because you were right.
Like ideas of prophets
staring down dark stairways
tapping cat language
on one side of walls

This one is for the mushroom god
thick with holy sweat
in the nightmare back yard
with the two parked and house

full of the wrong fireflies

This is for you lonely
with eyes
not wanting to believe
all the fear all the ugliness

you who drag thoughts
like knuckles and
dream of trees you can't remember
leaving.

this is for you, not to bring you
hope. Because I can see none,
this is a beacon that reads,

"This is as far as I could go.
This was all I could see."

= Christmas in July all ovah m'body.

I've got several shows coming up with newly returned Patrick Elkins, not-so-newly returned Actual Birds, intermittently returning Drafted by Minotaurs and Pink Octopus, which, to be fair, never left.

If you are wet/hard for all these MCTrashpedal-related projects and are trying to figure out how to still give time to your cats and loved ones, man are you ever in luck. Ypsilanti's own Shadow Art Fair will be featuring all these artists and many more.

Corner Brewery, July 19th, 2-10 for music, all day for art.

Here's who's on board so far (more to come):

Actual Birds
Almus Magnus
Anna Vitale
Charlie Slick
Drafted by Minotaurs
Forest Juziuk
James Cornish/Curtis Glatter
Juniper Baby
Laserbeams of Boredom
Laurel Chartow
Pink Octopus feat. Sujit
Racecardriver
Ronen Goldstein
Wayang Kucing by Patrick Elkins
Who Is this We, Darby Prane?

It's free. Or no more than 2 cents, promise.

I'm putting together a band of musicians for July 19th's Shadow Art Fair to take place all day at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, MI. I've asked my friend Jason Voss to help since he's got various fingers on various pulses around town. We've got a good idea of what's wanted/appropriate (outdoor quietish stuff), but if you want to make a case for your project. Hit me up with some mail.

Thanky,

-Ian

My Friend Travis did this, and I thought it was compelling. I do not own a computer. The one I use has several generations of music on it, most belonging to Gary Poppins. Still, I wanted to see what happened when I took:

Man. Had a great set with Actual Birds last night. Again, was impressed by how insufficient it is to merely make notes on an instrument. To play it safe (in a less than perverse way) merely re-creates the lifeless corpse of a moment. Something alive/human has got to be invested or it is the worst kind of morbid. Brings my soul right up against the insides of my eyeballs.

Thanks to everyone who lets me play music with them.

Just played with old-time friend/collab Thom and his housemate (newly met) Jon. Woke up sweating 4 hours later with ears ringing and feeling as if I’ve tripped over something big.
Thom calls it "Meat Ice" ...never have I been part of a harsh/particulate noise project that bullied me and used me up quite like this one.

I had to kick them out before midnight. School night, etc. But man. Woke up spent.

Meat Ice is the cure for these dark change-of-season dreams I’ve been having.
