About Alex Grey:
Visionary artist Alex Grey was first recognized for his ground-breaking "Sacred Mirrors" collection which took 10 years to complete. This collection, featuring a unique series of 21 life sized paintings,” takes the viewer on a journey toward their own divine nature by examining, in detail, the body, mind, and spirit”. It was during this period that he developed his depictions of the human body that "x-ray" the multiple layers of reality, and reveal the interplay of anatomical and spiritual forces. Alex Grey has since received worldwide acclaim. In pop culture his timeless works have appeared in Tool's "10,000 Days", their "Lateralus" album and stage show, The Beastie Boys' "Ill Communication" and Nirvana's "In Utero". Grey's artwork has also appeared on the cover of Sub Rosa, Newsweek, High Times, Shaman's Drum, Shambhala Sun, Juxtapoz, Vision.

ABOUT LEE "SCRATCH" PERRY:
"I’m an artist, a musician, a magician, a writer, a singer; I’m everything. My name is Lee from the African jungle, originally from West Africa. I’m a man from somewhere else, but my origin is from Africa, straight to Jamaica through reincarnation; reborn in Jamaica..."

Lee "Scratch" Perry (born Rainford Hugh Perry, on March 20, 1936, in Kendal, Jamaica) is a Grammy award-winning reggae and dub artist, who has been highly influential in the development and acceptance of reggae and dub music in Jamaica and overseas. He employs numerous pseudonyms, such as "Pipecock Jaxxon" and "The Upsetter". Arguably the first creatively driven, "artist-producer" in modern recorded music, Lee "Scratch" Perry occupies the highest level of music making - standing comfortably next to pioneers like George Martin, Phil Spector, and Brian Wilson.

Music Intermix Presents...
"MOVE MASSIVE 2009"

+ mindmovement + bodymovement + soulmovement +

"A concert featuring AKIL THE MC of Jurassic Five, NOVA's own Future & DC's legendary reggae party band See-I; with members of Thievery Corporation. Guest opener Poor Man's Lobster will kick off a night full of conscious sounds and positive vibes from the area's best bands..."

AKIL the MC of Jurassic Five
Los Angeles, CA
http://www.myspace.com/akilthe1mc
http://www.reverbnation.com/akilthemc

After Future is finished burning down this shindig, Akil the MC of the legendary hip-hop crew Jurassic 5 will perform an after party set. With the momentum of his 2009 release "Soundcheck101" and a UK Tour, the DMV will have a unique opportunity to catch Akil as he returns to the states. However, Akil will not be alone. He will be taking the stage with DJ Metrognome and Atlanta based indie hip-hop artist Quanstar.

+FUTURE +

Plenty of party bands exhibit a vague notion of eclecticism. Using hip-hop, reggae, soul, funk and rock, they haphazardly throw disparate elements of each into a musical blender and pray for some cohesion. Many fail. But then there's the ambitiously dubbed Future, a D.C. quintet that seamlessly melds those genres by fusing emcee "Chuck Buckets" heady slam poetry and Gordon Sterling's explosive, soulful pipes with deep reggae grooves, driving rock rhythms and guitar pyrotechnics—often over the course of a single song. Future's extended sonic explorations are unbound by stylistic notions. Our music is a conversation about the human experiment," Sterling explains. "As this experiment goes, so goes our music."

+ SEE-I +

See-I is an 8-piece roots reggae band from Washington, DC. While SEE-I is a solid reggae band, there are many other influences that can be heard in the music ranging from blues to rock, latin, soul, funk and brazilian beats. This makes sense because of the variety of bands that the SEE-I band members hail from. 4 of the 8 members are part of Thievery Corporation and other bands represented include All Mighty Senators, Fort Knox Five, Sin Miedo, Thunderball, Nayas, International Velvet, Soul Brazil and others. All of these experiences and influences combine on stage to create a unique sound that can best be described as a reggae jam band. SEE-I delivers a positive vibe that keeps the dance floor packed and grooving all night with smiles on everyone's faces.

+ POOR MAN'S LOBSTER +

Poor Man’s Lobster is a droplet of energy from the sun that rooted with the earth to represent the sounds ever present within her core. The constant shifting of the earth’s plates makes for a band driven to evolve into a magnificent nebula of sound that will captivate the listening ear. Dimensions have been crossed and the wiring in the brain altered...spawning a new musician one who hears the light within and is driven to succeed with genre-bending openness. Poor Man's Lobster's only aim is to introduce a new unique perspective on "Righteous Music".

Fort Knox Recordings presents
SEE-I – “How Could You”
featuring remix by Rodney Hunter

After years of collaborating with vocalists Rootz and Zee (Thievery Corporation & See-I), Fort Knox Recordings is excited to release the See-I single “How Could You.” The Fort Knox family has come full circle after sharing stages, musicians, and production for years with See-I.

Washington, DC’s own Thomas Blondet of Rhythm & Culture Music originally produced the laid back, conscious vibe of “How Could You.” Blondet’s production combined with the smooth vocals of Rootz and Zee are the perfect combination. With a classic reggae feel, intelligent lyrics and a good dance floor beat How Could You delivers the goods.

For this first See-I single on Fort Knox Recordings, we have called on legendary producer Rodney Hunter for a brilliant remix. His remake is featured on the upcoming New Gold Standard 2 compilation out this fall on Fort Knox Recordings. Rodney Hunter, from Kruder & Dorfmeister’s G-Stoned Label, has remixed Fort Knox Five as well as the Gravediggaz, Doug E Fresh, Tosca and many more. This veteran remixer puts his unique touch on How Could You to make a wicked dubby tune with some serious skank going on.

Artist: See-I
Release: How Could You
Label: Fort Knox Recordings
