Ok, first off, I admit, I'm not a big Hip-Hop fan, but that doesn't matter. I know what a good dance beat is. I know what a hook is. AND I KNOW HOW TO STOP USING AUTO-TUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Kanye West's "808s and Heartbreak" is not really the worst album. The truth is, it COULD have been a great album, but what the hell was he thinking?
First of all, the beat for most songs is simply his voice. As in there is no beat. It's just him singing to a monotone bass thump. And the melody I'm hearing is already grating enough, but when it's full of auto-tune, there's no escaping it. I can't stand it.
I've been forced to listen to this cd multiple times. I can't say why, but know that this is not a first impression. That was even worse.
The truth is, most of the songs are just boring. They're completely dull and I have no motivation to continue listening.
Finally I heard a song I actually liked, Robocop. Now there's a beat and a few good hooks. But what the fuck is that ending? "Haha, that was a good one, your first good one in a while?" If you haven't heard that line "sung" then just get it over with. You NEED to hear it.
I think that the egomania is probably what really seals the deal for me. I've admitted, it's not REALLY the worst album, but damn, I just don't understand how he thinks that's going to change the world, that it makes him the voice of the generation.
I'm not much of a music critic, and my own songs certainly aren't the end all be all by any means, but damn, this gets on my nerves. I just want it to end already!

So the first track of our debut album, "Fashion of the Christ," is a song we wrote a long time ago, at least it feels that way. Although it was pretty much a joke at the time, it is ALWAYS misinterpreted to make us look like something we're not.
Whether we're misquoted or misheard, it usually boils down to thinking that the song comes from a perspective of US thinking that WE are the shining beacon of originality in a sea of regurgitated blandness, but that's not it at all.
It's simply a nod to the fact that image can get you far in this business. We're not oblivious to this, and don't get me wrong, we'd like to look halfway decent, it's just that we focus MORE on writing a good song, than we focus on giving it a pretty package. Unfortunatley, that's not always the case with everyone as we've seen over the years.
Styles come and go, and again, I'm NOT saying we go around looking like bums, but style is not the focal point of our band. So the song is simply poking fun at those who ARE all about it. You people know who you are.
So when you listen to the chorus, "Hey, look at me! I'm the next big thing with the perfect combination of looks and personality. Hey, look at me! I'm the next big thing, the perfect replication of UNoriginality." understand that it's tongue and cheek.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that I've got that off my chest, to anyone who missed our last performance at AKA Lounge...for shame... We met the next Hannah Montana. I mean that as a compliment...I think. But something feels wrong when you're in a bar, having a beer with your friends and a 13 year old is onstage singing about how a "busta wants to be her lova (a.k.a. "lover")." Especially when she's wearing tight silver shorts and throwing beads like it's Mardi Gras. But hey, she was a hit! So good for her! Maybe we should nix the whole "Fashion of the Christ" mindset and start wearing those onstage. Silver and pale look great on me!

So today is our last day working on the album. Anthony is almost on his way and we'll be heading home after tomorrow night's show. It's been out of control here. I don't think I even know the upcoming schedule myself. It's basically a blur.
As far as the release, it's gonna be a bit, (as it has yet to be mixed/mastered) but we might get some previews up here in the near future.
So there's already been a few stalkers. For Ant, not us. But nevertheless, it's pretty damn funny to see it. Remind me again how people even know there's a studio here? We're on the side of a debt settlement company's building! Some chick, decked out in some bitchin' fishnets and serious piercings, walked up here in the middle of the night, peeking through the windows. Usually we might welcome that, but after long hours in here, and watching the same horror movies again and again, it gets a little unnerving. Luckily she left without a trail of damage and only a broken heart when she was told this was an animation studio. (Hey! We're trying to save our friend here!)
This tour we've planned on is actually being reworked a bit so expect updates on that soon. But back to the album, holy shit. It's ridiculous. We've got a Bosstone on here. Johnny Vegas himself of the legendary Mighty Mighty Bosstones lends his voice to one of our tracks. As does Anthony and even some of ours buds in Victims of Circumstance. It's hard to describe the nights hanging around and shooting the shit with someone we look up to (Ant) and someone we both look up to (Johnny), who has been there as far as everything. After living the highlife (read: getting clean sheets for our air mattresses) for a while, a few of us have sprung leaks, so only one more day of sleeping on the floor.
Hey, it beats the van. We'll save that for the tour. -Adrian

