I'm leaving tonight for sunny California to visit Sacramento for the 1st time (my last time in CA was in San Diego a couple years ago).  We're visiting and staying with my girlfriend's step-brother.  He's supposed to show us the city (or the more exciting surrounding areas) and it's always nice to have a tour guide when visiting anywhere.  It's apparently 100 degrees there now so I'm hoping to see some hot, bikini-clad honies (you can still look when you have a cool girlfriend who doesn't get jealous), do some shopping for cool clothes (crap you can't find in conservative-ass Omaha), eat some 'surf' (as opposed to 'turf') , and just relax!!!  I'll be back Monday hopefully energized and ready to rock out the rest of the summer!  I better be ready quick - I have an acoustic show at Myth the very next night (Jul 2nd)!

For those of you that know me, I'm very political.  In the 16 years that I've been a registered voter I have been a Democrat, Republican, and now am an Independent.  Personally, I feel partisan poltics are what's hurting this country.  In any case, I am officially posting my support for Barack Obama as our next President of the United States.  I look forward to a government and presidency where I can respect, believe and even be proud of, in addition to feeling represented.  It's been a long time since I've felt that way.  Obama's ideas are fresh and relatable and is the only politician in a long time that I actually believe when they speak.  I wasn't a fan of either Bushes or Clinton (and DETEST Hillary).  Ronald Regan seemed so long ago (and as our best president in modern history, even HE was guilty of treason!  Iran/Contra scandal anyone???)...

Let me add that I don't believe Obama to be the perfect candidate.  I have had issues with a couple of things that he has both said and done.  However, all candidates (just as all people) have flaws and have said things they've regretted, have associated with people that aren't always the best influence, etc.  Most of those issues and troubles, upon further study and inquiry, have subsided.  

Unlike most, I will still allow the head-to-head debates between the two ultimately decide who gets my vote.  I challenge others to do the same.

In the alternate universe where I have children, I imagine I will have a difficult time explaining to my child why it's okay to allow a perfect stranger to break and enter into your home overnight while everyone sleeps.  If you can't trust your priest, boyscout troop leader, or school teacher, why in the hell am I going to trust this white ass fatty with home invasion?

While I'm still lost how we got Santa Claus from Jesus, the point of the season is not to buy things for people.  It's to cherish our loved ones and appreciate what we have.  No toys, gadgets, or trinkets will ever validate your life.  It's those you've surrounded yourself with and the happenings in your life that hold the most value.

For those of you who don't know, the reason Muslem extremists willingly blow themselves up is because of their belief in jihad, which is by dying for a cause of God they will be rewarded in heaven with 72 virgins.  I guess they see that as a pretty awesome alternative to look forward to in comparison to the $hi++y life they have currently.  72 virgins awaiting you in the afterlife is certainly tempting.  However, I see it another way.  I think I could put a stop to all of the suicide bombings if I just explain to them that it's nothing more than 72 different women who are going to suck in bed.
