I have started a podcast show called "TheBeatBoutique", please come and take a listen, call in and let your voice be heard!

Arguably the best-known Christian hymn is "Amazing Grace." Its text, a poem penned in 1772 by John Newton, describes the joy and peace of a soul uplifted from despair to salvation through the gift of grace. Newton's words are also a vivid autobiographical commentary on how he was spared from both physical and spiritual ruin. It relates the happy ending of the tale of a defiant man who manages again and again to escape danger, disease, abuse, and death, only to revert to "struggles between sin and conscience."

I didn't need to read anymore after that, but check it out it's a good read. It makes this seemingly boring song come to life. Newton wrote about a life that he lived where he escaped many of the things people then and now face. All of his words are powerful, right from the beginning to the end.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

He starts off by paying homage to the grace that he found that saved him. There is power in words and there is power in believing "those" words. When I read the history of this song, it really started to come together for me personally. I don't if it's because I recently started going to church or because I'm getting older (you know how old people get-LOL). I recognize that I have been blessed and I have not had to overcome as much as Newton did, but a person's struggles can only be measured by that individual. With the good, comes the bad but if you hold tight to what you believe in, the bad wont seem so bad and the good will turn into GREAT. That's what the creation of Amazing Grace is about for me. Like me, Newton's religious beliefs initially lacked conviction. It's so funny to me how much I can relate to this guy, but I was born Baptized and raised Catholic. I laugh when I tell people that because the fact is, I grew up with all of these teachings and morals and still lacked self-control and discipline (If you read the link, you'll find that Newton was the same). How is that possible? I dunno, but it is...I'm living proof. I guess Newton's motto was "What doesn't kill me can only make me stronger" because he escaped death numerous times in his life. I've never escaped death, but I have been in situations that I didn't know how I would recover from...but something spared me.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

Lately, I have been trying to figure out some things about life, love and everything in between. And every time I try to find an answer a song will play in my mind or ironically come thru my ears...Music has such an incredible hold on me. It keeps me sane when I want to go crazy, it keeps me hole when I feel like I'm being torn apart. Every melody I play and with every score I create just know that this is who I is, was and will be.

This is the Creation of Amazing Grace....
