Laser Chase
Laser Chase is the latest in entertainment, combining the classic games of tag and hide & seek with a high-tech twist. Equipped with sophisticated laser tag equipment, the game is played in a multi-level facility featuring specialty lighting. Players, whether individually or on teams, use their lasers to score as many points as possible by laser-tagging the sensors on their opponents' equipment. Whether you're 8 or 68, the experience is exhilarating!
Translation: This is gonna be a BLAST!!! Tips: There's black lights, and you're gonna want to blend in, so wear black! And there's ramps to the "multi-levels", so ladies leave those fancy shoes at home and lace up something secure. Lastly, wear comfy clothing... just WAIT until you see the dino-rific obstacle course we'll race through! There's also air hockey and arcade games. We'll have a party room from 4p to 5:45p. After the games, we'll head out for food and refreshment (location TBD).
Laser Chase: 615.236.3333, 1806 Williamson Court, Franklin, TN 37067
Directions : From Mallory Lane (adjacent to Cool Springs Galleria), turn at the light onto Crossroads Blvd (not into the mall...the OTHER way!). Then take the first left onto Williamson Ct. Go to the end of the cul-de-sac and you'll see it looming in front of you. Go around back and sneak in....that's where their door is.

Every year, several members of the Harpeth Bike Club participate in this event put on by the Chattanooga Bike Club. There are 100, 62 and 25 mile options, so everyone can find the route that provides the right amount of "Challenge" for them. This ride is one of the southeast's most scenic and challenging centuries. The rigorous 100-mile option will take you through 3 states (Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia) and over 3 mountains (Suck Creek, Sand and Lookout). The gentler 62-mile option climbs only 1 mountain and visits 2 states. The 25-mile option bypasses the mountain and shares the last part of the route with the metric folks.
We caravan/carpool to Chattanooga on Friday, pick up registration packets, then walk a few blocks for dinner, socializing and carbo-loading at the
Big River Grille. Saturday's the big ride, then on Sunday several people who are staying the weekend will check out some area sites, like
"See Rock City", the
Aquarium and maybe take in an IMAX movie before heading home.
Let me know if you are staying and want to be kept in the loop on Sunday activities!

RAGBRAI
Mark your calendars, plan your vacation time now, be thinking about what you're going to do with the kids and/or pets while you're gone to Iowa for the bike trip of a lifetime! RAGBRAI®, The Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa®, is an annual seven-day bicycle ride across the state. Heading into its 35th year, RAGBRAI is the longest, largest and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world.
Charlene Alcorn is organizing the HBC riders and can be contacted at spinjunkie at comcast.net, 615-264-2684 (h) or 615-974-3189 (c).
Registration is limited to 8,500 week-long riders and 1,500 day riders. Participants are chosen by a computer lottery. This lottery can select individuals or groups so that people who wish to participate together are not split up. In order to be considered in the lottery as a group, the members of a group must register as a group, and appoint one person to be the GROUP CONTACT (this is Charlene). Charlene will be responsible for sending one payment to cover all costs of the group, taking delivery of the group's Participant Packet in May, distributing the participants' credentials and jerseys, and registering vehicles.
Follow the link above for more information and to register. When you get to the part that asks you if you want to register with a group, enter:
HBC. After you finish registering Charlene will receive an email notification that you have completed your registration as a member of our group. Do not pay online. All checks are to be payable to Charlene, as she is required to send in one check for our group
prior to the lottery. You must include a signed waiver with your check. Upon completion of your successful registration, a waiver should be automatically downloaded. Print, sign and mail it along with your check to:
Charlene Alcorn
1041 Somerset Downs Blvd
Hendersonville, TN 37075
Registration for 2007 lottery closes April 1, 2007. Lottery results will be available May 1st.
We will be using
Pork Belly Ventures as our Charter Group to haul our gear, stake out our campsites, and provide a bus ride to Omaha when it's all said and done. Check out their website for more details. Charlene will email information about Pork Belly Ventures (PBV) including their services and fees in late January when it becomes available.

Jack & Back
It's time for another popular club event --> Paul Kitchen, has held the #1 fund-raising spot FIVE times!!! Help us fund this worthwhile cause and experience a great weekend of cycling and ride support. Don't miss the tour of the Jack Daniel's Distillery, or the party on the hill that night. You can camp or choose to stay in an area hotel -- either way, the event volunteers are there to assist you every step of the way. This is a fun and popular event with cyclists from all over the middle TN area... and beyond!
The first day of the Jack Daniel's "Bike to Jack & Back" starts in Franklin, TN at Page High School and finishes at Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, TN. This is a beautiful, scenic ride through Tennessee's countryside just on the brink of fall. When you arrive at Motlow State, treat yourself to a massage, a hot shower, set-up your campsite and then catch the bus to Jack Daniel's to take a tour of their incredible distillery. Later that evening you will enjoy all of the Jack Daniel's bar-b-que and catfish that you can eat during the program on the hill under the newly built pavilion overlooking a gorgeous sunset.
Wake up the next morning to a full-catered breakfast provided by Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. After that, it's time to saddle up and head back to Franklin, TN for the finish line celebration!

WINTER
It's winter....dark by the time you leave work, cold, wet....what's a biker to do? Hike!! Night hikes at Percy Warner Park are generally scheduled on Thursday nights at 6pm. Sign up for the
General Email list and watch your email for an announcement. And, if you don't get one, step up and
SEND ONE! Anyone and everyone is welcome to send an email to the general list and get some folks together for whatever YOU want to do!
The usual hike is the Warner Woods trail, a 2.5 mile loop from the
park entrance,
plus the climb up the stairs. Since it's dark out by 6, bring a light, headlamp, night vision goggles, or whatever helps you find your way in the night. Although we don't necessarily work up a big appetite, the hikers look forward to food and drinks afterwards at Sportsman's Grille or
Calypso Cafe, both on Harding Pike in Belle Meade -- non hikers can meet the group at the restaurant around 7p.
Here's a
Google Map for the park entrance where we meet at the end of Belle Meade Blvd., and here's the
Percy Warner Park trail map.
