This is "Death of the Muse", the first single off the upcoming Solillaquists of Sound album, "No More Heroes". It's available as a download for a minimum donation of $2 with absolutely 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ms. Maureen Yancey a/k/a Ma Dukes (J Dilla's mom). You are encouraged to donate more than the minimum by upping the quantity in your shopping cart before checking out. The track features J-Live, Chali 2na (of Jurassic 5), as well as Ma Dukes herself.

Those wanting to donate as much as they want (above the minimum) with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Ms. Yancey click here.

Being that J Dilla was a musical hero to many of us, we chose to pay tribute to him in song for the new SoS album. And knowing of the troubles that his mother has endured (not only during the time of Dilla's illness but also since his passing) with her own health, living situation, and estrangement with the executors of Dilla's estate, we decided to pay tribute to her as well.. in action.

TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MS. YANCEY AND THIS MOVEMENT CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE AT OKAYPLAYER.COM

Please go to the download site, read the info and support Ms. Yancey. She is a wonderful and strong person who needs the help. Make sure you leave her a comment, pass the link along to your friends, try to get the song and the message on the radio, make the cover art your myspace pic, or throw the banner up on your page. Do what you can. Let's continue to prove that the power of the people united for a cause is more powerful than any politician or celebrity by helping to make a significant change in this woman's life.

Much thanks goes to everyone involved in this, especially everyone at insound for hosting the donation for free while taking no percentages or transaction fees and making sure that every last cent of the proceeds goes directly to Ms. Yancey. To all those starting up additional fundraisers, feel free to use the link above to donate the money you raise directly to Ms. Yancey, that's what it was created for. And of course thanks to all of you who support.

"Who in their right mind think they can put a stop to hip hop / If it don’t stop till I stop, and I don’t stop till it stop". J-Live’s prophetic first single from 1995 ’Longevity’ laid the foundations for a career of over 12 years and counting in the rap game. Never cutting corners on quality or substance, J-Live is one of true preservers of real hip hop.

Now he’s back once again with his 4th full length album, ’Then What Happened?’. Three years after his critically acclaimed LP ’The Hear After’, this genuine article is fresh infectious hip hop and shows J-Live on top form.

A certain standard of quality is expected with every J-live record, and this one doesn’t disappoint; the flows are dexterous, balancing vivid imagery and humourous narratives with biting social commentary and a bass-heavy timeless hip hop sound.

Longtime collaborator Jazzy Jeff comes correct with sick beats on the opener ’One to 31’, while J-Live rhymes and flows about his life like he was born doing it.
DJ Spinna also returns with some more magic, his trademark warm craftsmanship and welcome inflections of funk and soul provide an ideal canvas for J-Live’s artistry.

The old school bounce is represented on this LP too, when Dj Nu-Mark and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 do what they do so well and take things to the club with ’The Zone’.
From the dope understatement of ’Be No Slave’ to the wicked jazzy flows of ’It Don’t Stop’ and ’The Upgrade’ ft. Oddisee & Posdanous, to the latin-tinged kick of ’Ole’ ft. Oddy Gato, this is an incredible hip hop album from an extremely under-rated artist.

Other artists featured on this album include Evil Dee for Da Beatminerz, Nicolay, Marco Polo, Probe DMS, Yallzee, Locsmif, Kenny Keys, Cap D and Usef Dinero.

Track Listing:
1. One to 31
2. Be No Slave
3. The Upgrade (featuring Oddisee and Posdanous)
4. It Don’t Stop
5. The Understanding
6. The Last Third
7. Ole (featuring Oddy Gato)
8. What You Holdin’?
9. Ooweee
10. The Zone (featuring Chali 2na)
11. We Are!
12. Simmer Down
13. You Out There

After a two year hiatus, J-Live follows his last critically acclaimed full length "The Hear After" with a sneak attack in the form of a 6 song EP "Reveal The Secret" "I want this to feel like it came outa nowhere. I want the people that have it to feel special you know. Let them spread the word that I’m back. Pass it .. the album drops. You know… let the cat out the bag, reveal the secret."
Its no secret that J has worked with his fair share of elite producers in the past. And although this spring’s mini project is just a precursor, it is no different. Reveal the Secret features production by DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spinna, Da Beatminerz, Marco Polo, B Money an Oddisee. " My people have been dying for me and Spinna to get back in the lab. He’s been down since day one. We have a couple other joints on the album too" The album, titled "Then What Happened" is due out this fall. But in the meantime, the EP will serve as a best foot forward, on J’s path to share his music with the world, breakout of obscurity and "Reveal the Secret"
