 BIBLE STUDY REMINDER
7pm RIVERSIDE STARBUCKS
HOW TO SHARE YOUR FAITH (Worksheet part 1 | Worksheet part 2)
Have you ever had the joy of leading someone to a relationship with Jesus Christ? Have you ever wanted to but feel your scared or intimidated by what they may say, or ask a question you do not know the answer to?

Jesus said you will be my witnesses in your home, in your town, in your city, state, and country world (Acts 1:8 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.)

Jesus said we are to go out make disciples of all nations.

We're all called to share our faith in Jesus Christ in some capicity. The Bible says Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.

Tonights Bible study covers "How to share your faith"

you may click here to download a jpg of the study and review the verses we're covering tonight,

in addition to on your own time...

in the meantime here are some encouraging verses that don't say much, yet drew people into a relationship with Christ Jesus

Nathanial shared "John 1:46 And Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

The woman at the well said, John 4:29 Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

The angels preached: Matthew 28:6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Peter preached "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Calvary Fellowship GreenwichProverbs 19:11 (kjv)
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
(read chapter)

Proverbs 19:11 (nlt)
People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.
(read chapter)

When was the last time we overlooked a transgression, or when was the last time we forgave, water under the bridge. When was the last time we overlooked an offense from our spouse, our children, mother father, sister, brother...

Our personal forgiveness from God is tied into how we forgive others. Jesus said But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15 read chapter)

A lot of the weight we're carrying around has to do with; not finding forgiveness from God because we've been holding a charge against someone else. Since it's God's nature to forgive (oh don't be shocked, God's nature is forgiveness first), he desires for us to always open the door to forgiveness and reconcilliation. The door of opportunity is opened so wide now, you can email, text, skype, or what ever it takes; smoke signals, egreeting cards etc...

Don't wait, take a moment and tell the Lord that  you want to and have forgiven that person you've been holding an offense against, and then contact them letting them know of your intentions, and don't immediately assume everything is ok, let time expose the truth of your actions.

Peace and be blessed.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore F166 and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen (Read Chapter )

Have you ever heard the term, “Stop in the name of the law”? Hopefully it wasn’t because you personally were being addressed by an officer.  The term was adopted by police officers in an attempt to stop a criminal suspect, identifying themselves as ones whom are in the authority to order you to stop.

There are some sects that teach that “Jesus, and the Holy Spirit” are solely one entity, rather than 2 distinct persons.  They do this by looking at the phrase “Baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” and saying “What is the name of the Holy Spirit”.  The error is, its not about the name, its about the authority represented by the name.

To baptize in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit, means to baptize in the authority of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, recognizing that you have been commissioned by God to do so. Its often been said that the great commission to the church, has become the great omission by the church. Not only was the church to Baptize, but we’re also to teach others to observe all that Jesus has commanded us. Its important to note that Jesus commanded us to “teach others”, we’re not to “demand” others. If we’re teaching others to observe all that Jesus has commanded us, that means we are to live out the life that we were so called to live, and by examining our life, the lost will learn 1, who Jesus is, through our lives, and 2 how to live sold out for Him!

If you have made a commitment to Jesus Christ, and have not yet been baptized into the new life with Christ, the submersion into water (symbolic of )killing off the old nature, and coming out of the water professing your new life with Christ. I encourage you to let your pastor, family or friends know you desire to be baptized.

(Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Read Chapter )

2 5:17 Corinthians Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.  (Read Chapter )

Psalm 5:12
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

During times of distress, whether they be physical, psychological, or even like today economical, the tendency is to say "where is God, did he fall asleep while watching over me, has he forsaken me". Something worse than entertaining that thought, is usually the next place the thought takes us "obviously God is still on the throne, so God must be mad at me, and that's why these things are happening"

Yet guilt is not of God, God said He will never leave us or forsake us, and that nothing can seperate us from God's love for us in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39, Read Chapter)

"My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts." (
Isaiah 55:8-9, Read Chapter)

God's plan for your life is far more greater than any plan you could have written yourself and actually lived every moment according to it. The key is trusting God to work it out. This week as your challenged take a step of faith by reacting differently to a circumstance that may occur and watch God work it out!

