“This is a matter of Homeland Security at the most basic level.
Our increasingly globalized food supply chain, where anything goes in
order to make a buck, is putting our entire nation’s health at risk,”
said Fred Stokes, president of the CPA.
At a news conference in Ames, Iowa, Stokes provided reporters with a
glimpse of the problem by displaying print-outs of U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) import refusals from China and Mexico for the past
12 months. The display of rejected food and pharmaceutical exports from
China totaled 186 pages, while rejected exports from Mexico, our NAFTA
trading partner, totaled 154 pages. End to end, the pages of FDA
rejections of imports from China and Mexico over a year’s time would
span across a football field.



Thousands of refusal reports in the FDA database show exports to the
United States from China include food products described as
“poisonous” and “filthy.” In many instances pesticides contaminated
produce and veterinary drug residue was found in seafood.



Numerous FDA import refusals state Chinese and Mexican exports are
found to be contaminated with potentially life-threatening bacteria and
residues. Here are some examples of what has been found in just a
fraction of our food imports in the past year:



*  Salmonella, the leading cause of food borne illness death in the
United States, was found in seafood, frozen frog legs, frozen rabbits,
dried pepper powder and dog chews from China. Salmonella was found in
lobster tails, shrimp, fresh cooked crab meat, chocolate candies,
cantaloupes, pumpkin seeds, cilantro cooking sauce, instant tea, rice
flour, ground guajillo pepper, oregano, fresh basil, and several types
of tea from Mexico.  

*  Listeria, food borne bacteria that can cause stillbirths among
pregnant women was found in frozen cooked craw fish from China, while it
was found in mahi mahi ceviche , avocado pulp and “organic” zesty
guacamole imported from Mexico.

*  Aflatoxin, a toxic substance which can cause liver cancer or
cirrhosis was found on red melon seed from China and Japanese-style
peanuts, pumpkin seeds and .

*  Nitrofuran, a suspected cancer-causing agent, was found in shrimp imports from China.

*  Pesticide residue was found on fresh ginger, frozen sugar snap peas,
pea pods, frozen blackberries, ginseng powder, and lotus root from
China. Fresh tomatoes, turnip greens, hot peppers, papaya, fresh
squash, Japanese eggplant

Here is another horror story

Melamine - ordinarily used to make plastics, fertilizer and cleaning agents -
was added to milk by unscrupulous processors because its high nitrogen content
registers as protein during testing. It has been found in everything from baby
formula to chocolate bars to biscuits. It has also been detected in eggs,
traced to chicken feed. In high concentrations, melamine can cause kidney
stones and even renal failure.


While 22 dairy companies are implicated in the milk scandal, which broke last
September, the Sanlu executives are so far the only ones charged. This leaves
skeptics wondering whether Chinese officials are not once again up to their old
scapegoating tricks: a huge scandal breaks, a few unlucky culprits fall and
then it is business as usual as the corrupt system keeps chugging along. Is
this another version of the same old rotten story?

The record shows that consumer complaints of tainted baby formula and sick and
dying children started last May, but Sanlu did not submit a written report to
the government of Hebei province's capital city, Shijiazhuang, where the
company is headquartered, until early August. And it was a month later before
Shijiazhuang officials blew the whistle that attracted the central government's
- and then the world's - attention.




Does anyone smell a cover-up, given the events happened to correspond with the
Beijing Summer Olympic Games, held August 8 to 24? After all, it is impossible
to overestimate the importance of the Olympics to the Chinese leadership and to
the nation as a whole. It was the country's international coming-out party, and
toxic milk and dead and sick children definitely would have spoiled that
celebration.


.The corruption runs too embarrassingly deep to be
fully accounted for by all of the many individuals involved. The list of
culprits would go on and on, and trials would stretch out for years.



But this is not the first time China has pledged to reform its food-safety
record. There were similar promises in 2007 after pet food tainted with
melamine killed or sickened thousands of cats and dogs in the US. And there
have been other scandals involving toys coated in lead paint, toxic toothpaste,
exploding automobile tires and more.




While there is no question that the vast majority of Chinese-made products are
safe, there are clearly big cracks in the regulatory system that have caused
the Made in China label to take a battering over the past several years.




Those cracks are still there.




