Current mood:ah, well - resigned, perhaps?

If you're flying with a cello and can't afford a seat-- heed my advice!! Double check the oversize baggage fees!! They've gone up.  A lot.  I flew with Delta this weekend for a recording session, and I was, oh, so, not-so-happily surprised to discover that oversize baggage fees are now $175.  That's one way.  Definitely makes the weekend profit a lot less profittable.
Well, at least I love my job!!
I talked to Southwest and at present they still charge $50 for oversize...  guess I know who I'm flying with next time.

p.s. Yes, I'm really moving to Fort Bragg (California) next month

Our first tour with Elameno went off with a splash :) Or several... We managed to hit creeks, oceans, swimming pools and hot springs between our gigs.  We loved staying with our awesome host, Judy, and walking on the beach in Cayucos; invading the hot springs in Ojai with a good portion of our audience, taking dips in the pool between some intense practice sessions in San Diego...  Beyond the beaches, however, the audiences were great.  Thanks soooo much to everyone for coming out and cheering us on! Thanks to those of you who followed us to multiple gigs and made us feel like rock stars.  Thanks for packing into the Red Poppy in S.F. like so many sardines that we thought the building might split.  Thanks for bringing your friends to our shows.  We can't wait to do more!  (Stay tuned for a possible extra-end-of-summer show...)

And meanwhile...  We're so excited to be playing in Berkeley this Saturday and hope to see  you there!!!

Just a few updates... The plan for me to go back to school and be an elementary school teacher has been nixed.  Not that you necessarily knew about the plan, the result, however, is music, music and music!

(Paying gigs and recordings greatly appreciated if you are looking for a cellist.)

I also had so much fun meeting and playing with some really sweet musicians over the last month that we've decided that we have to play more.  So we're going to!  Our first shows will be in Santa Barbara and LA at the end of August, and even if you can't make the shows, you should listen to Rebecca and Dusty play. They're great.  (Tobias is great too, but if he has a myspace page, I can't find it.)

Hurray!!!  The Great American Mondo Cello Fest was a smashing success and so much fun!

If you didn't make it this year, you should keep your eyes open for next year - seriously - I'd go; even if I didn't happen to be playing :)

anyway, thanks to those who made it and if you didn't you should check out some of the acts and start salivating for next time

Thunderschevits: (think Rarrrr on a cello, then add drums)

MrCelloMan: www.mr.celloman.com  (cool, innovative technique with loop pedal etc.)

Unwoman: www.myspace.com/unwoman (relaxing, voice+cello, I didn't hear the whole act 'cuz I was getting ready to play)

PollyPanic: www.myspace.com/pollypanicyahoocom, www.pollypanic.com, (a little more on the anxty, let it out side than some of the acts cello-vocals and drumkit)

Loop!Station: www.loopthis.com, www.myspace.com/loopistation (blow your socks off vocals and lovely cello technique, I felt like maybe I'd walked into the movie Moulan Rouge for some reason)

Zoe Keating: www.myspace.com/zoecello, www.zoekeating.com, (really cool, I think she said pre-show that she gets up to 16 or so layers going as she loops stuff)

So, hope that helps you with your cello-web-surfing for a little bit

and don't forget your friendly cello-pop-rock band: MERCH: www.myspace.com/MERCH  -- but you know us, right?

I've decided to pick a music page of the week that I think is cool and you might not have heard of.

So, we'll start off with:  http://www.myspace.com/slagr

Really beautifull stuff...

And now it's back to faxing my insurance company about my broken bow :(  really nice one, too... great sound for how much i paid for it...

wish me luck with the insurance gods, and the bow-searching since my 2nd bow just doesn't quite cut it.

Catch me taking a solo on the interview with Merch which is this week's edition of www.pacificnoise.com.  Of course, I'm actually sick because I got a bad cold at the start of the st. patty's day week and had late shows and no recovery chance...
