Darkside Lounge has ceased operations (at least in this form) as of Sunday night. I wont get into what was the cause, mainly cause there are a multitude of them, but suffice to say we fought the good fight. Many of the staff will still be around. Bobcat (Sound Guy) and Wes Metal (Bartender/GM) will be over at Renos. I'd like to thank a variety of people and bands that made Darkside the den of inequity that it was:
In no particular order...
The Turbo AC's,Flametrick Subs, Redefine, Sawed Off Sick, The Dallas Derby Devils, Jacknife, Dead City Shakers, Fear Of Self, Lazer, Dennis Rodman, Before The Fall, Tub Ring, Greyskull, The Queers, Last of The Interceptors (Including all 3 singers!), House Harkonnen, Curtis Black, The Broadsiders, Brake!Vegas, The Blacksliders, The Von Erics, Slick Lady Six, Clever shows and Devin, The Jew Boy (even though the split was less than amicable) Kansas City Faggots,The Conquerors, 4 Days To Burn,Shat, Baptism By 80 Proof, The BHA, The Stink, Free To Kill Again,The Murgatroyds, Calabrese,Spook City Allstars,Wayward Boys, Carrie Cash, Rumblin' Rose, Scary Cherry and The Bang Bangs, Spector 45, Dog Company, Klopek, The Lights Of Dragna, Dead Rising, Stumble Bums, DC, Chris Crosley, Mitra, The Felons, Little Big Horn, Blarney Street Hooligans, Nekromantix, Joe Tucker, Gito Gito Hustler, Youth Brigade, The Independents, Lone Star, Darkbuster, Sabotuer, Jagermister and anyone else we may have missed.
Feel free to keep checking back to this page for updates about shows, and whats happening with all of us.
Love and sloppy kisses Darkside Lounge/Elm Street Bar

That's right! Uh huh! And he's OUR sound guy! WHOO HOO! Best Sound Guy (2007) Bobcat The Darkside Lounge 2810 Elm St. 214-747-2300 When Bobcat transitioned a few months ago from his longtime spot behind the board at Club Dada to the one just down the street at Darkside, he left a trail of legend and, even more important, genius ability behind him. This is a man who reportedly romanced Julie Napol of Concrete Blonde, a man who constantly is courted by touring bands to drop what he's doing and come work for/with them, a man who can make your out-of-tune, two-chord experimental reggae punk jam band sound like the Rolling Fuckin' Stones. Or, you know, Mozart, since he also helmed the knobs at Bass Performance Hall. We actually don't know what makes Bobcat so good. It's one of those things that's mystifying, genius, like why you could play the same three notes the same way Jimi Hendrix played them and never sound like him at all. All we know is Bobcat makes the fair and middling sound like Fair to Midland, and he makes the great sound like a band fronted by God. See Dallas Observer article here Best Sound Guy 2007The Darkside & Elm St Bar would like to give a BIG WHOO HOO to all the DEEP ELLUM (that's right I said DEEP ELLUM!) Bars, Galleries, Restraunts & Tattoo Shops that won a "Best Of" this year! We're still alive and kicking down here and we're never giving up!

Best Reason to Still Go to Deep Ellum Darkside Lounge 2810 Elm St. 214-747-2300
Deep Ellum: You stopped going because of the bar fights. And the teeny-bopper dance clubs. And the shady parking. But you started going again because of the Darkside Lounge. Wait, you haven't been to the Darkside Lounge? Guess that means you haven't been out to some of the best local shows, drinking some of the cheapest local brews and hanging out with some of the coolest local people. But that's OK. It's early yet, especially in the rejuvenation of Deep Ellum. Thanks to the Darkside Lounge, though, the neighborhood's regaining a little bit of that long-lost coolness. At Darkside, you'll find cushy Vegas-style booths for canoodling, a pool table for schmoozing and a good-sized stage for local band viewing. In fact, the Darkside Lounge's killer weekend musical lineups will probably be what brings you out the first time, but it's this venue's neighborhood bar-meets-scenester-lounge sensibility that'll keep you coming back.

Maybe to some, but us at the Darkside Lounge and Elm Street Bar are still alive and kicking and we aren't going anywere. At the Darkside we are still bringing the best national and local punk rock, rockabilly, psychobilly, metal, indie, and just straight up rock and roll. If you want to bitch about deep ellum dying, why not do something about it and come out to a show and support the neighborhood if not at Darkside, then at Curtain Club, Club Dada, The Galaxy, or Adairs. There is plenty of shit going on in Ellum every weekend and all i keep hearing is people bitching about no scene, well come to the neighborhood and start making the scene alive again, thats all it takes. Support Live Music in Deep Ellum or don't bitch when there is nothing but cover bands and DJ's left Brian Darkside Lounge
