First off thanks to all of you for making our run of summer shows a rockin' (some may say drunken) good time. We appreciate all the love and support. That being said you have one more chance to catch us live this saturday july 25th at doc ryans in forest park. (its on madison). We go on at 9pm. This is our last show of the summer as we will be recording our long awaited second album come august.  the recording process begins august 21st.  If you don't hear from us for a little while, don't worry, we will be back quite soon. So keep a close eye (and ear) open for the record release show. (we're now on twitter as well). It will be a can't miss event, I assure you.
Thanks again everyone... The Dirty Rooks

Here's the translated text from a reviewer in Germany who recently bought 15 (!) copies of our first CD (2007, self-titled).  We skirt!  Enjoy...
The Dirty Rooks are extremely good of buddy of the Southern /Blues /Jam formation The Steepwater volume estimated so loved in our circles and - for us always a reason to take it somewhat more exactly under the magnifying glass. We did that, them for good (no strongly, very strongly!) found, and finally its great Debutalbum for our Mailorder organizes. Like the Steepwater volume also the Dirty Rooks comes from Chicago/Illinois. And like your friends the musical roots lie " Rooks" in the late 60s and early 70s. " They have A pure, classic skirt sound with some strong blues influence" , it means in a US-Review, which the case is indeed clear. But we define it times somewhat more exactly: The quartet, consisting of the two class guitarists Grant Gholson and Dan Stalilonis (at the same time also a prima Lead singer), Ben hard at the bass and Rev. Nathan Urqhuart at the Drums, plays a marvelously rauen, blunt, dirty, very competent Blues based Classic skirt, times loud rumbling, times with feeling, times rootsig drying, so that an uncommonly rotzige, full of seeds mixture from the influences of the Faces, The Black Crowes, which Rolling Stones and The volume develop, " partly enriched with a breath of Psychedelia and a knalligen; Beat /Blues" - Touch. All they generate that with the authentic " Chicago Booze skirt Sound" to their completely own identity. Many the song fulfill the area with " Dunst" more verrauchter, more schäbiger " get in the embankment bar where people have the greatest times OF their lives". Or like it a further US fan describes: " Good time skirt and roll - and it does emergency GET any more whiskier than this"! The whole is much retro, in addition, " much; hip" - wants to be called, everything else as " verstaubt" and in the Siebrigern stand remained.
The Dirty Rooks is young, unspent and transports their influences and Retro plants completely informally into the today's time. Dull/musty one, pumping bass notes, slowly using, (still) relatively dezentes Drumming, halliger, cool, psychedelic angehauchter singing, then suddenly a few full of seeds of reef, which thing louder, a classical Bluesrock Feeling spreads, which singing immediately accompanied by a spicy E-guitar, a short " Schreien" , an abrupt speed change, the singer goes again fully out of itself raus, an official drive, few short, furiose guitar rides - a conclusion! In approximately is the temporal operational sequence of the quite short (2.47), for it however the more varied splendour Openers " WAD, bath, and dangerous tons know". The volume demonstrates immediately, what has it drauf that her the Rock' n roll heart at the right mark carries, which Blues in the blood has - and impudently and ungezwungen straight on plays. Class!
From similar caliber also TRACK is Nr.2: " Strawman" is a brilliant, ruppiger, rotziger, psychedelic, Blues soaked Classic Rocker of full fires and spice. Few class a twin Licks and a furioses start to hunt virtuoses guitar-solo from the boxes with schwerblütigen reef, in order to put in the BREAK the switch down on Boogie speed, before one finally returns again to the original navigable water. A strong appearance! The following thing " NO mercy" sounds, as if it rose from a common session of the Black Crowes and Rolling Stones. Dry ones, straighte of reef, wonderful rootsig bluesige guitar lines, a little Piano Geklimper and a prima melody are added. The late briefly using Bläser disturb in keinster way, but kindle additional fire. Mad guitar-solo in the center!
Absolutely worth mentioning are besides such class of song like the marvelous, much after reserved Stones and The volume sounding Rootsrocker " Little queen" (strong piano and countrybluesige Harp company), which magnificent, very emotional and intensively presented, energy-loaded, again a beautiful Retro Psychedelic Feeling spreading (Slow) Blues enriched with mad guitar runs " Leave me" , sharp-edged and rotzig ballernde guitar Kracher " All that you are" and the great, melodische, bluesige, with fine Dobro and organ Fills provided, semi acoustic root Ballade " Devil' s song" , again with Reminiszensen at The volume, The Black Crowes or Chris Robinson' s of solo works.
This volume is valid to keep it in the eye. They will play approximately a daily no longer only in the clubs in and around Chicago, but national and international catch my shank will have, like their friends of the Steepwater volume. The foundation-stone for it is put with this strong Debut anyhow. The Dirty Rooks skirt!

