A few months ago, I provided lyrics translation and recorded backing vocals for a song called "Us and Them" for Anthony Burbidge's "The Great Awakening" album. The song has this Middle Eastern vibe with a great message about our shared humanity. With its great message, English and Arabic lyrics, and interesting choice of Middle Eastern instruments, the song is not less than astounding and haunting. You can learn more about Anthony and listen to the song (and both of his albums) on his website and on his myspace.

On another note, the mixing of my album is done. Mastering will take place in Canada in April, and shortely aftewards, the album will be available online. I will be posting the cover artwork and song list next week. Stay tuned :)

Finally after long months of fast (and sometimes very slow) progress, the final recording session for my debut album ended at midnight on October 30th. The process has taken about 17 months with many long breaks in between. The long process has given me the time to collect new ideas and write new songs for a second album while the first album was still being recorded. I'm very excited about the new songs, but I have to curb my enthusiasm for now and concentrate on releasing the album. I will be posting more information and samples as we get closer to the release date, so stay tuned :)

Time seems to be going quickly while work is slowly being done. I can't believe 2007 is already over and that this page is almost one year old. The year 2007 had really good highs and a few lows here and there. Fortunately, the long-run effect of the "lows" is turning out to be really good and very inspiring. The tasks at hand aren't easy, but things are definitely looking up. I have finished recording 8 songs more or less for the collection. Of course, some final touches should be added to some and more work should be done on others.  I'm working on 4 other songs trying to polish them enough in hope of taking them to the studio once the rest of the collection is recorded and mixed properly. This two-song sample I justed posted is a taste of what is to come in the near future.

I would like to thank you all for the support and for listening in 2007.Here is to a much more exciting year 2008.

Happy New Year,

Rami

A close friend of mine contacted me three months ago with a request regarding a project of his. He wrote the script of a movie he's working on with another friend. The movie, titled "imitation of life" for now, is supposed to include one scene with a local band performing a song called "without you". So here was my part in this equation - writing a song with the lyrics my friend wrote. I'll keep you posted about any information about the movie.

"Without you" lyrics written by H.A. Aioub

The wind blows so heavily, the roses blossom no more
My reflection in the river is stranger than before
The bird songs are silent, whispers fill the air
Your hand no longer softly, comfortably washes my hair

I can't withstand the ocean, in time I knew its true
That I can't sustain my breath in darkness without you

The wind still blow so heavily, darkness came nigh
People are flying aimlessly trying to touch the sky
Silver is falling from my eyes but they cant hear my cry
And I keep asking myself wondering without knowing why

When all my colors turned to gray, when violet became blue
I know I can't sustain my breath in darkness without you

Without you…without you

Take care and stay tuned,

Rami

I recently wrote the lyrics and the vocal melody for one of the tracks of the Missouri-based band, Pascow. You can take a listen to the song "The Beginning" along with three other excellent tracks on their myspace page.

Here are the lyrics of "The Beginning":

A sea of unparalleled pleasure
Rises up and floods your existence
Don't you know it can quench the thirst
Of life and set you free

Forever (a new journey)
Forever (a new beginning)

A series of exceptional experiences
Unravels horizons and worlds for you
Have no fear there's no limit
Arms are wide open in wait

Another Tristâmic version of the song is on the making as we speak. Hopefully, I'll have something new to share with you guys soon. :)
