Blue Devil Productions is proud to present Mason Jennings and special
guests Kristen Korkowski and Rae Cassidy. The artists are scheduled to
perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Wednesday, April 8th,
2009 at 8 pm in the Great Hall, located on the upper level of the
Memorial Student Center.

The modern day folk artist Mason Jennings has been writing music out of
his adopted home in Minneapolis for the past 18 years. His sixth record
(on Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Label) In The Ever was
recordedout of a cabin in the woods, capturing an authentic sound.
Jennings’ soulful lyrics and raw acoustic guitar create “soothing
melodies that play well by land and sea alike.” (Relix) Mason Jennings’
music is similar to that of Bob Dylan, Elliot Smith and Ben Harper.

UW-Stout student Kristen Korkowski is in the process of recording her
first album. Her powerful raspy voice accompanied by her piano playing
is reminiscent of her influences Missy Higgins, Kate Nash, and Chris
Koza.

Brookfield Wisconsin’s Rae Cassidy is known for her “dreamy voice,
low-fi atmospherics and intimate strumming.” (onmilwaukee). Her vintage
voice brings us back to the 1920’s, on the same wavelengths of Ella
Fitzgerald.

This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of
Wisconsin-Stout. Tickets to this event are $9 for UW-Stout students and
$15 for the public. Tickets are available at tickets.uwstout.edu or at
the Memorial Student Center service desk.  Doors open at 7pm. Please
call (715) 232-2432 or go to bdp.uwstout.edu for more information.

Current mood:  enlightened

Blue Devil Productions is proud to present Romantica with The Illness Project. The artists are scheduled to perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 8 p.m. in the Underground, located on the lower level of the Memorial Student Center.

By way of Belfast Ireland, Ben Kyle the lead singer of Romantica puts his own Irish accent on Americana folk music. Now a Minnesota musician, Ben Kyle's smooth and often times haunting voice has been compared to Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Ryan Adams who lends his vocals to Romantica's "The Dark." Romantica's latest album America which reveals images of Ireland as well as Minnesota received much acclaim in 2007. Paste magazine gave America four stars and also took the 58th place on Paste's Top 100 Albums of 2007. The Star Tribune also named America one of the Top 10 Minnesota Albums of the year. Romantica entices audiences with their effortless sound and ease, a show not to be missed.

Supporting Romantica is Minneapolis The Illness Project, a two man loop troop with clever acoustics, smart rhythms and ambient infused music. Brothers Ryan and Joe Hughes make up the Illness Project, Ryan on vocals, guitar, and synthesizer and Joe on drums and percussion. Their format is similar to the Make It Out Of Menomonie contest runners up From Whence You Came.
