I've been wanting to make this announcement for some time now... On Oct. 27, the new EP - MAKE YOURSELF NAKED will be available everywhere.

I'm proud of our last record CITIZEN. In particular, I love the songs, and I'm proud of how I expressed what I was going through at that time in my life. In a time when my world was getting turned upside down, I still had a distinct feeling of hope and rebirth. I had the feeling that despite some painful experiences, that I could start new - stronger than ever before. Songs like Rise, and all of the them really, were true to how I was feeling... The production on the record CITIZEN was what I like to call "mega". It was huge, and very produced. And one element that I feel may have been missing on that record was an element of intimacy that I think is very much a part of who I am as an artist. And so, I'm excited for people to hear this snapshot which I'm calling "Make Yourself Naked". It's stripped down, it's intimate, and thematically - it's vulnerable. It's a scenic overlook on the Army Of Me highway, where you can pull off, get out of the car and stretch your legs, and get a glimpse of something different, and hopefully beautiful. And this stop doesn't have any vending machines...

I will have more details for you soon, but for now, save the date - Oct. 27..

Love,

"The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind."

That was my refrain, this past weekend. I was up in Phoenicia, NY, a stone's throw from Woodstock, where I took part in an event called Kidstock. It was hosted by and featured Uncle Rock & the Playthings, as well as Paul Green's School of Rock. My part of the event was essentially a hike for kids (and their parents) through the woods, where they encountered rock n roll icons from the Woodstock era. And I was enlisted as Bob Dylan... So much fun talking and playing for the kids, and I sported my Ray-Bans all weekend long. The afternoon even ended with a true-to-Woodstock rainstorm, and ironically, Michael Lang, original producer of Woodstock was out in the woods with me at the time, we were huddling under some trees.. The event raised money for Friends Of Snuffy, a non-profit that buys food for pets of owners who are struggling to make ends meet in this economy, thus preventing them from having to put their pets in animal shelters..

By the way, playing harmonica ain't hard, but playing it and guitar at the same time is a little tricky at first...

Ok, i'm finally doing it. Twitter. It's strange, the little @ symbols and # and RT. It's like a little language all to itself. I was checking out John Mayer's twitter page (@johncmayer). He's pretty funny.. anyway, I refreshed the page after looking for a few minutes and noticed that he had like 50 more followers. so I did a little test and realized he gets a new follower every 2 or 3 seconds. Popular guy.. ok, so here we go.

If you're on Twitter, check me out @Vintz or http://www.twitter.com/vintz

This is Dennis, our beloved drummer, singing "Jackson's, Monk, and Rowe" by Elvis Costello. This past weekend, he performed songs from Costello's record "The Juliet Letters" with a string quartet at IOTA in Arlington, VA. And he killed it! What a talented lad.

The story behind this is pretty cool. Dennis was helping a friend's band - The Sketches, record a new record. Knowing that Dennis loves that Elvis Costello record, they decided to thank him by hiring a string quartet to learn the Elvis Costello's record and perform it with him at IOTA on July 11. It was a surprise. One day, a few weeks ago, a concert poster came in the mail to Dennis' place with a picture of his face on the front, announcing the show! Super nice move by The Sketches...

A little update... got an email from Stephen Colbert's assistant, who said my package arrived safely to the office and that Stephen appreciated the goodies. She said that he had heard of our band before. So cool!!

When I was a little kid, I had a Michael Jackson poster on my wall. I think it was from the "Thriller" record. I remember that poster vividly, because everywhere i went in my room, it looked as though MJ was looking right at me. I thought his eyes were following me, ha! Funny that he later sang a chorus that said, "I always feel like somebody's watching me". And I thought that little piece of hair coming down in the middle of his forehead looked really cool.  I loved the songs and his voice. "Beat It" was my favorite. Oh geez. Memories are coming back. There's more... The real deal glitter gloves were too expensive for us, so my grandmother sewed a bunch of fake pearls to a white knit glove so that I could have my own glitter glove. Thinking back, that was pretty sweet of her to do that. I don't think it looked anything like a real glitter glove, but I didn't notice. I wanted the red zipper jacket too, but again, too expensive, and probably not in my size either. Grandma never attempted that one. I tried to do the moonwalk, tried to dance. I'm not exactly sure where it came from, but I was REALLY into MJ.

And now, we're saying goodbye to him. In recent years, I haven't followed his career as much as I used to. But as many, many people have said, his influence on music and entertainment is monumental. I guess I'm writing because he's had an effect on my life personally. Maybe it was the beginning of me wanting to do what I'm now doing - playing my music and singing for a career. So, in my little way, thanks MJ for everything, every note of it! Rest in Peace.

Stephen Colbert from "The Colbert Report", one of the funniest men alive, decided to use our name last week. He did a piece called "Stephen Strong: Army Of Me", where he went to basic training for 10 hours and filmed it. You can check it out:

Yesterday, I sent him a package with a tshirt and a hoodie, and a CD. So, if you see him on the show rocking some AOM gear, you will know where it came from. I wrote him a note to explain that neither of us is the originator of Army Of Me. That honor will always belong to Bjork. (But at least we were next in line.)

Thanks for the publicity man!

There's a great music, film, and culture magazine out called Paste Magazine. I'm sure most of you are familiar. From what I understand, the people who run that magazine have a vision for the magazine to bring readers "signs of life in music, film, and culture". I find that to a refreshing approach to media. It's not about what's the newest fad, or what's gonna make the magazine the most amount of money, but it's about taking a look at culture and trying to bring readers viable art that matters. With all that being said, Paste needs help right now.

For the last 6 months, due to the recession, advertisers in the magazine have been slashing their budgets, which is forcing Paste to possibly go out of business. So they have launched an effort to save the magazine, by asking readers to donate. In return, a LOAD of really cool artists have contributed rare and unreleased songs that people can download for free when they donate. Army Of Me has donated a song called "Lost At Sea" from our forthcoming EP, due out in the next month or so.

So, please consider donating to Paste to help save the magazine, and get yourself an early copy of "Lost At Sea", along with 75+ songs from other great artists.

Please visit SAVE PASTE for details.
