Local bands get together in a benefit for one of their own..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Frankapalooza boasts four powerhouse bands - Saucy Jack, 90 Minutes, Cherry Bomb and Funk Syndicate - and will be held at Jerry's Bait Shack, 302 SW Main St., Lee's Summit, Mo., on Sunday, June 29, 2008.   Frankapalooza is a benefit concert for Funk Syndicate co-founder and lead guitarist Frank Garcia. The cover charge is a minimum $5 donation per person (more is always welcome). The bands begin at 3:00 pm and continue until 10:30. There will be non-stop entertainment with acoustic acts performing during the breaks. Come one, come all, and bring the kids.  It's for a great cause!

Frank was stricken with staff pneumonia and MRSA this winter.  MRSA is a deadly bacteria that you might have heard about in the news.  His condition progressed from what appeared to be cold symptoms on a Saturday to fighting for his life by Thursday.  By Friday the outlook was grim, and Frank was in a medically-induced coma and on a ventilator for breathing.  His body was in full septic shock, his internal organs were all shutting down, and fluid began to build up on his brain.  He was also paralyzed with what is called transient immune paralysis.  Three times on Friday the family was called into the room to say their goodbyes.

But anyone who knows Frank knows that the story could not end that way.  He spent many weeks in intensive care at the hospital followed by in-hospital rehabilitation.  The paralysis has faded and all internal organs, with the exception of his lungs, have returned to normal.  Frank's lungs and muscular system suffered extreme damage.  The doctors all believe that his muscular strength will return through steady rehabilitation.  They expect that, within a year, he will be back to full strength with the exception of his lungs, about which there is still a fair amount of uncertainty.  Frank is continuing his rehabilitation and recovery from his home and on an outpatient basis.  The benefit is to raise money to help cover his enormous medical bills and other living expenses.

There will be T-Shirts available with the Frankapalooza  logo on sale at the event with all proceeds going to Frank and his family.
