During our day off last weekend in NYC, Eric, Mike and I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Where was J5, you may be asking? It's a real long story and I'd rather not go into it and because it really has no relevance on this blog, so I'll leave it at that. So back to the museum. I was impressed by many of the exhibits, like the Egyptian and the musical instruments and very larege tapestries and then I walked into the Modern Art section. First there were some large canvases which looked like people just poured paint randomly on them. I was ok with these because there was something to look at and interpret. Then I saw 2 black circles on a white canvas. Ok, simple, yet I still didn't get it and I was slowly getting mad. But I had yet to see the piece that pushed me over the edge. It was a canvas painted blue. That's it. A big blue canvas. I took a closer look to see if I could make out anything. Nope. Still blue and big. And I'm sorry to say that I didn't take a picture of it because I didn't want to waste the batteries or space on the camera's memory on this. So maybe I just don't "get it" or maybe no one really gets it and most of these just end up as art because everyone in the scene thinks they should like it so if enough people think something is "art" then it's art. Anyways, if you can help with the blue canvas I'm open to hearing your ideas. And if you want to see more pics of of our day in NYC, head over to our facebook page. (Am I allowed to promote facebook on myspace?) -adam

Current mood: voluminous
Some of you might have noticed the lack of saxophone on "Famous" from the Fox 25 morning news. It's not that I wasn't feeling up to playing (being 8:30am) or that I thought I could just look "cool" and do my best impersonation of Ashley Simpson on Saturday Night Live. Turns out the sound guy was having "technical difficulties". He came up to me after we finished the recording and was like "I just lost the signal from your sax, " to which I replied, "Did you get anything?" and the answer was of course, "No." So I was pissed but we got to do another tune and it worked that time. I was trying to think of some moral to this story or a piece of advice to take away from it, but there really isn't anything. It just happens that sometimes sound guys suck, sometimes cables suck, and sometime's they both suck which leads to major suckage. adam

As some of you may know, we took the past couple months off the road and worked on new songs for an upcoming album. And if you didn't know, you do now as long as you can read. And if you can't read than you shouldn't have opened a blog because blog's have words. Sometimes pictures, but mostly words. Occasionally videos too. And while I'm on the topic of videos, here's one from the studio. It's J5 laying down some sounds from the far east. More info and videos from the studio to come soon! First off, let me say that I apologize for not writing with anything even vaguely approaching regularity. My bad... (I'm so unhip...I think that phrase died a couple of years ago...a moment of silence for its passing...ok. Thanks)I'm on a plane to Albuquerque now (or actually Minneapolis en route to the ABQ). But at any rate I'm struck by the fact that here at 33000 feet is the first time I've actually seen a sunset in what seems like ages. It's something I don't think about too often living in the city, but I miss the open sky to the west that opens up your frame for a sunset. Don't get me wrong, I love Boston (or, rather, Somerville) but being in the west with a clear view down the valley to a setting sun is one of life's great pleasures, and I highly recommend a visit if you've never been.Admittedly, Boston has great sunrises out over the water (lord knows an ocean is flat enough to have a clear view), but why would I want to be awake so early? For God's sake, there's a reason why you have to set an alarm to force yourself to get up that early - - - It's just not natural!!Anyway, there you have my thought for the day. I just got very disoriented looking out the window. I looked out the window of the plane and didn't realize that we were turning...crikey...I'm not a very good flier...See y'all at a show sometime...M
