EARLY AUDITIONS FOR STUDENTS....
We have space for drop in students during our last three classes: Classes 6 (props), 7 (mock-auditions/feedback), and 8 (pre-auditions/practice). Classes are Thursdays 7-8:30pm and are held at the Colorado Contemporary Dance Academy just ten minutes east of downtown. They are located at 7505 E 35th Avenue Unit 340 in Denver 80238. Their phone number is 303.333.1885. Please only call them for directions. Our students (those that attend at least one class in addition to class 8 audition opportunity) will have the opportunity to audition first.
If we find what we are looking for within our class, we will invite those that pass class 8 auditions to a second audition where they will dance alongside Tantalize 2009 members that are interested in Tantalize 2010 (Tantalize 2009 automatically enters round 2 auditions). It is our hope that we find our 2010 team from class to avoid hosting auditions for non-students.
These early auditions during class 8 are only for students and are not available to non-students. Check blog for class details and info on becoming a drop in student.

AFTER OUR CLASS....
Following our classes if we have not found what we are looking for, or if we do not have a complete team, auditions will open up to non-students. Our auditions will be Sunday, December 6 at 6pm. Auditions could last up to 4 hours so plan accordingly. Auditions are at the Colorado Contemporary Dance Academy just ten minutes east of downtown. They are located at 7505 E 35th Avenue Unit 340 in Denver 80238. Their phone number is 303.333.1885. Again, only call this number for directions.
.. ..
Space is limited. We have received more audition requests this year than ever before so be sure to request your audition early. Auditions will be scheduled on a first come first served basis. You will receive an email response to your myspace message as confirmation of your audition. ....

Clothing, Hair, Makeup- ....
Females will need to wear tighter fitting clothes. They need to wear boy cut booty shorts or a skirt as short as the booty shorts (with shorts underneath-duh) and a small top that reveals the entire stomach (bikini top, bra). They will also need to wear GO GO boots (no boot covers, tennis shoes, etc). Obviously all Tantalize designs will work. They are on sale at Nu World located at 244 South Broadway in Denver. Their phone number is 303.955.2573. There are no color requirements for any of the clothing. Females are expected to arrive looking their best with full makeup and hair complete. Males should also look their best and can wear anything. Tip: don’t over accessorize, do overdo the makeup and hair. ....
.. ..
Arrive-
On time! Points will be deducted for tardiness. If you can't arrive on time to the audition how the hell can I expect you to arrive on time to makeup and hair appts. or your dance set? Timeliness is essential. If you don't know where the studio is, it may be a good idea to check it out early.
Bring- ....
A state issued photo ID (you need to be at least 18 years old in order to dance at an event), additional photos or a comp card if you would like them to be considered (maximum of three), a water bottle, and a pen and paper for taking notes.....
.. ..
Audition Schedule-....
The preliminary part of the audition is devoted to a quick overview of Tantalize. Jlynn will discuss the commitment (arriving on time, dancing as scheduled, being a team player, working outside of Tantalize, etc.) and the Tantalize image. If you don’t feel like you can represent Tantalize in a manner consistent with it’s image, or you do not feel like you can fill the commitment, you could head out at that time. ....
.. ..
Those who remain will have the opportunity to dance for the judge(s). All dancers may be asked to perform as an entire group, in divided groups, and individually. Dancers will be judged on stamina (you have to be able to dance at LEAST 15 minute sets), form (confident posture and facial expression) and style (limited repetition and wide movements).....
.. ..
If you pass to round 2 you will be competing against students that have made it through round 1 auditions during class 8 and Tantalize 2009 members that automatically enter round 2. Students and Tantalize 2009 members that attend round 2 should arrive no later than 7pm.
Audition Results-....
The 2010 team will be posted on the Tantalize myspace page before December 13th 2009....

QUESTIONS
Please read through audition info in this blog and the info on our main page before sending me questions. It’s annoying to answer the same question over and over again when the answer is on the page. As I receive questions that have not been answered, I’ll start an FAQ section so I would recommend checking that.....
.. ..
It may also be helpful for you to get in touch with members of our current 2009 team to inquire about their experience.....

Thanks for your interest and I hope to see you there! ....

FAQ
1. I'm 17. Can I still audition?
* You can attend the classes and you can audition. Be advised if you make the 2010 team you will not be able to dance or pose in any photo shoot until your 18th birthday. For this reason, we will only consider those that will be 18 in February.
2. I have to work Sundays. Is there another time I can audition if I'm not a student?
* No, not this year. As of now our only audition times are during class 8 and on December 6th. You can drop in and attend our class 8 audition as long as you have attended another class, you can find a way to attend auditions on December 6, or you can wait to audition for Tantalize 2011.
3. I would like to attend class 7 so I can get some feedback before I attend class 8 auditions. What should I wear to class 7 for the mock audition?
* Dress as you would for an ordinary audition. The feedback you will receive during class 8 will include feedback on hair, makeup, and outfit so come looking your best (details in clothing, hair, makeup section above). Attending class 7 is a great idea because you get the feedback you need and one week to consider feedback and improve before class 8 auditions. Those that attend class 7 also get a list of tips, tricks of the trade, and do's and dont's that are very helpful!
4. Do you take guys?
* Absolutely. Carlos has been with Tantalize since 2005. We also schedule male performers: fire dancers, stilt walkers, etc. If you have a talent and are interested in performing as something other than a dancer, you should specify this when you request your audition.
5. What is the commitment?
* Dancers are expected to advertise and promote all Tantalize functions on myspace and in the dance community. In addition to dance events, they are expected to attend photo shoots, appearances, and team gatherings. You have to be a team player. We have 6-8 dance events a year and usually have at least 1 other monthly event (photo shoot, get together).
6. Is there an opportunity to get paid?
* Yep. This info is on the page. I'll elaborate: The team players get guest passes they can sell for cash. Any Tantalize member that coordinates a booking for a paid promo, gig, etc. gets a percentage of the payment received for the gig. The more you do, the more money you get. We do not pay every single dancer in cash every single time they dance. You have to work for payment. If the team decides to venture into a club at some point, this could change but as of now, the team has not went into the clubs. Dancers do receive gift bags from time to time with go go gear and other goodies. They also have access to photos from shoots.
7. I don't have modeling photos to bring for the audition. Is that okay?
* Yes, that is okay. You are not required to bring photos. Everybody that auditions has the opportunity to bring photos, professional, or unprofessional. Photos will not be returned. They aid in showcasing a dancer's versatility and different looks so it is advantageous but again, not required.
8. Does Tantalize need a hair stylist?
* If you are interested in supporting Tantalize through doing hair, makeup, nails, tanning sessions, photography, videography, etc. send me the details of what you do and how you want to be recognized for efforts.