All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28, Read Chapter)

The real problem is our "vision of the circumstances", we walk by faith and not by sight, when we observe the things of this world and they had not been foretold by God, we then trivialize the calamity, we begin to say "God must be doing this because".... ultimately the reality of what we're saying is "If I were God I would be doing this because, or if I were God, I would do it this way, or that way..." (Praise the Lord none of us are God!)

John 10:27     My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

Recently. we added a dog to our family. This pup is about 2 years old , raised on the streets of Puerto Rico. The animal welfare society advised us not to take the dog off the leash because chances are she will just run and take off . I await the day she's able to get off the leash , but at this time she doesn't recognize our voice and commands so she stays on the leash.

So many not yet Christians, and luke warm Christians, will continue to be leashed to bondage, whether it be to pride, drugs, alcohol, or whatever it may be because they still do not recognize the voice of Jesus setting them free!

There will come a time when the new dog "Eva" will be able to be off the leash, without any fear of straying, but it is going to take intimacy, and constant communication between us and her, before she understands fully our commands and desires for her when she is out and about on her own in a park or at the beach.

Have you heard him today, you too can be set free. The bible says Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Bondage will always keep you thirsty, Jesus desires to quench your thirst with living water that you may never thirst again for anything more than Him

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; (Read Chapter)

Its been said faith is like a muscle it needs to be exercised or it will get all bent out of shape.

Millions every Dec 31st make the resolution to "Diet/Lose Weight/Exercise"... did you know the average new years resolution is kept for less than 2 weeks (I'm guilty LOL)? Is your faith being exercised? To exercise your faith, it takes stepping out into the unknown and leaving the results up to God. Maybe you've heard from God, maybe you thought you heard from God, maybe your not sure if you've ever heard from God, yet trusting God is looking out for your best interests in all you do is all God needs, like the modern day proverb says "give God something to work with"

Faith isn't about how much you have, its about what you do with it. The Bible says "God has dealt to each one a measure of faith" (Romans 12:3 Read Chapter). Jesus said "if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20 Read Chapter). Don't look at how big the mountain is, look at how big God is!

For the Bible says "without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6 Read Chapter)

Luke Chapter 4 (Read Chapter) is a very moving chapter. In verse 1 we read Jesus was "filled with spirit" and then "led by the spirit" into the wilderness and was tempted. After Jesus averted every temptation of the devil he returned to Galilee in the "power of the spirit". Then when he had returned to Nazareth, he entered the synagogue, took a scroll and read from the scriptures the prophecy of Isaiah 61:1-3 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, (Read Chapter)

It was from this point that Jesus' ministry came into full swing. How was your walk with the Lord this past year? No matter how it was, you can be encouraged for the upcoming year that it can be closer than the year before. Who doesn't want to see the Lord move greater through their life this year more than last year? Allow for the Holy Spirit to define your New Years Resolution for your life this upcoming year.

Like Jesus, seek to be "filled with the spirit", "Led by the spirit" "going forth in the power of the spirit" and "having the spirit rest upon you"! It is with this that I guarantee God will move on your behalf because the Bible says "seek ye first the kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. In these last days and times, the world is drawing closer and stronger in stifling the message of the Gospel, yet the "dunamis/dynamite" power of the Lord (Acts 1:8 Read Chapter)  is upon you all to preach the acceptable year of the Lord!

Matthew 2:1,2  Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him." (read chapter)

Many families have different Christmas gift opening traditions. Some open one gift at midnight. My friends the Amereno's open "every gift" at midnight, so they can sleep in Christmas morning. Our family tradition was to only open gifts on Christmas morning, a tradition I still hold to today that drives my wife and kids crazy, because when you receive a gift the natural response is to open it. Even if it's a gift from a co worker, it goes under the tree till Christmas morning. Now here's another preference in tradition of unwrapping gifts, some will look for the best gift and unwrap it first, and others of us wait to crescendo and open the best gift last. Yet all of us have that one oddball gift you know you're re-gifting and it's simply going to stay wrapped because the contents didn't have any value to you personally inside.

