LUKE 2:1-20

1
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Pride is the main reason.  A lot of people think they can handle their own lives better than God can.   So they would rather keep Him at a distance.

Some people FEAR God. Or what He will or will not do for them.  They think if they give God control over their lives, then they may have to do something they don't want to do ( something that's out of character for them)and then they may be miserable.

Others resist God because they fall into believing satan's lies. Satan tells people that God is judgmental and is waiting to punish them for their mistakes.

NONE of this is true. God wants the best for us. God says, in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of PEACE and not of evil, to give you a future and a HOPE."

When we stop resisting God and give ourselves to Him, we grow closer to Him.(His hightest priority) THEN AND ONLY THEN DO WE BEGIN TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON OUR WORLD.

COME CLOSER TO GOD AND HE WILL COME CLOSER TO YOU.

READ PSALM 139:1-12

U
nder what circumstances do you most seem to notice God’s presence? When does your prayer life become more intense? When do you seek after God with every ounce of energy you can muster?
For most people, times of intense pressure and trials result in a greater awareness of the power of God. It is during these times—not during life’s greatest successes—that one’s utter dependence on God is at its zenith.
How odd that the hardships in life produce greater faithfulness. Would you not expect the opposite result? After all, it seems perfectly natural to praise God in times of joy; however, when your shattered life lies in ruins at your feet, what is there to be thankful for then?
During these trials, you quickly realize your own inability to positively impact your situation. The feeling of complete helplessness is a shocking eye-opener; in the face of desperation, the only alternative is to turn the matter over to God, who is more than able to meet the need.
It has been noted that those who cry, “A loving God would not allow that to happen,” are the people who have never experienced extreme trials themselves. Those who are familiar with pain through loss, famine, disaster, etc., are the ones who elevate the value of the lessons learned through hardships.
If you are facing insurmountable trials and you feel broken in spirit, bring your pieces to the foot of the cross. There you will find the One who can reshape your life into something beautiful.

PSALM 101:2

I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.♥

It's one thing to behave in a godly way in public, when you know many eyes are watching.  It's another to reflect His goodness and righteousness at home, where only family members see.  God calls us to both.

The essential vice, the utmost evil is pride. Unchastity, greed, drunkenness are mere fleabites in comparison. Pride leads to every other vice. It is the complete anti-God state of mind. C.S. Lewis

PROVERBS 16:17-19
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
       18 Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

IN OTHER WORDS..
Good people stay away from evil.
By watching what they do, they protect their lives.
Pride leads to destruction;
       a proud attitude brings ruin.
It is better to be humble and be with those who suffer
than to share stolen property with the proud.
