Brand New CD from Michael Chapman recorded at Phoenix Studios (http://www.myspace.com/phoenixstudioscumbria ) Michaels preferred studios. Alex Warnes musician, producer and owner of the studios adds a richly textured contempory production to much of the album. (http://www.myspace.com/alexwarnes) The sound is still obviously Michael Chapman, guitars, electric and acoustic abound, but it nods to RL Burnside (http://www.myspace.com/itsbadyouknowrl), narly Neil Young (http://www.myspace.com/neilyoung) and modern Steve Earle (http://www.myspace.com/steveearlemusic). A stunning listen.

A mix of reimagined classic Chapman material, covers of Chapman favourites and new Chapman material

Highly Recommended

In The Valley (Chapman) A darker more brooding take on the window classic. The romantic anthem to sitting under a tree is given a more claustrophobic urban feel.

Hang On To A Dream (Tim Hardin) (http://www.myspace.com/timhardinmusic) Michael knew Tim and played this track live freuquently during the 60s. He wryly points out on his growing pains live album from the late 60s that people used to think this was one of mine now they think its Rod Stewarts

Thought About You jazz classic

The Latest News (Chapman) A protest song played to a languid reggae dub groove that evokes Ernest Ranglin (http://www.myspace.com/ernestranglin) and being drunk on palm wine.

Prospector (Chapman) reimagined take with new lyrics of this late 70s classic

Rabbit Hills (Chapman) rearranged version of this beautiful track off Fully Qualified Survivor.Tasteful shimmering guitars and cello / violin string arrangement

A Spanish Incident (Chapman) rearranged electric version of the Chapman track Ramone and Durango

Waiting For A Train (Rodgers) Old hobo classic that Michael first recorded during the Window sessions

Hi Heel Sneakers (Timmy Tucker) superb live classic given a RL Burnside makeover featuring some wonderfully loose Michael Chapman electric that nods towards New York Ladies from Millstone Grit

How Can A Poor Man (Stand Such Times As These And Live) (Reed) Great Bar room sound and exotic electronica memphis horn sound

Rockport Sunday (Tom Rush) (http://www.myspace.com/officialtomrush) The latest version of this Chapman favourite instrumental first recorded on Play Guitar The Easy Way

Which Will (Nick Drake) (http://www.myspace.com/nickdrake) A recorded beautifully played version of the Nick Drake track that Michael played at the Les Cousins Nick Drake Memorial concert in 2004.

If you want to hear someone who hasn't developed or learnt a new trick since 1967 then buy something else.If you want to hear a album that mixes Ancient And Modern by a musician still listening, still invigorated by his own playing and the playing of others then give this album a good listen

CD released on Michaels own Rural Retreat Records

The tracks above are from Michael's recent albums. We will be changing them fairly regularly.

The final track will be a kind of guest beer, obscure stuff or otherwise unavailable stuff that you might not have heard before.
