emotional. It depends on how I'm feeling at the moment. Usually though, I'm either sad or angry and its reflected on the music and the lyrics as well. Did I just say emotional? God I hate emo!
Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?
A: Even though my main inspiration is and always will be Kurt Cobain, I have never striven to sound or play like him at all. We always try to incorporate a piece of everyone else into our music though. Mainly bands like Alice in Chains, Tool, Chevelle, Deftones, Pantera, Incubus, Taproot and Rage against the Machine among others. Oh and Weird Al Yankovic.
Q: What makes your music unique?
A: As I mentioned previously, we try to take the things we like the most from our favorite bands and mix it all up into a new sound. We're like Snapple. Made from the best stuff on earth!
Q: Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you're most proud of?
A: Absolutely. That would have to be when we finally finished our first full length album back in 2004. We all feel very accomplished now but at the same time hungry anticipating what's next. Wait is that the next question?
Q: What's next for you?
A: Our goal is to continue to play as many times as we can, tour and record everything we've ever created. Even though this is a business, we started doing this for the art and the passion not to try to get rich quick or have groupies. Although it doesn't hurt either...