Current mood: adventurous
Today has been one of those days that you don't forget about. But pretty much EVERY day for the last 4 weeks has been unforgettable.
After laying down a few tracks and hanging with our new publicist, we took a trip down to Tampa to meet with the owners of a huge guitar factory. We just barely missed David Cook leaving with a new customized guitar. (Yeah, we know the American Idol..what?!?)
So who the fuck are we to be talking with these dudes about an endorsement? Well regardless, it was happening. Anthony was in on it too, checking out a few acoustics. We ran into Maylene and The Sons of Disaster while they were checking out a few guitars themselves. And don't worry, even our own Andy had a good time. There were a FEW drums. Next to the lamborghini and corvette that were parked inside the building. Again, what the hell?
Anyway, it was a nice start to the day after last night, when just after we finished tracking, a fucking pterodactyl landed on the roof of the studio and busted through. Yes, we have footage for the next studio journal!
Tonight we saved up enough money for pizza! It's a delicacy to us, who are currently living off of Ramen Noodle and favors from our friends. So I'll be back to keep you all updated with what's happening. Cause this is nothing compared to some of the ridiculous shit we've seen.
But good or bad, everything is fucking badass here!

Reviews for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
10 out of 10 Artist: Crisis in Hollywood Title: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea Label: Financial Records Once I put Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea in my car CD player I didn't want to take it out. I'm sure I looked like a freak to other drivers on the roads as I belted out the lyrics and bounced around as I waited for the red light change. But hey, I couldn't help myself; this CD had the "it" factor for me. I loved the music, the harmonies, and the simple but impactful lyrics. Lead singer Adrian Snyder's vocals reminded me of Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday. Most of the songs deal with love and relationships without being too sappy or cheesy. The first song, The Fashion of the Christ, sets the tone and vibe of the CD with its heavy punk sound and high energy. Like most of the other songs on the album, Sin on my Lips had a catchy chorus I could not get out of my head. My favorite song was If Your Heart's Out because it was catchy and I could see a lot of people relating to the lyrics. Stay was a sweet and tranquil song, that showcased the band's beautiful harmonies. The last song, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, had a funky beat to it that I really liked, and then in the middle they picked up the beat and energy so that it matched the first song's tempo and mood.
Crisis in Hollywood formed in 2006 when friends Adrian Snyder, Logan Benton, Daniel Valery, and Andy Wamback left their former local bands. They built a following in Florida and late in 2006 they started touring the country. In 2007 the band signed to Financial Records and released Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. I can't wait to return this CD to my car's player!
Thanks to this guy/girl for the kind words below! We love you too!!
Not only does the album suck tremendously, so does the guys in the band. They are rude fake and full of shit. This so called review was done by Andy Wambach the bands very own drummer! How sad is it that this band has to go to these kind of measures just to "feel good" about the piece of shit album they created. This band will go nowhere much like the rest of the wannabes in the Orlando Music scene. Adrian is a pussy, Logan is a fucking twat poser, and Andy haha what a fucking scrawny dickless loser. The other guitarist isn't even worth a mention.
A Crisis In Hollywood sucks. What a pathetic attempt at an album. One more thing, see them live and laugh at how tone deaf Adrian is. The pussy needs a studio to stay ... Pathetic.
From the Editor ooh... I think someone has a crush on the band!! Generally it's true love and only true love that can incite such passion. Oh, and I happen to know who my writers are... and this one definitly is NOT the drummer for Crisis in Hollywood. Nice try Johnny Boy!
Crisis in Hollywood – Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea / 2008 Financial / 13 Tracks / http://www.crisisinhollywood.com /
