Although our demo CD was done just as a promo for the people that were asking us to throw up some tunes on our myspace page...and also as something just to hand out at a show for those that were asking.....we did recieve this review of it from RRCA. The review of the Demo CD is given below. You can find it at this url.....
http://rrca.diskery.com Click on MUSIC KNOWLEDGE BASE PROJECT and type Krakatoa.
KRAKATOA (ERF00435) Infidels Indie (2007) Canada CD Thrash Metal
In short, this is not half bad as far as debut recordings go. This is a special edition given to only those of us who went to the Krakatoa show on June 9th, 2007 as issued by the band themselves as a promo tool. The disc features only two tracks, essentially their debut tracks.
Of the two tracks, Infidels (1) is the best. The other (The Beast) is worthy too but as an included track on an album, I wouldn't use it as the first track or the title track. Infidels come across as an intellectual track with modern and thought provoking lyrics and good beat. Max Black's voice is really allowed to shine on this track, more than it ever did in Penetrator. The song really shows the versatility of his vocals. Problem though: As strong as the voice is, it's so strong that it almost over powers the rest of the instrumental. In my opinion, the track should be mixed so that either the volume on the instruments is increased, or the volume on the vocals is decreased because the instruments are almost in the background and flat lined (few peaks and valleys) in the sound. Otherwise, there is a lot of potential here. The track discusses the recent Middle East terrorist issues and the differences it proposes to us in Western cultures.
The Beast (2) is a much more simple Thrash Metal affair. Well played but mostly unremarkable in a basic sonic sense other than to say it's a rocking track nonetheless. Although I'd agree on its presence in an album, I wouldn't use it as the first track or the title track. Please don't confuse this statement to mean I did not enjoy the track or acknowledge that there is a more traditional fan base that would like the style: just accept that in all the years of experience in the business I have, I don't think it will be the track that gives the band their fame as Infidels seems to have the upper hand in innovation and the ability to give the band notoriety, especially in it's lyrical content and vocal range. I have been known to be wrong though...
A great show for a debut album.
Krakatoa is a band that plays really tight right from note one. When I have seen them in rehearsal it is hard to tell what songs are new and what have been rehearsed many times as they simply gel well as a group, better than most I have ever seen in my career; it will certainly be hard to put that unity onto a recording.
Featured Tracks: Infidels, The Beast.
Grade : (8/10)

Thanks to everyone that have been requesting we upload a few songs. We just finsihed mastering 2 of our "off the floor" songs from our demo. Come check it out!!!!
This is an invitation for you to listen to the 2 songs just uploaded off the Krakatoa 3 song demo. KRAKATOA are a technical progressive classic thrash/death metal band with some fast off time signatures. The demo was recorded in 2 days, off the floor with no clicks and no triggers or vocal pitch adjusters. Guitarist T.C. plays an amazing solo that he just pulled "out of his hat" on the track Infidels. Once you listen to it...you'll hear the difference....it almost sounds like an enhanced live performance. It possesses the same energy that this band has live. A quote from vocalist Maxel Black during the mix was "We want it to sound as real as we can....raw...like when we're on stage....as close to that without going overboard or sounding too demoish". Guitarist T.C., drummer Inferno and bassist Darryl all agreed." We want people to know this is exactly how we sound when we play live. We need to reproduce everything we do on this demo when we hit the stage." We appreciate the moment you've taken from your busy day to stop by and check this out. Thank-you for your support and friendship. Special thanks to Tim Bones for recording/mixing and Tony for mastering this demo. We also would like to welcome our newest member and second guitarist Devin into the "family".
Thanks to everyone for all your support.

Krakatoa has just finished tracking music for a three song demo. Recording and engineering was done by Tim Bones who is doing a killer job on this project. The tracklist is "Infidels", "Beast", and "Be Silenced". The demo is now in the mixing/mastering stages and will be uploaded as soon as it's complete.
