Sorry for the lack of updates...as some of you may (or may not know), we're expecting a new addition to the Fear 2 Stop family. That's right...sometime in late July, Jaymie Danielle Castillo will be making her way into this world. However, that's not the only big release coming this year...(okay, that sounded tacky).
In October, our debut cd "How High Are You" will be released. Before you ask, that is a reference to the great Daniel Johnston's album "Hi How Are You".The particulars are still being worked out, but if you're interested in the least, drop me a line at fear2stop@yahoo.com
We've been working on this for a while...honest to God, I have an entire suitcase full of cassettes we've recorded since we formed 6 years ago. Why are we finally releasing it now? The following is from an email I sent to a good friend of mine. This will explain it. I was a bit pissed off after hearing this really terrible song on the radio, but I will
not sink so low as to call this person out on this blog...that's not my style.

"As much as I want to take the artistic high road and stay indie, I'm
getting real tired of the daily grind, working 60-70 hours a week (and
often more) but not having time to actually, you know, enjoy the money.
Have you seen the movie Goodfellas? You know the part where Ray Liotta's
character (Henry Hill) is talking about how he personally couldn't live
like an ordinary schnook, working a nine to five job? That's how I feel
(well, minus the whole mafia part!)Not to sound arrogant or anything,
but I'm real sick and tired of hearing this lousy manufactured pop crap
that passes for music, where every damn thing sounds exactly the same.
Where's the innovation?! It seems like nobody is trying to do anything
new, even those who actually sound good. I wanna fill that niche, or at
least inspire somebody else to do so. But yeah, I've been talking that
game for years now...it's time to put up or shut up. I've used what
little free time I do have to record, and after Jaymie's born I need to
whittle down everything recorded over the past 6 years into a single
cd. I've been hyping our stuff around town, getting interest...getting
emails from people wanting to buy the damned thing....yet I keep
getting cold feet. I can't keep doing that, though. I've been resisting
playing live shows, but I realize I'm gonna have to do that, too."

So, yeah, that's the kind of mood I'm in right now. Just goes to show you that there's more talented artists in my friends group
than half of the sh*t on the charts, although some of the folks in my friends list have charted pretty well themselves. I do have good taste...

Be good,
Billy
