Just an update of what's happening...
My debut stand up DVD comes out on Nov 16th; it's called 'Rhod Gilbert and the Award-wining Mince Pie'.  You can pre-order it cheaper right now on Amazon or Play.com, or buy it in a shop then.  Alternatively, you can not buy it at all.

I'm currently on tour with the new show 'RG and the cat that looked like Nicholas Lyndhurst'; not many tickets left for 2009, but the Spring 2010 leg of the tour is now on sale, with loads of dates all over the UK and ending with more dates at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.  Full tour dates and ticket info is on my main page.

Oh yeah, and tv wise I'm hosting 'Never mind the buzzocks' on BBC2 this Thursday.

Meanwhile on radio, my regular show is on BBC Radio Wales, Sat mornings 11-1pm, with the podcast available at bbc.co.uk/radiowales

Cheers if you read this far

8PM - THURSDAY 18TH & FRIDAY 19TH JUNE 2009

RHOD GILBERT AND THE AWARD-WINNING MINCE PIE

Following last year’s sell-out tour and sensational performances on ‘The Royal Variety Performance’, and ‘Live At The Apollo’, the Welsh Wonder performs his if.comedy nominated show at the Bloomsbury for 2 nights only,  for DVD release in the Autumn.  Truly one of the hottest names in comedy, don’t miss the opportunity to be in the live audience of Rhod’s first DVD release – and to see the last performances of this critically acclaimed, legendary show!

TOTAL SELL-OUT, EDINBURGH 2005 /2006 / 2007 / 2008

A service station somewhere.  Christmas 2007. About 2.40am.  Rhod Gilbert finds himself standing in the coffee shop bit, armed with a travel pillow, a flask and a very powerful torch, aggressively demanding to know more about an 'Award-Winning Mince Pie' on display on the counter.

Suddenly aware of what he is doing, Rhod is forced to acknowledge that he may be having a very mild nervous breakdown.   How did it come to this?  He doesn’t even like Mince Pies.  The pressures of living in a tedious, pointless and absurd world surrounded by idiots have finally taken their toll.

Perhaps he should never have left his fantasy world of Llanbobl in the first place.

This is the slightly ridiculous story of how one Mince Pie broke the camel’s back

VOTE FOR RHOD IN THE CHORTLE COMEDY AWARDS (www.chortle.co.uk)

More good news in 2009
To add to his IF.COM nomination for 'Best Show' at the Edinburgh fringe in 2008, and after clearing up at the Time Out comedy awards in December ('Comic of the Year', 'Best Breakthrough Act' and 'Best Show'), Rhod started 2009 with a nomination by The Times newspaper for this year's South Bank Show Awards. Now Rhod has grabbed another two nominations in the Chortle awards.

The Chortle awards are one of the comedy industry's most prestigious awards, and winners are decided by public vote, so get voting now....please.

Polls close at 3pm on February 12 2009.

The awards, now in their eighth year, will be hosted by Frank Skinner in central London on February 24.

Happy New Year!

Good news to start 2009 - Rhod Gilbert has been nominated by The Times newspaper for this year's South Bank Show Awards – in the Breakthrough Award category.  It's an award that is voted for by the readers of the newspaper and it is the only award at the event that is judged by a public vote.  The selection is made by The Times arts critics and each nominee is selected on the basis of their achievements over the past year, and for making a significant impact in their field.   There are 10 nominees for this award, each one from a different genre including TV Drama, Classical Music, Pop Music, Visual Art, Comedy, Dance, Film, Literature, Opera and Theatre.

Please feel free to vote for Rhod.  Should you wish to do so, here is the all important link….

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 20th January 2009, when Melvyn Bragg will be hosting the 13th annual South Bank Show Awards at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Thanks in advance!
