Category: Parties and Nightlife

Well first off, ever since August when I found out about the meet and greets (M&G) with New Kids on the Block, I have been in a whirl of frenzy! From my previous blog about my first experience meeting the boys, it is obvious that it would be very hard to top that day. This day, November 26th came pretty close.

The day started early. Clouds covered the sky, the air was chilly, and soon after 8am the rain started pouring down. Regardless of the weather, nothing was going to slow us down. Around 11:30 my co-worker Lisa and her 6yr old daughter Jazlin arrived. Jazlin had no idea about the day that lay ahead of her - Donnie is her favourite and she thought we were getting ready to go watch an NKOTB movie with other fans. Little did she know that this was going to be her first concert and much much more!

We were soon on the road to the Nokia Theatre. Again, I purposely wanted to arrive early in hopes to get a glimpse of our boys arriving. We were lucky that the rain trickled in spurts. I'm not sure of the time really but we all got glimpses of Danny, Jordan, and Joey arriving. We got a few waves, pictures and a small video clip of Joey. Shortly after, and as usual, Donnie arrived with open arms. He casually made his way over to the fans to give out hugs, kisses, and autographs. I had my camera at hand and was recording Shauntelle's first contact with Donnie Wahlberg. Her expression was priceless. Tears. Tears. Tears. Donnie heard her call his name, he turned around, saw those tears and immediately smiled and put his arms around her; comforting her. Then we had him sign her shirt; then mine. It was soon over - for now.

Eventually we made our way through to the VIP room. This meet and greet for me personally wasn't nearly as great as the first time but for me to watch Shauntelle like how my mom watched me, was amazing. As soon as Donnie saw Shauntelle in tears of joy again, he was at her side and wrapping his arms around her, asking her if she was feeling any better. After she gained her composure, she made her way over to me and Danny (her "favourite" new kid) and was showing Danny her shirt we had made and the overalls of mine she was sportin'. Danny checked it all out and smiled and soon we were in our position for the group pic. Before the picture was taken though, I heard Donnie say to Jazlin "where do you think you're going" and lifted her up in his arms for the photo shot. BEAUTIFUL! I hope she smiled!!!

As we were walking out, Shauntelle was giving her last hugs to Donnie... and I knew there was something I had planned to ask him but totally forgot and just as he was letting her go, he glanced up at me and smiled  as I mouthed the words to him "thank you." He winked and smiled at me and we left the room.

We got word that Donnie was pissed because he wanted to sign autographs and his body guard was not letting him. To our surprise, Donnie came back into the VIP room to do just that! And although we were to NOT have cameras in hand, I was like"f*ck it!" and took mine out and was recording. I didn't get much because of the crowd but I did get Donnie to sign my VIP pass, Lisa's VIP pass and my NKOTB overalls. Mission complete! Or no wait! I had almost forgot AGAIN and just right before Donnie slipped away behind the door, I frantically reminded Shauntelle to ask him about a lyric to one of the new songs that Michelle and I were debating over. You can scarcely hear the conversation between Donnie and Shuantelle when she asked the question and as if Shauntelle's voice was like music to his ears, he leaned back over to her to listen and answer her question above everyone else's screams and hollers. The question was "whats the beginning lyrics to "Grown Man" and his answer was "yo check out Addidas band." NOW my mission was complete. Although I wasn't completely correct on the lyrics, I was by far closer than what Michelle thought it was. I thought it was "yo check out Addidas fan" and she swore it was "yo check out our latest thang."

Anyway, if that wasn't enough, after we watched Lady Ga Ga, Natasha Beddingfield came on. We were sitting in the first 3 rows and Shauntelle naturally made her way through to the front. Natasha took quite a notice to her and grabbed her hand and smiled. After her performance, me and Shauntelle went back into the VIP room to use the restroom. As we were walking by a table occupied by a couple guys and girls, we both kinda stopped, and looked back at the table, then we looked at eachother and we said "omg is that Nick Lachey?!" It sure was! So we casually introduced ourselves, then went on our way back to our seats. I then grabbed Lisa and Jazlin back to the VIP room and asked Nick if it was ok that we take a picture with him. He had no problem and smiled for the camera. He was very sweet.

The concert was amazing of course and Shauntelle danced to the heavens! All in all... my NKOTB experience was the BEST I could ever wish for.  I never thought I would see the day that I'd actually meet them not once, but twice! All the guys are extremely sweet and they DO care for their fans; their supporters. Donnie has a love for us and he shows it. He goes out of his way and I appreciate all of what the guys have provided and done for us. This experience could not get any better. Or could it? Do I hear a summer tour coming? Traveling? Do I dare?! Ha ha... time will tell...

