Wassup MySpace Fam!!

As some of you know, I am a HUGE roller coaster fanatic. I sleep roller coasters, I breathe roller coasters, I eat roller coasters, and I dream roller coasters...lol. When it comes to this medium, I am just a big kid seeking the next big thrill. If you are seeking white-knuckling, screamer thrills, then this blog may be for you! We are approaching Memorial Day weekend, so I decided it was time to inform you of the new thrills some of our favorite theme parks are offering this year.

Fahrenheit - Hershey Park, Hershey PA

http://www.hersheypark.com/index.php

Hershey Park has chosen a spectacular thrill machine as their 11th coaster.  Fahrenheit  is  121 ft-tall steel roller coaster consisting of a 90 degree lift hill and 97 degree first drop, which is the steepest in the US. THAT is just the beginning,  for along its 2,700 ft  course, passengers will experience elements that have never been experienced before! The ride consists  of a 107  ft tall inverted loop, inverted  corkscrew roll,  Cobra element,  airborne inverted S roll,  inverted corkscrew rolls, airtime hills, and high-speed/banked curves.  THIS ride will be my personal destination this year.

The Dominator - Kings Dominion, Roswell VA

http://www.kingsdominion.com/

Kings Dominion has received what is, in my opinion, the best floorless roller coaster. The Dominator was formerly located at the now-defunct Geauga Lake amusement park in Ohio. It was also formerly known as Batman Knight Flight when Six Flags had temporary ownership of the park.  The coaster will be a highly anticipated addition to Kings Dominion theme park. Built by B&M, the three-train attraction consists of 4210 feet of track, reaching a max height of 161 ft with speeds up to 65 mph. During the three-minute journey, riders will encounter a 135 ft vertical loop,  two cobra rolls,  two interlocking corkscrew loops and a series of highly-banked turns. The best thing about this new attraction is that it is located in the front, International Street, section of the park, in the vicinity of the Berserker looping ship ride! I am excited to see how this dynamic coaster fits into its new surroundings. Like I said earlier, I consider it the best floorless coaster built to date, after riding it last summer at Geauga Lake.

Dark Knight - Six Flags Great Adventure,  Jackson NJ

http://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/index.aspx

Six Flags continues to deliver thrilling, yet carbon-copied, attractions this year. Debuting at three Six Flags parks (Six Flags Great America and Six Flags New England (Now postponed)), Dark Knight is another multi-media gem that will be tied in with the hype and promotions of the new Batman: Dark Knight movie opening this summer.  There is limited information about all of the specific details, but from what I have read and seen, it's an enclosed, wild-mouse type of coaster that will consist of interactive elements. It will definitely be a ride the whole family can enjoy, thrills we can always expect from Six Flags.  Construction is complete at Six Flags Great Adventure and Great America as anticipation builds toward its debut. Due to zoning challenges encountered  during construction, Six Flags New England may not debut its attraction until next year.

Sponge Bob Squarepants  Rock Bottom Plunge - Nickolodeon Universe

http://www.nickelodeonuniverse.com/

Wow!!  Now, Mall of America is a destination in itself, but they have really stepped up their game. They have completely reinvented, what was once known as Camp Snoopy to present  Nickolodeon Universe, complete with hip, trendy rides that kids of all ages can enjoy. The main event in this arena is Sponge Bob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge. This roller coaster vertically ascends riders up to 67 feet before plunging them, vertically, into a vertical loop, a diagonal loop, heartline twist and sharply banked curves. This attraction will definitely produce screams that will be heard across the mall.  The Bottom Plunge is just one of many white-knuckling  thrills to be  experienced, all indoors, at this remarkable mall.

Behemoth  - Canada's Wonderland, Vaughan ON

http://www.canadaswonderland.com/

Finally!! Canada's Wonderland entered the hyper-coaster race with its latest addition, Behemoth. This 230-ft tall scream machine was built by B&M and will pack a powerful punch with eight steep, airtime-producing drops and several highspeed twists and turns. The first drop is estimated to be 75 degrees, which will definitely get the adrenaline flowing as a speed of 77 mph is reached. The ride will also feature prototype open-air seating that will allow the riders to experience an unobstructed view of all thrills encountered.  Behemoth is being billed as Canada's biggest, fastest, and tallest roller coaster.

Hey MySpace Fam,

I decided to share a previous blog that I recently posted on a different site. Take a read and enjoy!

OMG...last week was one of those typical weeks when anything that could have possibly gone wrong, went terribly wrong, plus some additional drama for spice. So fittingly, after such a hellified week I was game for a release. I wanted to get out, hear some great music, dance, and mingle with some interesting folk. I decided to venture out to one of my favorite Friday-night after-hour spots called Sugar,  located in Baltimore. Yes, I was truly  in need of a fix, so I hopped in my Jeep and drove 40-plus miles for a club escapade. Besides, Sugar was relocating to a new venue and Friday was its final party at its known location. The evening was meant to be a good time had by all...