In the wake of the milk scandal last year, the chemical additive was found in
chicken feed and eggs. More recently, it was discovered in 1,500 boxes of
biscuits intended for export to Hong Kong and Singapore. But the good news is,
this time the tainted product was discovered (and destroyed) before it was
exported

Gentlemen:

In response to your request to contact legislators and ask for a
bailout for the Big Three automakers please consider the following, and
please pass my thoughts on to Troy Clark, President of General Motors
North America.

Politicians and Management of the Big 3 are both infected with the same
entitlement mentality that has spread like cancerous germs in UAW halls
for the last countless decades, and whose plague is now sweeping this
nation, awaiting our new "messiah", Pres-elect Obama, to wave his magic
wand and make all our problems go away, while at the same time allowing
our once great nation to keep "living the dream"... Believe me folks,
The dream is over!

This dream where we can ignore the consumer for years while management
myopically focuses on its personal rewards packages at the same time
that our factories have been filled with the world's most overpaid,
arrogant, ignorant and laziest entitlement minded "laborers" without
paying the price for these atrocities...this dream where you still think
the masses will line up to buy our products for ever and ever.

Don't even think about telling me I'm wrong.  Don't accuse me of not
knowing of what I speak.  I have called on Ford, GM, Chrysler, TRW,
Delphi, Kelsey Hayes, American Axle and countless other automotive OEM's
throughout the Midwest during the past 30 years and what I've seen over
those years in these union shops can only be described as disgusting.

Troy Clarke, President of General Motors North America, states: "There
is widespread sentiment throughout this country, and our government, and
especially via the news media, that the current crisis is completely the
result of bad management which it certainly is not."

You're right Mr. Clarke,  it's not JUST management...how about the
electricians who walk around the plants like lords in feudal times,
making people wait on them for countless hours while they drag ass...so
they can come in on the weekend and make double and triple time...for a
job they easily could have done within their normal 40 hour work week.
How about the line workers who threaten newbies with all kinds of scare
tactics...for putting out too many parts on a shift...and for being too
productive

(We certainly must not expose those lazy bums who have been getting
overpaid for decades for their horrific underproduction, must we?!?)

Do you folks really not know about this stuff?!?  How about this great
sentiment abridged from Mr.  Clarke's sad plea: "over the last few years
...we have closed the quality and efficiency gaps with our competitors."
What the hell has Detroit been doing for the last 40 years?!?  Did we
really JUST wake up to the gaps in quality and efficiency between us and
them?  The K car vs.  the Accord?  The Pinto vs.  the Civic?!?  Do I
need to go on?  What a joke!

We are living through the inevitable outcome of the actions of the
United States auto industry for decades.  It's time to pay for your
sins, Detroit.

I attended an economic summit last week where brilliant economist, Alan
Beaulieu, from the Institute of Trend Research, surprised the crowd when
he said he would not have given the banks a penny of "bailout money".
"Yes, he said, this would cause short term problems," but despite what
people like politicians and corporate magnates would have us believe,
the sun would in fact rise the next day... and the following very
important thing would happen...where there had been greedy and sloppy
banks, new efficient ones would pop up...that is how a free market
system works...it does work...if we would only let it work..."

But for some nondescript reason we are now deciding that the rest of
the world is right and that capitalism doesn't work - that we need the
government to step in and "save us"...Save us my ass, Hell - we're
nationalizing...and unfortunately too many of our once fine nation's
citizens don't even have a clue that this is what is really
happening...But, they sure can tell you the stats on their favorite
sports teams...yeah - THAT'S really important, isn't it...

Does it ever occur to ANYONE that the "competition" has been producing
vehicles, EXTREMELY PROFITABLY, for decades in this country?...  How can
that be???

Let's see...
Fuel efficient...
Listening to customers...
Investing in the proper tooling and automation for the long haul...

Not being too complacent or arrogant to listen to Dr. W. Edwards Deming
four decades ago when he taught that by adopting appropriate principles
of management, organizations could increase quality and simultaneously
reduce costs. Ever increased productivity through quality and
intelligent planning... Treating vendors like strategic partners, rather
than like "the enemy"... Efficient front and back offices... Non union
environment...

Again, I could go on and on, but I really wouldn't be telling anyone
anything they really don't already know down deep in their hearts.

