What’s that you say?

That’s right... Hot Topic in the Smith Haven Mall is going to give you $5 off any $25 purchase just for listening to us play. Personally, i can't believe that, but that's what they said TWICE.
(for those of you that are "Mathematically Challenged", that's basically a $25 'thing' for $20)

The only catch is that you have to be there while we play on Thursday night (12/3) @ 6pm -sharp. Looking to play about 30 minutes or so, not entirely sure how strict that is, but the words “Fire” and “Marshall” were used during the negotiations, and those of you OGDs out there know just how sensitive we are to those particular words.

Also… we’ve got a new record expected in early 2010, and that means lots of giveaways on older CDs now… so signing our email list will get you a copy of “…Smiles” or “Sparticle” or any of the compilations we happen to be carrying around at the show…

oh and btw:

ADDRESS
313 Smith Haven Mall
Lake Grove, NY 11755

LOCATION
Smith Haven Mall is located at Middle Country Road (Rt. 25) and Nesconset Highway (Rt. 347).

… and that’s about all she wrote. If we don’t see you Thursday, we hope you all have an absolutely fantastic holiday season, and we will of course be back next year to…

Greetings...

I cannot believe it is fall already… I mean where did the summer.. ahhh nevermind.

As you may, or may not, be aware, we in Daveyland are taking off the month of September to relax after an excruciatingly busy august, and to write new material for our upcoming record.  So in true Davey fashion, we’ll be playing tomorrow night anyway….LOL!...  as part of the MEANYFest in NYC. We’ll be at the Delancey @ 10 and you can check the calendar for additional details.  Other than that, we have 4 spectacular shows lined up for October, including a PDT Connected festival/fundraiser on the 3rd, the Long Island Fall Festival in Hecksher Park on the 10th, the Zebra Club’s anniversary bash on the 23rd and our final show this season at our beloved Six Flags Great Adventure for “Dead & Local 2009” during Fright Fest on the 24th.

Well be sending out all of the details as usual via our mailing list or through our facebook pages, all of which you can access here: facebook.com/rockyourdog so sign up to be a “fan” if you get a second, and we’ll keep you in the loop on everything.

It’s going to be a great month, and we certainly hope to see you soon.

Greetings Everyone,

Exciting times here in Davey-land.

First and foremost, we need to send a giant “Thank You” to Matt and everyone else at 91.7 WLFR in ..Pomona.. (..Southern New Jersey..) for making “She Sells Smiles” #1 on their Top200 album chart this week.  We, as a band, are completely grateful to you for giving us a chance, and a listen.  It truly is because of people like you and stations like yours that we even stand a chance out there today, so again “THANK YOU!”

MORE NEWS!!!!

Our appearance in the Long Island Music Festival has been officially rescheduled to:

            The Zebra Club

            Saturday, July 18th @ 8:30PM

            1195 Montauk Highway

COPIAGUE.., 11726

            Free Admission

Sadly, for our street team, it is a 21+ show, however it is FREE ADMISSION, so come on down, even if you just want to vote; that’s right, you don’t even have to stay and see us play, just stop in and show us some love -in ballot form!

(We really would appreciate any support you can give us… The entry round is simply a battle-of-the-bands type of deal, where the audience votes for their favorite band, and the winner(s) move to the semi-finals.  So it really matters to us if you make this one  :o)

“WHAT ELSE” YOU SAY?

Who likes roller coasters?  One could argue that the ups and downs being in Gee Davey have certainly been a roller coaster ride, but I’m talkin’ Live & Local at Six Flags Great Adventure!!!   That’s right; the band will be performing THREE TIMES between 5ish and 8ish at the northeast’s greatest amusement park.  The performance is FREE once you are actually in the park, and we’ll be on the path to “BIZARRO”, right next to the Log Flume, just behind the Roasted Corn guy  (no, I’m not kidding)… so stop by and say hi!

LIVE & LOCAL at SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE

Sunday, July 19th @ 5 – 8PM

IS THERE MORE?