Well, I got to the venue, Ultra Nate' was spinning an outstanding Deep House set that immediately had me in the center of the dance floor, kicking and spinning. I was truly feeling the vibe and enjoying the crowd that was building in the place. After a while I decided to take a break (because I didn't want to be all sweaty up in a club) and ventured to the front of the venue to visit with the promoters. As I stood at the front door, talking and greeting patrons as they entered, this older woman walked, I mean stumbled, up to us asking about the cover charge. After she was told the price, she stepped OVER the velvet rope and proceeded in through the door. As she passed us she started asking, "Obama? Are you voting for Obama?" I and one of the promoters looked at each other and said at the same time, "Oh she is drunk!" We entertained her questions and let her go on about her way.

After a while I decided that it was time for me to get my dance on for real. I returned to the dance floor to find DJ Thommy Davidson at the helm, working the crowd into a frenzy. Of course,  I was immediately caught up and began to shimmy and shake. When a remix of Estelle's, "American Boy" began to mix in, I truly lost myself...lol. I found my usual spot and proceeded to let dance floor have it!! Well, little to my concern that drunk lady began dancing her way toward where I was (Sidebar here: Do  you  recall the old lady from the movie, 54? Well, she reminded me of the disco granny by her appearance and the way she was carrying on).  Before I knew anything she was dancing directly in front of me, waving her arms overhead as if she was trying to hypnotize me or something. I acknowledged her and continued to do my thing, but then she started to move in all close, invading my space. I was like, "Ewwww?!!!"  so I proceeded to dance away from her, you know, to play it off.

I danced to the other side of the dance floor where I saw my promoter friend. Apparently he had seen what had happened and was laughing at me. I asked him, "Did you just see that?!!" He replied yes and then told me that she was coming my way. OH LAWD!! Before I knew  it, she was on me again!!!! So I proceeded to dance away and began weaving in and out of the  dancers on the dance floor. This lady was in hot pursuit! I swear, there should have been a camera filming this because I am sure it would have been classic.  After a few laps around the dance floor, disco granny finally gave up. My friends that witnessed  the whole thing were dying in laughter and of course, had jokes.  I took it for what it was and laughed it off also. I was having too much of a good time to stress over the dance floor stalker.

The rest of the night was filled with more great music and good times. Disco granny continued to get her twirl on, managing to find a few dance partners in the process. I chilled a bit, free-styled a bit, and continued to be my usual, jovial self. By the time I was able to lay my head on my pillow (around 5 am), I exhaled and considered myself cured from the week from hell.

Black Sheep - Strobelight Honey

If you have experienced being stalked in a club, please share your story!!!

Hey wassup MySpace Fam!

Isn't it amazing how you can get caught up in your own daily grind and totally neglect parts of you that used to matter? This is the case with me and a couple of outlets that used to be a part of my daily routine. I was blessed with an opportunity to take one of my personal loves, dance and choreography, to another level by teaching at a major dance school. Little did I know, that new endeavor would completely consume all of the little "extra" time I had and then some. A classic case of "watch what you ask for'" I suppose. I am not complaining, for I love what I do. I just felt the need to just step back and say, "Well, dayum?!!" and be on my merry way.

So, I guess that leads me to a point of reflection of where I am and where I want to be. Just like many of you, I have goals and ambition. I find myself at a crossroad, many times, trying to figure out what, when, and where. There was a time in my life when everything had to be planned out. I had this "sure plan" for myself and a road map to the direction I felt I needed to go to achieve it. Of course at first, as goals were achieved, that plan seemed to work. But as I began to encounter little roadblocks and challenges, I began to stress out. It became a scenario of "If I don't do this, I can't do that...if I can't do that, I won't be able to do this." I swear, I began to truly stress myself out, missing out on the simple pleasures of life. I began to miss out on life altogether. It took a little wisdom from my mom to slap me back into my true reality. She told me that I needed to take some time to appreciate my achievements, to actually live life. She pointed out that life was a journey that had to be enjoyed, regardless of any circumstance I faced because I only had one chance to do so.

At that point I stopped myself mid-motion and began to look around at my own surroundings. I began to take real notice of the people around and began to co-exist with them. I saw associates as friends, friends as family. I began to live. Writing this blog today has served as therapy for me because I had not realized that I had fallen back into that same cycle. The reality of bills and obligations can turn anyone into an automated vegetable, programed to just run a certain course, day-in and day-out. I don't like that feeling. When I was born, I created bills and when I die...I will still have bills...lol. It's strange for me to say this, but it's true. So why stress over them? All I, we, can do is continue to strive for the best while maintaining our responsibilities. But the only catch in this phrase is that we must also establish a quality of life for ourselves that is enriching and pleasing to our own psyche.

MySpace Fam, continue to do what you do. Provide that light for others to see in the midst of a storm or darkness. Make your thang work for you, just be true to what you believe in. Don't worry about who may agree or disagree with you. Just get back to life.
