This next Wed. (10/01) we play at Lee's which is my home away from home and is a classic roadhouse type of hole-in-the wall.  It attracts great root rock acts from all over North America.  I also like the Elvis memorabilia and wood paneling.  IF you're looking for a crumpy old curmudgeon of a bartender to serve  yer booze, this is your place!  We sometimes play at Famous Dave's in Uptown which has a great selection of beers and, of course, huge meals and good ribs. Trendy uptown folk wander in from time to time.  I like this club because people who wouldn't normally go see our band stumble across us and we get the chance to win a few converts! The downside is the dance floor is concrete but there's plenty of room to dance because most of the patrons are eating.  An offbeat venue we play is Memory Lanes in SE Mpls not far from the Lake Street Cub Foods and the Hexagon.  Upside is that you can bowl and they have a decent food menu.  Also you don't have to be 21 to see a band there.  Across the way is the Hexagon, which we play with the colorful combo, Big Surf a few times a year when they have Surf night.  If you haven't been to the Hex, you need to check it out at least once.  It's a total neighborhood bar and they have a wide variety of bands, surf punk, rockabilly, 60's etc.   An equally low-brow club we play at is Club Underground in NE which is actually the basement of the Spring Street Tavern.  I feel like I'm in someone's rec-room whenver we play there.   Kudos for Dan of Twin Cities Rockabilly  for regularly  scheduling cool bands there  and promoting rockabilly in general.   More blogs to come!