I have six children, so I am not unfamiliar with the concept of wanting
someone to bail you out of a mess that you have gotten yourself into -
my children do this on a weekly, if not daily basis, as I did when I was
their age.  I do for them what my parents did for me (one of their
greatest gifts, by the way) - I make them stand on their own two feet
and accept the consequences of their actions and work through it.
Radical concept, huh... Am I there for them in the wings?  Of course -
but only until such time as they need to be fully on their own as
adults.

I don't want to oversimplify a complex situation, but there certainly
are unmistakable parallels here between the proper role of parenting and
government.  Detroit and the United States need to pay for their sins.
Bad news people - it's coming whether we like it or not. The newly
elected Messiah really doesn't have a magic wand big enough to "make it
all go away."  I laughed as I heard Obama "reeling it back in" almost
immediately after the final vote count was tallied..."we really might
not do it in a year...or in four..." Where the Hell was that kind of
talk when he was RUNNING for office.

Stop trying to put off the inevitable folks ... That house in Florida
really isn't worth $750,000... People who jump across a border really
don't deserve free health care benefits... That job driving that
forklift for the Big 3 really isn't worth $85,000 a year... We really
shouldn't allow Wal-Mart to stock their shelves with products acquired
from a country that unfairly manipulates their currency and has the most
atrocious human rights infractions on the face of the globe...

That couple whose combined income is less than $50,000 really shouldn't
be living in that $485,000 home... Let the market correct itself folks -
it will.  Yes it will be painful, but it's gonna' be painful either way,
and the bright side of my proposal is that on the other side of it all,
is a nation that appreciates what it has...and doesn't live beyond its
means...and gets back to basics...and redevelops the patriotic work
ethic that made it the greatest nation in the history of the world...and
probably turns back to God.

Sorry - don't cut my head off, I'm just the messenger sharing with you
the "bad news". I hope you take it to heart.

Nowhere or at no other time in our Nation's history, did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German, Portuguese, Greek, or any other language  because of immigration. It was written in English, adapted into French, and should be sung  word for word the way it was written.
 The news broadcasts even gave the Hindi version translation - which was not even close to our National Anthem.
I am not the least bit sorry if this offends ANYONE, this is MY
COUNTRY; My Grand Dad served in the military, other family members also
served, as well as my wife & I served a combined total of 56 years
between us. We made many sacrifices for our country and do not feel we
should feel obligated to allow invited people we've welcomed with open
arms to influence & change our society to better resemble the one
they chose to leave to come here!!! - IF YOU AGREE ABOUT THIS

Today I have to write about some things on my mind. Things I usually just take for granted as we all do.  I am ashamed to say that, but it is true. And I know I am not the only one that does this, but how many of you reading are willing to admit it.

 There are things we do not want to think about, or know about, but we need to step up and give respect!!

We all get up in the morning or sometime during the day, grab our newspapers at our front doors while our coffee is brewing. At this time we are not thinking bombs or dieing or other atrocities occuring at that very moment..

We are lucky to be living in countries that we can take these little things for granted..Blessing of freedom, that we take for granted but many soldiers have given their lives for we could enjoy ours.

I guess by now you can sort of figure what I am talking about and that my friends

 Our Military..the Soldiers that fight and protect, not only us and our freedoms, but also against other atrocities that are committed by so called civil societies around the world..The forgotten ones who made our countries great that have given their lives so we are free to speak and not get mowed down like the masses in Tieneman Square that the Communist are trying so hard for us to forget~sigh~..brutal massacre..for what??? The right to speak?...

Out of sight out of mind~sigh~ sadly that is what our Military have become..we do not see what these brave souls actually go through so we don't think.

I know years ago when at Community College there was a older guy that had just came back from Vietnam and me being young and stupid asked him why did they kill kids too..He looked me straight in the eye..I had never seen anything before like it..his eyes glazed over, grew dark and misted with only what I could call aa deep sadness and I saw something I never thought or ever imagined I cod see in someones eyes. Torment and anguish literally being torn apart inside out and knowing no one really understood that was not over in one of these war ravaged countries. I will never forget that look as long as I live. It dug deep into my soul and when I heard him speak..I understood~sigh~

What most of us fail to understand that as soon as a child is old enough to hold a gun in these countries they do, and kill our soldiers..This technique works fairly well as our soldiers have heart and feel deeply for kids and woman and life period...

