So as you might have already seen in the multiple bulletins I posted (sorry about that but I was freakin' amped) Lost Board Productions tied for third place, with only a point seperating us from second, at UP's $16k Businaz Plan Competition.
Pretty rad and all, but what does that mean?? Well, first of all we get some needed funding. Not a bunch, maybe enough to buy some new lenses (a fisheye, polarizer and UV filter for sure) and a little left over to spend on the next competition. We also however gained a ton of experience and feedback with the whole format and, according to one of the judges, we "knocked the presentation portion out of the park," which, since we are in the business of entertainment, was what we had hoped to accomplish. Now it's just our business plan itself that needs more work, which will be relatively easy.
Enough with all the business bullshit though, when are we gonna get some solid kiting clips eh? SOON. The weather is turning fast in the Gorge, and yesterday the crew threw down a hienious cold water session (it is warming up though) out east at the Lyle Sandbar. Since everyone, inlcuding myself, had put in so much hard work leading up to saturday's presentations, I decided to leave the camera in the case and just enjoy the day. I also thought everyone would be a little too rusty from the winter hibernation for filming, but damn, I was definitely wrong on that! Guys were throwing down! Jeff was sticking blind judges in a DRYsuit better than he had all last season in boardies. Tucker was repping a good all around style with solid air and lots of unhooked madness, and even I was pleased with what I had retained from last season with a few kiteloops and an s-bend downloop. STOKED. Everyone is definitely ready to shoot the shit.
So what's coming up? Patience. We're talking to the right people, getting the positive feedback and keeping an eye on the weather. Although nothing is ever set in stone, I will throw out one hint, and you can throw it right back if you want...Slingshot.
Aight team, hit the showers. Thanks everyone for all the support, the future is lookin good because of YOU. Late-

I'm stoked to finally report that the business plan for LBP is done (or as 'done' as it's going to get) and officially in the hands of the people who are going to determine whether or not Alex and I make it to the finals of the University of Portland's $16k business plan challenge. After having to put in a few more nights of hard work, on spring break in Bend, OR nonetheless, I'm pretty confident we're going to do ok. Honestly though working on that plan seems endless...I'm always finding things to change, add or append, and keeping the whole thing under the 25 page limit was pretty tough. It's done though, and a huge weight off my chest.
As far as filming, we've been on spring break in Bend, OR trying to get some random stuff to throw up on the page. I never thought i would say this, but get ready for a pretty rad rock climbing vid, along with some snowboarding, skating and general craziness that went down while we were here. It's nice to be able to kick back for awhile and focus solely on filming...can't wait until this can happen more often.
Aight, business plan is done, and so am I. Hope everyone is stoked on spring, we are for sure. Go get some in da sun.

So we're gonna try and keep everyone updated on the progress of LBP through posting these blogs, but our number one priority is going to be getting out much more footage, so, although these might be few and far between, I'll try to make them worth the time.
First of all I want to formerly thank all of you for checking out the LBP page and all the hard work Alex and I have put together so far. I know it isn't much yet, but I promise there's MUCH more down the pipeline (a 27 page business plan worth)...we just need a bit more time to get it all going.
So for those of you who are still scratching your heads as to what the hell Lost Board Productions is, and I'm sure there's plenty of you out there, here's a snippet from the plan:
Lost Board Productions is a film production company whose main objective will be to brilliantly capture the foundations of modern kiteboarding: a blending of style, power and the influences of other board-based sports. Although LBP's main focal point will be kiteboarding, it will not limit the crew from shooting other disciplines such as snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding and skating. LBP is based minutes from the Columbia River Gorge, where professionals and amateurs alike ride daily in some the most scenic and demanding windswept spots on the planet; spots that are objects of kiteboarding lore, yet at the same time are severely underexposed to the rest of the global kiteboarding community. This underexposure, as well as an identifiable high demand and low supply of new kiteboarding films, is exactly the void LBP hopes to fill on a scale not yet seen in the kiteboarding industry.
So that's where we're at. A lot of the stuff right now is going to be snowboarding, just because it feels sooooo good. Plus the river is hovering at a balmy 45 degrees, and I don't know about you, but as a kiter I'd rather not freeze my ass off for a few seconds of C-grade footage. However, lucky for you there are riders who are core enough to freeze their asses off, so I'll try and get them on camera as soon as possible.
As far as LBP sponsored events, we have one on the drawing board I'm pretty stoked about. We want to set up a rail jam on campus at the University of Portland to promote the company and showcase the skills of some talented skaters, so if you know any around the Portland area, or even ones who can travel, that are willing to session the shit out of a rail park set up right smack in the middle of a pretty big college campus, let me know for sure.
Other than all that Alex and I are pretty busy preparing for UP's $16k Business Plan Challenge. Big money goes to the team that can rep the best plan, and since we've been working on this LBP thing for awhile we think we might be in the running. Wish us luck, that shit goes down at the end of March.
Aight, now that you're all caught up on everything you ever wanted to know about LBP, go session the mountain. Seriously, it's too good up there to think about anything else. Peace-