Yep.  Anyone that’s been around here long enough has heard us wax poetic about great groups and sites for unsigned music.  Well, one our favs is going “TV”, and they have a video promo out to prove it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC8Cp-UkuQA

It also happens to have really snappy music for the promo.. sound familiar anyone?  LOL…   We couldn’t be happier, and we want to wish Mark and everyone else at the Rock and Roll Report the best of luck with this new venture, and as always…. anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask.

IS THAT IT?

Yeah, that’s it.  Now get out there, grab a friend, and Rock Your Dog!

Official statement from the band:

"We are sorry to say... [once again] ...the venue has been shut down by the fire marshal.  According to Good Times Magazine there is simply “no show”.  We are trying to get more specifics about the event.  We imagine there are options including moving to another location, or another show already scheduled tonight, or maybe pushing into the next round on a bye… we really have no idea, but be assured that we will notify you as soon as we can, and as always, we thank you for your support."

Current mood:  sad
Category: Writing and Poetry
“And I’ll sing my song to you; it’s all I want to do.”

I wonder how many times I’ve sang those words?
I have most of our set lists, so I could probably count it up, at least “live” anyway, maybe 3 or 400 times?.  But the hundreds maybe thousands of times at practice, or even just on the acoustic, just hanging around that house..
I love that song you know, so I’ve played it a lot.

…and I mean it too, it really is all I want to do.  I like songwriting, I like being in a band, I like all that stuff, for the most part.  it’s terribly crushing sometimes putting things out there only to have your hand smacked, like you were reaching into the cookie jar before supper or something… (now that’s old school.. )

I just don’t understand sometimes how things work out.  sometimes I think it would be better if I did, but I don’t get the way peoples minds work all the time.  I had a friend tell me once that she didn’t understand why every radio station was playing our last CD.  it’s so nice to hear that, you have no idea, but we wrote the friggin’ thing and even we don’t think that.  but even when we end up on a ton, yes a literal ton, of radio stations, it turns out it doesn’t actually matter in the larger scope of things.  wtf?  now, in the smaller scope of things, I have met (virtually, mostly) some amazing people because of that. we have found second families across the world because of it, and I love that.  which reminds me, you know who I really like?   the other bands we meet along the way.  now keep in mind, all musicians are assholes.. lol.. I think it comes automatically when you buy the guitar.  apparently you’re not even allowed to buy drums unless you present your asshole membership card.. (relax, I’m just kidding..)   anyhoo…
there’s something about being in a good band, yes, with all the conceit it implies, we are a good band, that attracts other good bands.  just another step above the noise I suppose.  to work these relationships with people you just know you’ll keep bumping in to, because they are also in good bands, and are going to be travelling down this road a spell.
That’s good.  there’s a lot to be said for looking past the lights, while you are breathing, or trying to breathe between songs and seeing those people that were either just where you were, or will be there shortly.  because they know.  lots of us do it because we love to, but some of us do it because we have to… and to you, we drink and we sing…
“and I’ll sing my song to you; it’s all I want to do.”

Hi Everyone....

Just a quick note to say that the band is really quite thrilled to be kicking of the "WMJC / Heineken Summer Concert Series" on the Island tonight.  We're slated for a few more through to August, but we're the lead-off band, not too shabby, eh?

For those of you in the area, come down to Lily Flanagans on Main Street in Islip and help us get this party started right  (9-11PM) !!!

For the rest of you, rest assured that nothing would make us happier than playing in your town by this time next summer.  but until then, "She Sells Smiles" is still playing on over 50 college radio stations across the country, yes even during the summer, so when you get a sec, request it, scratch that, DEMAND IT!!!   ... and we'll get there as soon as we can.

Rock Your (summer) Dog!

From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495)  to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left.

Make a left into the Main Entrance from Nicolls Road. At the first light make a right. Go to the second stop sign and make a left. Follow the road until you see the stadium parking lot on your right hand side. The University Café is located in the Stony Brook Union Building. Look for the red awning with the words “University Café.”

see you there!@
