Bass is ace. Chrishan has been laying down some bountiful bottom end to our debut album. We have whittled the track listing down to the following songs so far:

Silver
Gripped On Grim
The Kids Are Creeping Up
A Slip Could Kill Us From This Height
Napoleon
Like Not Love
Tell Me Everything
Everything Will Change
Light Feet Over Lava
Grooming For Greatness
Vulture Culture
Bit By Fit
Lost In Low Cloud

Recording is going very well aside from the the battle to breakaway from the bad bad barrage Bronte's never stopping construction work. We should be finished recording very soon, but we really want to make this record stay interesting for hundreds of listens so we'll keep burning the midnight oil until it is rich beyond belief.

This blog post was brought to you by the letter B.

Hello dear friends,

Here in Flying Foxes country we have been keeping busy conjuring some magic moments for our debut album. Meanwhile, across town, our beloved FBi community radio station has signaled for help. Out of the cave we come to join The Dolly Rocker Movement (featuring our own Christopher J. Rudge), Matthew J Tow (The Lovetones), Warhorse and Joysticks this Saturday June 20 at Spectrum in Sydney to raise some much needed funds in the name of radio diversity.

FBi 94.5FM is an independent, community-based radio station, delivering the best in new music and emerging culture. FBi plays 50% Australian music, with half of that from Sydney. They're on the ropes at the moment, so please come along and be part of a great community initiative.

P.S. If you're feeling especially gallant then head over to FBI's website and become a supporter  (you might even win a trip to LA or London too!)

Tickets are $12 from Moshtix:

Hello friends,

Just a reminder that we are in fact very much alive. We're currently working on our debut album. This week our studio has seen some very flashy guitar work that I am exceedingly excited about. In spite of the current wider obsession with synths I have instead fallen in love with this instrument all over again. It is my mission to use guitars in ways that don't sound like guitars as we know them. I can't wait to share these sounds... soon...

Just to prove we're still alive, we're playing a special benefit at Spectrum on Saturday June 20 to raise money for Sydney's beloved independent radio station FBi. They're in trouble so we're trying to raise some money to keep them on the airwaves. Tickets are available now from Moshtix:

http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=27661

The line up includes:

The Dolly Rocker Movement (featuring our very own Christopher J. Rudge)

Matthew J Tow (The Lovetones)

Flying Foxes

Warhorse

Joysticks

You can also help FBi and win $50k in the process by heading to www.askrichard.com.au

Very truly yours,

Tavis

THANKS
Thank you to all of the lovely ladies and gentlemen who have shaken their hips with us along the East Coast of Australia over the last two months.

Melbourne was too hot to handle (no really, shows in 46, 47 & 36 degree heat?). Brisbane was brilliant, ending with a long night out with three very tall Scandinavians with an uncanny grasp of the English language, otherwise known as Who Made Who. Somehow, those guys made ensembles of Batman masks & boxers, medieval pageboy garbs and guitars make a lot of sense. The highlight came in our hometown of Sydney with amazing sets from Seekae, Hot Little Hands, and Ivan from Ghoul to an amazingly animated crowd.

THIS WEEK
We've temporarily come out of album induced hibernation for the Homebake competition at The Hopetoun Hotel in Sydney next Monday March 16. We are throwing down the gauntlet to respected colleagues The Magnetic Heads (led by the irresistible Des Miller) and Bearhug (formerly Skeletal Explosive). The night will be all the more interesting for the fact that our very own Christopher J. Rudge (of Dolly Rocker Movement fame) is also the drummer for The Magnetic Heads. Torn loyalties, animals, dancing... who needs Monday night TV? Entry is just $6 and doors open at 7:30pm.

The Magnetic Heads are the latest creation of Sydney folk/plastic soul institution Des Miller, comprising four of his most talented friends. Bearhug are brimming with confidence after their track Snow Leopard was hand picked to join the enviable cast of the excellent Spunk Records Singles Club.

At just $6, it's cheaper than chips so please come and say hi if you're in Sydney town.

AND THEN
This month we begin work on our debut album which is to be titled Everything Will Change. What can you expect? The soundtrack for roaring fires on icy evenings and sunshowers. Surprises aplenty!

FREE
SONG
Against the backdrop of the overwhelming majority of respected scientists throwing their wiry frames behind the theory that The Devil Finds Work For Idle hands, we are glad to present our song Lost In Low Cloud as a FREE download. Head over to our audio fanzine page now! This offer is for a limited time only (while compliments last).

Where are those bongos coming from? In think there might be some unauthorised fire twirling going on at the local beach...

Very truly yours,
FLYING FOXES