Answer to Question 1: The famous
all-female Led Zeppelin cover band.

Answer to Question 2:

We do loves the ladies.

...and what greater ladies (wives, fiances, and paramours
excluded) could we hope to love more than an all-girl Led Zeppelin
tribute band.  That's right folks, we've the glorious honor of opening
for Lez Zeppelin (get it?) on Saturday, April 4th, at the Double Door.
You'll recall how big our last trip to the Double Door was and
apparently with your support, we managed to get an invite back.  Very
cool.

This is, of course, a very special night where, while all of us
will no doubt be feeling the noize; it will be the Girls who are
rockin' the Boys.

We'll get wild, wild, wild.  I'm not sure if I've stated this clearly enough for you... We're gonna get wild.

The big band will be there and it's the f-ing Double Door, so
there is no reason not to come, unless maybe you don't like girls...
Wow, that's terrible, Girls are awesome. As this is such a big act,
getting in will cost $20, but think of it as the best $20 you've ever
spent in your life. Ever.

Showtime is 9. Can't wait to see you there.

We are the Mother-F*@#in'
Superiors of your Rock 'n Roll Abbey.  Now we're taking that
designation that we've bestowed on ourselves, through you, and giving
it to the Abbey Pub to use for the night. We're going to be playing the
Abbey Pub, this Friday, Feb 27th at 8pm.  I assure it is 8pm.  I have a
big test the next day and I am not staying out late.

Despite my academic integrity and my high regard for educational
pursuits, Rock 'n Roll will happen and there's nothing any of us can do
about it, least of all The Dirty Rooks.  The reasons for this are many,
but at the forefront of this charge is the fact that we're opening
for a couple acts with a country music bent, and while it's vital
that we respect our roots, our fellow musicians (who at this show
happen to be very hot), and the brotherhood of Man, it is also vital
that we kick sand in their faces and scuff up their cowboy boots...
with music.  We are compelled to assert the glory of Booze Rock as it
makes its triumphant assent to the Mountain of Awesome where we will
accept the 10 Commandments of Face-melting and Ass-Kicking.  I'm mixing
my religious metaphors here, but this is really more of a spiritual
exercise for you so get off my back and line up your f-in' shockras!

For those of you greedy bastards who require a fuller plate of
Rock and Roll than the ample serving to be provided you on the 27th, we
will cram your gluttonous faces with a second helping of Bluesy Rock
and Roll the following night... In SOUTH BEND, INDIANA!  Yes that's
right.  You heard me.  Two states in Two dates.  Eat it, everyone else.
We'll be playing @ Corby's Bar in South Bend as a benefit for the
Indiana Burn Camp.  Show starts at 8pm.  This is going to look a lot
like some of our earlier shows, heavy on the booze and the covers.  The
show is being put on by the South Bend Fire Department and they're
throwing a 'Stache Bash to celebrate.  Come for the cause, stay for the
moustaches.  I'll say that again.  Firemen in Mustaches.  Awesome.
This is a big part of the band's history, as we were once known in
smaller circles as Moustache and we think kids and firemen are worth
supporting.  Who knows, maybe there'll be a Moustache reunion show?
Maybe this will BE the reunion show... only one way to find out...

Oh God, you're saying, there's just so much rock at the end of
February, I can't handle this interstate musi-gasm occurring on this
lunar cycle.  Too bad, you pagan bastards, we're not done yet.
Consider this a rap on the knuckles for excellent behavior from your
Mother F#@*in' Superiors and get your Holy Rolling asses over
to Martyr's on March 6th, again at 9pm.  That's right.  The religious
puns abound so freely, I'm not even gonna take a swing.  It's too easy.

After blasting you (and us, frankly) away over a 7-day span, we're
going to head into the studio over the next few months to begin work on
our next recording project.  It will contain some songs you know, a lot
you don't, and it's gonna keep us busy for the next few months both on
stage and off.

We love you for your support and can't wait to see you all in the next few weeks,

Dan (and the Dirty Rooks)

We've just booked a show (February 27 at Abbey Pub) with two really great bands, at least one of which is from the real Tennessee. They lean a little country but we're cool with that. And seriously, they're way better looking than us.
