Current mood:  calm

Meadows is a piece that was heavily (though not entirely) motivated by the recent decision I've made to drop my Law degree in Sunny Swansea and move back permanently to Liverpool, to study Philosophy.

Before I left one of my friends tore up grass from the University Lawn and put it in my suitcase as a keepsake.. I thought it merited something written about it.

A few seconds skip in the middle of it.. so you miss about a line of prose, but I'm sure you'll manage. Im certainly not recording it all again =P

Enjoy!

This is a lovely song, I've covered Iron and Wine's cover of the song. I've picked soem chords I foudn on t'internet, and put an additional layer on top of some acoustic solo-ing.. Its mostly improvisational so its a bit messy here and there..

But its a touch of personality. Sorry about the vocals, or if anybody feels like I've destroyed the song =P But I figure if I dont start posting things and get slated for it I'll never improve.

Hope you enjoy nevertheless

This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness

Chairs and Ladders is a bit of a coming of age story... In case you hadn't noticed I've picked the guitar work Jeff Buckley performs in "Hallelujah". It seemed to fit the mood of the work pretty well..

Sorry the quality is a bit fuzzy again. Im slowly discovering how to decrease it!

Hope you enjoy!

Okays I abandoned my attempts at getting Moonshiner to upload.. It was too long and the quality was even fuzzier than normal.

But I've replaced it now with "Only You".. A very famous and popular song, my cover is influenced mostly by Joshua Radin.. At least vocally. I obviously cant lay claim to the words or melody

The picking behind it *is* however my own work, having to work off some rather naff internet chords. Its a gorgey song and I love it... Hopefully it'll be as relaxing as I intend it to be.

Please enjoy =] And If you want comment, even if its to criticize.. Otherwise I'll never learn!

"Dear...Somebody" is the latest prose/instrumental work I've done.

It originated from a letter, I wrote about 1am with a person in mind, but a few days later, (when I remembered it) I couldn't remember who I wrote it to. I was so tired at the time =P.

Anyways that's what made the prose for me, the mysteriousness..

The instrumental behind it is me playing (with an echoey effect for the first time), but its a sort of retake on Dire Straits "Private Investigations" at the beginning.. before I start improvising.. because I cant play all of "Private Investigations".. But thought I ought to state clearly its not all my own work behind there..

Anyways enjoy!

Current mood:  artistic
I thought it'd be a wise idea to mention a little bit about each of the tracks that appear on the myspace, and this blog will serve that purpose, and as such will be updated now and then. It means I can also give credit to any artists who's songs I cover..  and talk a little about them myself

"All the heavens"- Is a picking track I recorded, originally the music from this was written by Mac Powell of "Third Day." It also happens to be one of the few hymns that I enjoy and does anything for me. For lyrics (because its obviously unsung click the song tab)

"Lift up your legs"- This is the result of my first foray into the spoken poetry/acoustic scene. The words and music were written and created by me, after wondering what a person would think about in their last few moments alive in the world. Cheery

"You're on the Right"- Whilst being a firm advocate of political option, and respecting the right of people to  have a political bias, this song represents my.. lack of understanding... for extreme right wing politics. This is a grossly exxagerrated and negative image of right wingers.. and hopefully in saying this it wont be taken offensively to anyone.

"Swinter- Its a happy poem, in the spirit of life and joy and things.. Again the words and music are my own work. It's about how some days you just wake up and feel happy for no real reason... and I was inspired by it when I watched a pizza-box flapping in the wind.. and thought it was like a lame butterfly trying to get off the ground. *listens for vomiting sounds*. I know... It's very American-Beauty-esque but it touched me. The title came from my girlfriend, and if you hadn't realised is a mix of the words "Summer" and "Winter".

Well the first tracks up, Its a cover of "Golden Touch" By Razorlight. Its basically me and Martin (technical genius) attempting to get our heads around the recording equipment which is after all, pretty advanced.

Never the less, Marty acheived it. And I, as usual, had a limited idea of what was going on. But I played when he told me to.. We added a "bass" (well a gained-up guitar) behind the track as well, which is unusual, because neither of us are bass players..

We recorded the verses and chorus seperately, and the bass section seperately again. And tried to blend it all together so its a bit unsmooth so far but it's all in the name of experimentation. I'll have an acoustic song up soon I promise, seen as it's my primary instrument...

Until then, hopefully in the next day or two, adios!

Right then, I finally got around to doing this profile.

This is really for anyone visiting, (who decides to read the blogs on artist sites..) to explain I'm not going to have any songs on probably for about a week while I get some recording equipment set up.

But do visit back!
