Hurray!!! The Great American Mondo Cello Fest was a smashing success and so much fun!
If you didn't make it this year, you should keep your eyes open for next year - seriously - I'd go; even if I didn't happen to be playing :)
anyway, thanks to those who made it and if you didn't you should check out some of the acts and start salivating for next time
Thunderschevits: (think Rarrrr on a cello, then add drums)
MrCelloMan: www.mr.celloman.com (cool, innovative technique with loop pedal etc.)
Unwoman: www.myspace.com/unwoman (relaxing, voice+cello, I didn't hear the whole act 'cuz I was getting ready to play)
PollyPanic: www.myspace.com/pollypanicyahoocom, www.pollypanic.com, (a little more on the anxty, let it out side than some of the acts cello-vocals and drumkit)
Loop!Station: www.loopthis.com, www.myspace.com/loopistation (blow your socks off vocals and lovely cello technique, I felt like maybe I'd walked into the movie Moulan Rouge for some reason)
Zoe Keating: www.myspace.com/zoecello, www.zoekeating.com, (really cool, I think she said pre-show that she gets up to 16 or so layers going as she loops stuff)
So, hope that helps you with your cello-web-surfing for a little bit
and don't forget your friendly cello-pop-rock band: MERCH: www.myspace.com/MERCH -- but you know us, right?