The nation of Israel after being set free from slavery to the Egyptians and while wandering in the wilderness began to complain to Moses and God saying "why have you brought us out into the wilderness to die?" So God sent serpents to bite the complainers, and at that time some died, and others suffered great pain. While in their suffering God told Moses to set up a bronze serpent on a pole, and all those bitten and suffering and want healing need to simply look at the pole and the serpent and they will be healed Numbers 21:4-9 (read chapter). Can you imagine that some of the people still didn't unwrap that simple gift of just looking at the serpent on the pole (similar to the symbol you see at a doctor's office)?

Today we live in a time of total uncertainty, and my heart truly goes out to those that have suffered financially this year whether its stocks bottoming out, or the job loss (of which both I and my wife lost our job's this year). Whatever your situation, despair or suffering, some have learned to trust in Jesus, and have seen him come through time and time again without fail. Yet others of you like the children in the wilderness have yet to simply gaze upon Jesus and receive healing.

Some have said that the bible never says, you have to "receive Jesus" in order to be saved. False. The gift of salvation through Jesus Christ all be it free, is a gift that must be unwrapped in order to receive.  The Bible says "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:" John 1:12 (read chapter). Will the gift of salvation be the only gift unwrapped for you this Christmas season? It's the gift that you don't have to wait to unwrap its available to you now!

Have A Very Merry Christmas!

Matthew 1:23  "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." (read chapter)

Can you imagine what the first Christmas without Jesus, must have been like for Mary? Remember Mary, while still a virgin, was told by the Angel Gabriel, that she was with child by the Holy Ghost, by God's will and not man's will, she conceived and bore a child and named him Jesus.

Mary watched Jesus as he grew in stature and in knowledge as the Bible says. She even experienced the inadequacies of motherhood when she for a moment lost Jesus, and couldn't find him because he was studying and teaching in the temple. I'm sure she must have looked back and laughed with great joy and pride when Jesus performed his first miracle turning water into wine. I'm sure she experienced motherly envy when she came out to see Jesus one day  while He was ministering, and Jesus told the crowds Matthew 12:50, "For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother." (read chapter) placing her on the same level as anybody else. And also felt horror and grief as she experienced the death of her son on a cross, for the sins of the world. And every Christmas there after (Christmas for Mary would have been remembering the day she brought the savior into the world, and at this point, only she God and Joseph know the exact day) reflecting on the birth, life, death and resurrection moments she spent with her son.

Many of us can relate to Mary at this point, wanting nothing more than to have that loved one "with us" Christmas eve, morning and dinner, and every waking moment there after or before.

Mary also experienced something special that is available to all of us. Mary was told that her child would be called "Immanuel, being interpreted God is with us". Not only did Mary conceive a child of the holy ghost, she (and the disciples) were  later filled with the Holy Ghost at the day of Pentecost, and forever, the Bible says "Christ in you is the hope of glory". Colossians 1:27 (read chapter)

Many unlike Mary have yet to experience "God with-in us" many have not yet made a commitment   to Jesus Christ, many still exchange gifts on the 25th, tell people Merry Christmas, and attend a mass service but still have not yet experienced "God with-in us" and are still experiencing "Christmas without Jesus"

Let this not be another Christmas without Jesus...If you have never made a commitment   to Jesus Christ, and trusted Him as your Lord and savior, and sole means of going to heaven one day, take a moment and confess to God that you are a sinner in need of a savior and recognize that Jesus Christ died for your sins. And that you repent of your rebellion against Him, and want to now live with him, and have him live in you!

In Jesus Name, Amen

For those experiencing this time with one less loved one, our hearts and prayers are lifted up for you, and pray the Lord comforts you during this time and gives you that special moment that you long for during these times to know that loved one is still with you, whether it be a certain smell, a type of gift, memory saying etc