We always have been taught the value of life, and how fragile it is. We nuture our young teaching them morality and every life is precious, but the mentality of these worn torn countries is different. As soon as they walk they are taught to shoot or that growing up to be a suicide bomber is doing what their god wants..These young children and woman are taught deceit and ways to kill the enemy. Hate is the only life these kids are taught. They do not grow up with any self worth other than to die for their god..Brainwashing at its best~sigh~

Genocide...Mass Torture(rape, brutal slaughter) these are only a couple of things our Soldiers fight to stop. Right now I am getting too emotional to get much deeper but I know you understand. So I will try to switch gears and get on with what I am trying to point out..

In Ontario there is a highway of which I am proud of our government has renamed to honor our brave fallen soldiers that have made  of us so proud with their courage..

The stretch of Highway 401 running from Trenton, Ont., to Toronto will be officially renamed the Highway of Heroes in remembrance of Canada's fallen soldiers.

There is an over pass on this highway, that when a fallen soldier comes home this is the final trek they make home and there are thousands that set up on this overpass to show respect and honour when these heroes pass. We need to see more of this.

Families of Military also need to be shown same respect and honour. We all need to support Soldiers and their families, whether we believe in war or not..That is not our call nor is it our right to judge..We can agree or disagree because these brave souls gave their very lives for us to have that right and that is what we do not know or want to know..We have a opinion because we were given that right to speak.

Ok you are probably by now wondering why I write this with such strong feelings~sigh~ well to be honest its a couple of things that have spurned me on for the last couple of weeks.

So I will start writing the why's in no particular order but I am pretty passionate and pissed at stupidity..

I have to wonder how much our schools our teaching our youth the importance our soldiers made in WW1 and WW2?   Because if our youth was being taught these values what the hell is going on???

I have started playing a game mobsters in here and i enjoy it but I enjoy the people I am getting the opportunity to meet more..Alot of the people that play are military families and our soldiers you get a different view of things..The dedication to each other..the fierce loyalty I am so proud to be accepted as their friends.

Now the next bunch I will talk about are the stupid and uninformed that have no clue as to what real war is or why it happens. I blame schools and government and parent for not teaching their children how this country became what it is and who gave their lives for what they take for granted.

Mobsters is a game..fantasy yes but it does have redeeming qualities..you can learn to earn money invest in property and these are values we need to understand especially in this day and age..Youth that do not want to pay attention in school need examples and yes some of you out there are saying "ok she is a crack head" violent game to teach values..Well I challenge each and every parent to try this game and make an informed decision..As we all know it is getting harder to teach youth values so this is just another alternative to do such..To invest wisely..watch your money grow with using your mind.

I find the youth on this game have absolutely no clue as to what soldiers really are or have done or are doing~sigh~...

I also find families that have immigrated from these worn torn countries and earn their living in our country and enjoy the benefits our soldiers have fought for seem to be the first to condemn our soldiers and fighting...This is a disgrace!!!!!! It seems these people are the first to point fingers and say we are wrong but what are they doing except pushing their religous and cultural values down our throats at every given opportunity. And we wonder why the youth is so messed up~sigh~

An example was a couple of years ago in a city just outside of Toronto there was a huge Non Christian poplulation and thats ok but every year our veterans give out poppies to commerate our fallen soldiers..These veterans have there boxes do not bother anyone always have a smile and offer these poppies...you can donate or they will just give you one for free..no questions asked..well make a long story short these people tried to have this banned as it did not honour their veterans..god give me strength..if you feel that strongly about a Canadian tradition go back to India or where ever..we do not put your cultyre down so step away from our traditions..

Multiculturalism, hmmm I used to be proud of~sigh~ but sadly I am not now..Yes there are alot of people from other countries glad to be here and uphold tradition and values but there is an ever increasing number that want us to conform to their beliefs..I call that bullying!!!

Last year a judge ordered a Xmas tree be taken down from a court house because some found it offensive...I find this OFFENSIVE! This is canada we respect your rights stop stomping on ours because all that is happening is people like me that used to support other cultures I am now getting more and more predudiced each and every day..

Another example is a memorial with Fallen heroes names was desecrated and what happened to the offending parties..I really don't know but I would love to made them clean memorial every day for the rest of their lives with a toothbrush..We need to be more forcefull because tollerance has not worked and I am sick of being shit on..