Crisis in Hollywood consists of a number of members from acts that have all gained some sort of notoriety in their respective region's music scenes. This means that there are members that spent time in From Adam to Atom, Timebomb, Ask Me Later, and The Staredown. While each of those acts were good in their own right (even though I was not too familiar with From Adam to Atom), Crisis in Hollywood represents a serious step forward for each member. The quality of the band's output was so high, in fact, that they gained the attention of former Victims of Circumstance and Mighty Mighty Bosstones members, who gave the green light for Crisis In Hollywood to go forward.
Despite the fact that the band has only been around for a little bit over 2 years, the compositions on "Between the Devil" are incredibly mature. In fact, the opening track, "The Fashion of the Christ", is incredibly energetic while still having a very intricate set of arrangements. What results is a merging of emo and punk rock that, while somewhat similar to Yellowcard, surpasses that band's output from the get go. "Like A Wave" continues much of the same sound as "The Fashion of the Christ", but tweaks the vocals to reflect more of an Alkaline Trio influence. The straight-forward, driving drum beats keeps the rest of the band on task, while the vocals have a force behind them that keeps pace with the sizzling guitar lines that ride alongside them.
Any of the disc's 13 cuts could conceivably be rocketing up the CMJ charts; all it takes are the right individuals to hear this album and the band would be ready to be picked up by a major, or (if they decide not to go that route) being played on rock stations all across the United States. The title track, which ends the disc, is without any argument the best track on the album. The band icksthings up quite a few notches, inserting metal and hardcore influences to their overall sound. Where acts like Coheed and Cambria were able to inject a minor amount of storytelling into their albums, Crisis In Hollywood are able to create an epic that links together Queens of the Stone Age, the aforementioned Alkaline Trio and Coheed, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even acts like From First To Last to make what is the current face of rock music. The act will be big; I guarantee it.
Top Tracks: Sin on My Lips, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
Rating: 8.4/10
Crisis in Hollywood - Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea - CD (Financial Records) I kept thinking to myself this is what it would sound like if The Used and Panic at the Disco joined forces. The music and lyrics are catchy and the songs have a drive. This is a band that I expect to be one of the headliners on the annual Warped Tour. Right from the start I knew this is a band I would like. "The Fashion of the Christ" reminded me so much of the afore-mentioned bands that I had to read the liner notes to see if any of the members were in fact in this band. This is a CD that I need to share with my friends and you need to check out before the band gets too big. -- Mite Mutant (2008)

Current mood: electric
Hey guys, we just finished more demos while we're preparing for the new CD. As you probably know, Anthony Raneri of Bayside is going to be producing it and we couldn't be happier. Bayside has been a long time inspiration.
Even though half of us are college drop outs, we think we can manage a video camera while we're in the studio, so expect our myspace page to be converted into a Video Diary. We'll try to keep it entertaining.
We're finishing up writing the last batch of songs, and we cannot wait to hear what everyone thinks about the new album. Hopefully some of you are half as excited as we are about this!
P.S. Check out the new shows we've got posted. See you soon!

Current mood: anxious
Alrighty, here's a little update. It's been a little while. so anyone paying attention probably knows that last night, January 5th, was the official release date for our new full length album "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" and what a show it turned out to be! We cant say thank you enough to everyone who came out and picked up the album or shirt. The crowd was fantastic all night, everyone seemed really stoked on the new record and we as a band couldnt be happier with the turnout. We've been so excited to get this album out and many thanks go out to Financial Records for making this happen in such a timely fashion. We had a blast last night, and next up is Orlando on Jan. 12th @ backbooth w/hand to hand, and we're expecting this one to rival last night's mayhem! again thank you all for your continuing support, and we cant wait to fill you in on all of the things coming up in 2008. This is sure to be an amazing year!
