Well little Tarquin, it so happens that the Squirrel Skin Slippers are going back in to the studio to record more tracks! If you keep pretending to be good, then Santa might bring you a piece of freshly laid Squirrel Vinyl for Christmas.

If on the other hand, Daddy-dearest finally catches you smoking those cigarette stubs behind the shed, it aint Squirrel Vinyl you'll be gettin...

DJ Andy Weatherall opened a vortex of trouble by detonating some Squirrel Slippers on his BBC Radio 6 show!!
We say: thanks Andy! We are mighty chuffed.

xx

And then.. we turn our attention, once again, to the job at hand:
- left hand, glass of red wine
- right hand, piece of cheese
- a decision must be made soon
hmmm...

If any of you find yourself sitting at home with an ash tray full of screwed up - smouldering cigar butts, and half a bottle of miscellaneous liquor swilling around in your brain to take the edge off all aspects of life, I would recommend dropping in and having a listen to these late night cats at WPKN
They dropped our track "Come To Me Baby" in to the mix of their Midnight Madness show of Neo-Psych and Garage music... Good stuff!

Recommended food-stuff to eat while listening: Monkey Nuts (you can throw the shells around the room to keep yourself entertained until it gets to kebab-o-clock).

A 2:30am gig aint your normal EP launch start time, but then Stranger Than Paradise aint your normal party!!! While friends, freaks, and circus folk cavorted around the belly of the Miller Bar to a heady blend of gypsy music, performance, and booze - we finally threw the overdrive switch on the Squirrels and balsted out our set in the wee hours of the morning when everyones brains were already nicely toasted.

Warning: it gets hot upstairs at the Miller. All 2 liters of water I had consumed came flying out of my sweat pores and hit the crowd like a water pistol. I seem to remember a few hard core ladies up the front head banging someone other peoples heads on the stage to our stompy beats, while someone else released a cage of small violent monkeys within the crowd.... oh, hang on - that might have just been hallucinations as dehydration kicked in.

45 frantic minutes later, the deed was done. The crowd were sated, we were spent, the EP has now been sent forth in to the world.

Deep under the ancient cobble stones of the Bristol Markets, there lurks a wee cavern of Rock and Roll nature. All those who enter into this den - later emerge shakin their hips, slightly unhinged, and uttering random "oh, ah, b-b-b-baby-baby" noises in to the ear of strangers on the bus.

So with more genuine vintage equipment than you can shake a Beatles hair style at, our gig at the Frat Cave was an absolute blast, and goes down in our books as one of the best nights out this side of the moon.

Also, check out Howlin Lord who did a blazing opening set for us! yahooooo!!

Weekends? What's that Oliver Twist??? YOU WANT REST AND SLEEP? Noooooo... Not so lucky ma boy! We have been burnin our eyeballs on the late night Cubase editing mission, and the days spent annoying the neighbours with thousands of retakes of tambourine overdubs ("NO! Not good enough, again I say. This time with more emotion, dammit").

Well, it should all be worth it. Our tracks are almost finished being mastered, and the EP release party happenin soon after!!! The demo versions are all now loaded up on our site:

Hurrah!.. and upon the release day we shall utter some profound words beholding the fruits of our labour, cast our snake-skin winkle picker shoes high upon the desk in slumped relaxation, and partake of many tins of frosty cold beer.

I struggled, I laboured, I gnashed my teeth... threw my hands in the air many times and expelled a loud "mmmBAH HUMBUG" noise. Finally however, I have (almost) sorted out our Last FM listing.

If you have a chance, and wish to sway gently in the trees with us while soothing howls of garage music pummel the air, then please drop in and give it a listen:

(warning, several cans of beer were harmed in the making of our Last FM site).

Our recent stormy tour back to New Zealand (i.e. the bad weather was battering us like an angry French chef) was of course punctuated by some great gigs, and finished at the Thirsty Dog opening for Labretta Suede (see the vid posted on our site). A photographer at the Thirsty Dog has posted a bunch of awesome pics of that gig at the following website:

Our brief stay in Wellington (and subsequent gig at the fantastic Mighty Mighty) was spiced up with an impromptu interview and air play on Radio Active 89FM. Great stuff! The Mighty Mighty goes down in our books so far as containing the highest ever number of Rock'n'Roll lunatics per square meter (ref: The Department Of Invented Statistics)

See you again soon Wellington!