Do you realize our military do not just go to war..Toronto was a Military City when sars came via China and their help allowed us to maintain the spread of this killer disease from being the next great plague of North America..And who is called in to disasters? Katrina or any of the others???

Today is going to be another ground breaking day for me as I delve into emotions that have been so hidden and protected from the world, just as I have been, and lately I have realized the same thing has touched so many other woman. We sit it in our pretty, shiny bottles ,corked as not to let anyone really get close or touch, and god forbid somehow get in.  We always have our armor ready, and clam up like a turtle if some one enters our personal space. we instintively retreat to what has become our normal way of life..

Some of us are lucky enough to find cyberspace, as we feel we are protected and anonomous. ...We spend hours and days upon weeks... Some of us are lucky to start talking to some "real people"...And some of us are blessed with finding our soulmates...

Cyberspace is somewhere that is filled with alot of people that will do you harm, some stalk and bully, because they feel they have power online and anounimity behind a monitor..Where as they would not have the guts to actually do any of this but they get off with the fear they project upon us...So being careful. cautious is the only way to be. And some are really sick that would do harm if they had chance so watch and stay anonomous ..The most sacred rule of online is cover and protect who you really are until you know who exactly you are dealing with..Like where someone works, references...where they live..even get them to send a copy of liceanse and then and only then reveal yourself.Its only the last few months I have used my first real name I will never ever use my last name online...ever!   Except to friends I know are true and are real and I have found some on my space that are exactly that...real!

Now you are probably asking yourself what has made alot of woman turn to cyberspace for friends..Is it because they are gross beyond belief??? NO!..Is it because they are stupid and not able to communicate face to face with the opposite sex?? NO AGAIN!..Is it that we feel everyone is out to get us and need to feel safe?? Uh Yup especialy from the opposite sex..

Now you are still wondering, why I haven't answered why?   Well its not a one word answer but it touches deep inside where we are the most vulnerable..

The reason is because some men that are stronger than us woman have forced their unwanted penises and bodies upon us woman,  not asking but forcefully violating us...These cowardly, sick, macho men love the violence and brutality of ripping our underwear off and savagely forcing their penis inside us ..Shattering our worlds in ways that only someone that has gone throught the experience can understand,

It changes us and who were are and who we were..

I was one of these woman, but not really a woman when it happened..I was a 16 year old virgin and it destroyed me..It was my supposed boyfriend who was a "jock" and felt that somehow should make me feel honoured...What a friggin pig~sigh~..I am not going to go into detail because that is not what I want to dwell on but I do want to dwell*bs*...

Almost 14 years ago to the day my brother hooked up online..It was 8$ a hour for dial up but well worth while..I found drawn to the internet for news and then I found chat rooms..

Actually back them it was a little safer because not everyone had computer or internet access mainly just business people and dorks(whom I love by the way).

The chat rooms were made of mostly real people.This was my salvation..I spent hours upon hours making friends and having fun feeling safe and secure behind my monitor..then I met him..I just did not know it at first..We were two lonely people and all he wanted to do was help everyone else with their problems, but I would not let him away with that..I made him talk as well..took awhile but the floodgates on both ends broke and we grew...

We met each other online every spare moment..and when we couldn't we would write long emails...talking about our most inner thoughts..things we both thought we would never share with another...kind of reminds me of the love letters people long ago wrote to each other....it was and is, what I feel a most beautiful love story the many ups and downs..the difficulties of maintaining this kind of relationship...the joy of making it through it all no matter what the odds..and yes, I have written a book about the whole 14 years... I have not heard from publisher as yet but I am hoping..and if not I still don't care because I am happy and actually see a future..

I know I have found my soulmate and my soulmate knows the same..Odds are the distance we live from each other would have made it almost improbable to have found each other any other way..I can be me with him and vice versa..I tell him the truth good bad or otherwise and he does the same...The internet brought soulmates together..do I think we may have been together in another life..Yup as crazy as it soundsI do believe that somehow is true..

hmm by now you are probably scratching your head wondering why I have written this today...Well I want it to be encouragement for some that they can pop their cork and live again..escape from their gilted bottle....When you find your true soulmate do not waste as many years as I have...

Last thought for the day online always always be careful...But do not be afraid to open yourself to friendship you never know what you will find..
