The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce held its 1st Annual Hillsborough Battle of the Bands competition on Saturday, April 25th, at the Hillsborough Moose Lodge Family Center.  Eleven local bands registered for the competition, battling for the opportunity to perform at the 27th Annual Hillsborough Hog Day festival.  A panel of judges declared the Hillsborough-based rock-and-roll band, Hot Rooster, as the winner.

Hot Rooster will perform as the featured musical act Saturday, June 20th, at the festival.  Additional information regarding the 27th Annual Hillsborough Hog Day festival can be found online at www.hogdays.com, or by calling (919) 732-8156.

Thanks to all who came out to support local music!  We had a blast!  See you Hog Day!

Current mood:  busy
Hey everybody! Hot Rooster has been busy in the studio this past month, recording our third, as yet un-named CD. OverDub Studios has been great to work with, with Jason as the engineer. We are currently mixing tunes and doing some vocal work. The current tunes in the playlist are the first 5 of 13 (yes 13 new totally original) songs. They are mixed but NOT mastered yet. Take a listen and provide some comments if you want. We crammed a huge day of recording in on a Sunday a few weeks ago, to get the main music tracks on tape. Believe me, there was some sweatin and shuckin and pushing (and napping - see pics) to get it all in - hey, studio time is not cheap! We fund this hobby with gig money so an actual Budget was set for the studio, ugh. but hey, we're not Steely Dan.
We are happy with this new crop of tunes, and to share this work with whoever might appreciate local original rock.

Current mood:  hot
The Roosters will be heading into the studio soon to record their 3rd CD.  As always, they are are convinced that whatever the newest tune is, it is the hottest.  In this case there are 13 of them...  If nothing else there will be an assload of roosterisms recorded for the posterity, the progeny, protaginists and possibly polygamists.
