Despite alot of last minute hassles and whatnot - The show was a success!

My deepest gratitude and love to all who came and danced and listened and enjoyed themselves.
I Couldn't keep doing it without all you beautiful, passionate people supporting what I do.

I promise My shows will get better and better.  Sometime in the (I hope) not-too-distant future you'll all be able to feel proud that your hearts were in this  from these humble beginnings.

I believe in passion- In outward displays of emotion in Dancing and crying out with joy and listening with rapt attention.   This is why I make music- This is why I've kept performing for the last 13 years and why I'll keep performing for thirteen more.

I truly believe there are enough wonderful people out there to enable me to have amazing shows and to soar higher and higher with each one- This is what keeps me going.

Last night was my first show in a real music venue with my new band.

Sufficed to say, I expected to knock the audience's socks off.

Every technical difficulty imaginable occured during my opening set (all more or less my own fault), But apparently, unbeknownst to me, it was actually, somehow, still an enjoyable performance. "You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes..."( You get the point.)

Mother Mother played with demonic precision and roof shaking intensity, yet they all turned out to be rather lovely folks when I talked to them afterwards despite their (to some people) intimidating stage presence.

It's unfortunate that being so good at what you do can create a distance between you and your audience if you're not carefull.

Stopped by the works in churchill square today to say goodbye to Mother Mother before they left town. They played another stunning set during which they asked me to get up and dance on one of the tables, I tried to honor the memory of James Brown in doing so. A homeless man told me tables were'nt for dancing on. Ignored him. once again the band was very gracious when I talked with them afterwards. I wished them the best of luck on the rest of their tour and bade farewell.

I'm really looking forward to doing every thing right this time when I play there tommorow night.

DBB signing off.

Current mood:  sleepy
I have more live shows in the next 10 days then i have played in the last six months. Plus I am under pressure to take over two different radio (CJSR) shows and I am really going to be sad to leave Dream Machine behind (7am saturday is a bad time slot, to be sure, but I think It had really potential as a format). Nevertheless, I must forge ahead and do the best job I can playing the hand that's dealt me. And so I go forth on to glory, or some such thing, (I'd settle for sleep, and soon!).

Current mood:  accomplished
I just played a show on thursday at th U of A's convocation hall. It was called "the texture and the weave" and featured local musicians doing traditional ballads to celebrate the work of recently deceased Canadian folk music icon William Sarjeant. It was poorly attended , but very well received, so it's expected it will be presented again in June.

I am hard at work preparing for two major performances in the next month. One: a Special commission to write and perform a song to celebrate international workers day (mayday) along with the hip hop project I work in "Eshod Ibn Wyza", The other: a new show for my solo project, feauturing my new backing band, at Savoy on whyte avenue in Edmonton, April 17th.

Keep checking for updates on these and other late breaking events