GRATEFUL

After the show in Vancouver I was talking to a fan- I really don't
like referring to people as fans, so lets say supporter… That feels
better.
So anyway, I was talking about how after the Seattle show (the
following night) we have to get on a plane at 1 in the morning, then
land in LA at 4 am then be up at 7:30 am for soundcheck at the AMA's
and then fittings and then a run thru and then try to get a couple
hours sleep before getting ready for red carpet and then the awards
show at 5 pm and then we are the second performance of the night.
Now when I was saying it, I wasn't really complaining but I guess I
had a little "whoa is me" in my voice, maybe a little dramatic.
And she very dryly said "nice life" with a tad of sarcasm. I got a
good chuckle at it. I've felt that I have been rightly grateful thru
out for all the amazing things that have happened to me/us, but it's
always funny to be checked up on.
All that being said, it was quite a 24 hour period- from rehearsing
once before the show in Tacoma then off to All Access VIP to meet our
supporters (these parties are getting more and more fun… Now groups
are performing for us), then an awesome show in Tacoma, then the
flight where you were lucky to get any sleep with Jon Knight and
Natasha Bedingfield yapping away into the wee hours of the morning.
Then 2 hours sleep then some sort of a run thru in a hazy morning fog.
For me to go back to the hotel after that and close my eyes and close
off all the noise and excitement takes alot of patience and focus.
That's an oxymoron, "trying hard to fall asleep".
But I did cuz I personally would have been a zombie if I didn't.
After all that, the AMA's was a really good time. I felt a solid unity
among us and I thought our performance showed that. Through the whole
whirlwind, we had fun and put together a good performance.
I was not surprised when Donnie told everybody to get up (he's been
doing that for years, but it isn't any less ballsy to do so now) and I
wasn't totally surprised when the whole audience stood up, but it felt
good to feel the love.
I thought the whole show looked amazing with a bunch of great
performances- Beyonce is from another planet, and Ne-yo can handle
that mic stand, huh? It was great to be back at the show. And let me
tell you something, out of all the people there, they were still
screaming our names from the cheap seats… Not during the
performance, I'm talking about when we were sitting in the audience
during commercial breaks.
I didn't hear any other names being shouted.
Those are the kind of fans… I mean supporters we have.
I hear bands and artists say alot how they have the best fans in the
world and I'm sure they feel that way.
I think we have the most special fans in the world.
Xoxoxo

Ahhh... well well well... I finally got my FACETIME with NKOTB on October 8th. My day started with my mom when we arrived at the Staples Center in Los Angeles close to 12pm. We met up with Michelle (a new friend from the New Kids on the Block community) and got to work on making a sign for Donnie "LA IS READY FOR FACE TIME!" There were approx. 20 of us fans hanging around in what felt like 100 degree weather (behaving like adults of course) where the tour busses were parked, hoping to get a glimpse of the New Kids arriving early. During that time, we saw Jordan get into his bus and shortly after, Danny beautifully appeared and hung around conversing with a crew member. Ooh la la! Sexy sexy! I softly yelled "come on Danny! Please give us a smile!!!" and he immediately turned to us, smiled and waved. I got several good pictures of him and about a minute of video. Soon after, *sigh* Donnie arrives... he was driving a Land Rover and out of panic, I ran to the rail followed by my mom with our FACETIME sign... Donnie immediately saw it and he slowed his car down, pointed at us and smiled! My heart was pitter pattering! Could it get any better???

At 4:00 we started to line up to get our 5* VIP meet and greet passes. We were put in groups of 8 or 10 starting with the alphabet; we were letter E. When it was our turn, I was the first in line. My emotions were unexplainable! I stood there trying really hard to wait my turn... Donnie saw me eagerness and totally teased me! It was like a total cat and mouse chase and as soon as he gave me the "ok" I dashed at him with a big ass hug and he held onto me tight! He said "whoa!!! whoa!!! and squeezed me back and forth and slowly backed me up into Danny and totally gave me a Double D sandwhich! I was inbetween Donnie AND Danny! I was in total bliss! Donnie said to me "so whats up baby?" and all I can do is say "I DONT KNOW!!!" Then I just snuggled with Danny and told him "you must be so sick of this by now" and he said "do i  look sick of this? do i look sick of this?! no way" My gawd he smelled fantastic! Then I turned and approached Joey and he said "so whats up? and I was so much in awe that I was actually right there! Joey started laughing with Jon and Jordan at me and again said "whats up? whats the matter? you can't talk?" and I said "NOOOO!!!! LOL" He hugged me and then pointed at my fan club button from 1989 and said "whats this? A fan member button?" lol All I could do was nod! THEN I hugged Jon and Jordan and said thank you to them... then I turned back to Donnie and introduced him to my mom... where he said " yO THATS NOT yO mOm!!! Hi mom!" lol OMG I LOVE DONNIE!!!! I LOVE THEM ALL!

After that we got our group shot taken and then I stood there and under my breath I said "you guys are my life!" wtf? lol My LIFE?! WHAT A GOOBER!!!!  No idea where that came from and I dont think I was even looking at any of them when I said that! just wandering around aimlessly like a lost puppy! Heck! I dont even remember if I even looked at Jon and Jordan! I just hugged them!

Michelle and my mom said that they think I got the best hug from Donnie! Ohh I miss that!

Then the concert started and well... IT KICKED ASS!!!! Check out my pictures of the show! I got fantastic shots of it! I also got great video clips and will upload those soon...

Oh yeah, and if that night wasn't enough, I decided last minute with Michelle to head off and drive to Vegas on Saturday to see them perform at Mandala Bay! THAT was fun! I sure can't wait til Nov. 26th for my next 5* VIP experience with my boys!!!

Cheers!

"i am ~*Clyde*~    most of the time... open arms. open heart. i see through that case. the sheild. i love to seek what is inside because there is so much to explore within another person. the soul is endless and forever changing. good and bad. i love to love. its what i live for; almost inlove (v)anila. there is still some light at the end of that tunnel... for i fear i will never reach it. and that scares me."

All works of art start as potential. Similarly, all relationships start as potential. When I meet a person I try and see not their mask, with its defenses, but whats underneath. I get accused of refusing to acknowledge who a person is choosing to be right now. When that person is arrogant or rude or selfish then my friends say, "Clyde!!!!!! THIS is what this loser is all about." But I say, hold on people, this is only what this person THINKS they are about. So this so-called Loser person is confused. But if no one sees their potential then they may never see it themselves and that would be tragic.   ~*Clitorides*~
