Try something new!  Go to www.smcl.org and use the quick-search box at the top or just click on "Catalog."

The Peninsula Library System was chosen to be the second library system in the nation to test a new library catalog interface: WorldCat Local. WorldCat Local is a product of the OCLC, an organization that facilitates information and catalog sharing between libraries worldwide. You can be a part of shaping this new product by trying it out and sending your feedback to the OCLC by clicking on the "feedback" link on any of the catalog's screens.

WorldCat Local allows you access the catalogs of thousands of libraries. This is particularly useful in the Bay Area where you might be interested in the holdings of universities or library systems nearby.  WorldCat also has search features that today's Internet users have come to expect: a Google-like search box, giving you a "did you mean...." suggestion so you will get results despite typos, and the ability to quickly revise your search by clicking on related topics in the left screen column.  Try it out and let us know what you think!

The San Mateo County Library is proud to offer Live Homework Help, a free service for students connecting you with online tutors to help you with your homework.

The service is available for 4th – 12th grade and college introduction level students in English, seven days a week from 1 PM – 10 PM, and in Spanish, Sunday-Thursday from 1 pm – 7 pm.

Live Homework Help connects students to a real live tutor. Children and young adults can access the service from within the library or from home by visiting the San Mateo County Library website, enter their grade level and the subject they need help in, and within a few minutes or less are connected to an expert tutor. Students can receive help in math, science, social studies or English.
