Well, well....we've been busy. A new CD about to be launched, sore fingers and the festival season has started. We spent a fabulous weekend at Orwell Bluegrass Festival and the weather and the music was perfect. We've received great comments and found more new friends. We're happy to be pleasing so many with our music. It's just great!
If you're in the Bournemouth area, we're playing at their folk club on May 14th. Do come along and sing with us! It'll be a hoot!

Well, The KittyHawks missed Didmarton as Lucy's mom passed away.  Sympathies abound but that strong gal sang Joe Newberry's I Know Whose Tears at her mom's funeral.  I'm sure she has made her mom proud.  But the band are now back and The KittyHawks have just returned from playing a festival at the Gower Heritage Centre nr Swansea in Wales.  It was a beautiful site and venue and the musicians were excellent.  A very warm thanks to Roland for organising and looking after the musicians so well.  It was great to be spoiled!  We had a great response again which pushes us onwards and adds to the excitement of playing and performing.  We are playing 2 dates in London this weekend.  Friday, 12th Sept at the Greennote in Camden and Saturday, 13th at the Cellar Upstairs in Euston.  The Greenote is a vegetarian bar/restaurant music venue, book a table early is advised!  The Cellar Upstairs is a long running folk club that is upstairs in the pub . Cellar Upstairs Folk Club at The Exmouth Arms, Starcross Street, London, NW1 1HR

If you're a keen singer or musician there will be floor spots at this club at the start and at the interval, so come along and have some fun!  Come and enjoy the KittyHawks for some lively foot-tapping songs and music.  You'll come away with a smile!

We're all excited as we've been asked to perform at the London Bluegrass Club in a couple of weeks, on Tuesday, 17th June as a matter of fact.  This is a new club that is organised by John Dowling and is located at the Spice of Life in Soho, Cambridge Circus.  So all ya'll in and around London get your butts up there for a good show.  We're pleased as punch to be asked.  This is directly following the weekend in which we're playing at the Going to the West in Wales, Pembrokeshire (God's country).  Sure 'nuff.  Gonna be a good 'n (and it ain't Sally Goodin!) LOL.... The girls are ready.

Once again we're moving forward.  The band were invited to play on the BBC Radio 2 Nottingham stage on Bank Holiday Monday and then we went into the Radio studio and played a few tunes and was interviewed by Mick Smith.  He was a great host and has a fabulous record and CD collection.  Wild!  So his show is next Tuesday, BBC Radio 2 from the the Midlands, you know you can get it from the internet next week.  We are also finally getting into the recording studio, so our first official CD will be out this summer.  We'll keep you posted.  Also there is a new London venue that John Dowling has put together, called London Bluegrass Club.  We're playing there the 17th June.  Yes, more...more....give me more!

The KittyHawks worked, played, sessioned, danced and enjoyed the heck out of the Friends of American Oldtime Music and Dance (FOAOTMAD)'s Annual Festival.  Piney Woods (featuring the Bing Brothers and Kate Lissauer), Adam Hurt and Beth Hartness and we can't forget those Down Trodden Fellers and the Shivers too !  I had to give Suzette a hug after a smooth but breathtaking roll off the stage.  Bless.  We were all feeling for her.  The dancing and calling was superb although there have been rumours of tremors felt throughout the UK from Muddy John's stomping and Banjo Jackson's swingin'.   We met many of our friends that we only see a couple of times a year and played until the wee hours of the morning.  What a great time we had.   If you're around London, we're playing the GreenNote this Saturday, 16th Feb.  It's a great venue, you can book a table and enjoy some lovely veggie food/tapas like mostly.  Very intimate surroundings but not cramped.  Come on down and see what we're up to.  Both Mo and Lucy have new tunes/songs penned by the ladies' themselves.  See ya'll there as one of the girls would say.

I don't know why there is a `category' here.  It's music, it's always music.  The festive season is nearly over and we've all been with our loved ones, friends and families.  Now we have set in progress a start to produce a CD of some of our material.  Included will be some self-penned songs/tunes as well as many traditional songs based on oldtime, bluegrass, early American folk.  We'd like folks to kick up their heels, feel from their hearts and be touched in some way.  If that happens, well, we've done a great job I reckon.  So we've got to keep workin' and get this baby done.  This is fun.  Stay tuned!

We are thrilled to be back on form and ready to play and sing merrily along.  We're playing Bristol tomorrow night, so we've got a few gigs, a few festivals, a few new songs and some studio time to book so that's enough for awhile.  We're looking to get a bit of a tour for next summer with new CDs and new material.  Oh yeah, it's just fun as heck, now ain't it?  I had a guy tell me one of our songs sent chills down his spine. Excellent(as Mr Burns would say).  I still remember this dog going crazy at Jillfest.  Hmmm. I wonder what that was all about?  Stay in touch and come and see us, as it's just a great time. xxx
