Thoughts ..ion: I am against it. It's a tough one. I understand the arguments in extreme cases, but... Well, this is a topic I don't need to get too far into in a myspace blog.

If you could be anywhere right now where would you be: Arkansas

Least favorite person: Whoever made the final decision to have "The Hills" put on the air. That show makes me so angry.

Believe in love at first sight: I believe in adoration at first sight. I have seen a smile that consumed me from the moment I saw it directed at me, but then you have to battle through the pheromones to find out if it's truly Love. Height under 5'7"

Weight fit

Most important physical feature: Eyes and smile

Biggest turn-off: Ignorance

For those of you who did not make it out to any of the shows on the release tour, I thought I'd tell you a little about it here.

The Zipper Theatre

On Tuesday, October 14th, we kicked off the tour with one of the most amazing shows I've ever been a part of so far. The Zipper Theatre release was so absolutely amazing. I wasn't sure what the turnout was going to be like considering it was a late Tuesday in New York City. It's hard enough to get a decent crowd on a weekend in New York. After a quick soundcheck, I spent a good amount of time in the dressing room clearing my head and my throat for the show. As it got closer to showtime, I began to hear quite a crowd gathering. At one point I walked over to the stage curtain to look, then changed my mind at the last minute knowing that I'd rather see them all for the first time when we all walk out.

As the lights dimmed and the guys took the stage, I began to really hear how many people had come out to celebrate this moment with me and the guys. It was seriously like a beautiful frozen moment to me as I looked into the crowd and across the stage and saw all the wonderful, beautiful people I have surrounded myself with. Then everything returned to real time when I got a nod from Tim Grace from behind a baby grand piano and we dove into our opening song, "Hollywood".

The set list continued as a perfect soundtrack for a perfect evening, and Joseph Sommers, our newly appointed manager had congratulated me with a bottle of Cabernet waiting for me at my mic stand.

October 14th Setlist:

Hollywood
Rape Of Conscience
Welcome To The Show
Dancing In The Rain
King of the Silver Screen
Déjà vu
Sideshows
30 Pieces
Beautiful
The Girl Who Saved The World
Vampires of Vaudeville
The Entertainer
Karma Girl

Personal highlights for me on this show were:
1. Seeing Andrew Thornton singing every word to the show and enjoying it as much as anyone on stage.
2. Walking to the piano to sing the sweetest, most gentle song of the night and hearing Tim tell me, "I loosened her up for you".
3. Leaving the stage after the set and receiving the most genuine, relentless encore that I've ever received. I generally hate encores because they feel so coaxed and insincere, but this was such a beautiful unexpected moment. Tim and I ended up returning to the stage and playing Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released".

pictures of this night can be viewed on my myspace page thanks to Anthony from Memento Photography.

October 15th - Columbus, OH

After realizing at about 3:00 a.m. that our vehicle for the trip would not be large enough for all of our gear, we ended up renting a vehicle that cost way too much money and stress. Then we travelled to Columbus, OH to play the most disgusting trashy venue I think I've ever played. It was called Bernie's Distillery and we all had to get tetnis shots after playing there. But it was worth it for the few friends we made that night.

October 17th - Fayetteville, AR

This was such a crazy busy day. Got up really early and sat waiting for my publicist to pick me up and take me to a radio interview. He never showed, so I found the phone number for the radio station and called in. Then we all went to Jones TV where we began recording a documentary with live performances in their Television studio. This was great because it felt like a scene from "That Thing You Do". However, I sang so much that I was afraid I had thrown out my voice before the big show that night. So I spent the rest of the day relaxing my voice and preparing for the evening.

That night was another wonderful show. I was, again, shocked at the turnout. A lot of wonderful people came out to support and buy the new CD. We had to cut 2 songs out of the set because of the early closing time in Arkansas of 2 a.m. After that, we partied till the sun came up.

October 18th – Fayetteville, AR

Umm… more partying.

October 19th – Fayetteville, AR

Benjamin and I finished shooting the documentary on this day at a tattoo parlor where we both got new ink while simultaneously being interviewed. After the tattoos, we went to D's on Dickson where Tim and I set up and played a stripped down set. This really turned out to be an amazing night. While we were playing our first song, I noticed Gavin DeGraw as he walked in. He sat listening intently, and after a few songs, ran over to me and handed me some money which I tried to refuse as I handed him a CD instead. He insisted on giving us some gas money to get back home and said that the music was incredible and amazing. So I took the money and thanked him. I later reached in my pocket later to figure out what we had made that night and realized that Gavin DeGraw had tipped us $100. What a guy.

October 20th

After an early interview at The X morning show, Tim and I rounded up the rest of the guys and headed North to St. Louis. By the time we got to St. Louis, I realized that all of this running without sleeping had finally kicked my ass. I was sick. In fact, I thought I was too sick to play the show. I felt terrible and it was getting worse. So I dealt with it the only way I knew how to… I took 8 Alkaseltzers and turned on "The Show Must Go On" by Queen. hahaha. This left me very dizzy, but I was able to play the entire show with the exception of a drastic change in the composition of "Hollywood". I damn near rewrote that entire song on the fly that night. hahah. I'd like to thank Tim, Joshua, Gabe and NIc for persevering with me through those terrifying 2 minutes.

That about wrapped up the trip. We're heading back through most of those cities again in late November and early December. Now we're back in New York getting well and preparing for the next 6 months of touring. Can't wait to see all of you out there.

I Love You All,

Randall

Dear Friends,

I have finally put up a couple of the new songs on my page. If you go to my page now (which I hope you will), you'll hear "King Of The Silver Screen" and "The Entertainer" which are two very different parts of the new concept record entitled "The Entertainer".

Later on, I'll be posting some more information about what these two songs mean to me and where they fit in the whole story, but for now, I would just Love it if you would listen to them without knowing what they mean to me and then let me know what they meant to you on first listen. How did they make you feel?

There are 15 brand new tracks on the new CD so it was hard to choose which 2 to put up right now, but I think these 2 are a good representation of what else you'll hear on the record. So... Please enjoy and if you get the chance, I would Love to hear how you feel after listening.

I Love You All,

Randall

Well, we're on schedule and the record is officially done. Drew (engineer), Tim (piano) and I spent another sleepless night at the studio Friday night mixing the last song on the record to beat the deadline and have this record out on time. The song happened to be "The Entertainer" which we had recorded a full string orchestra on a few nights before. There could not have been a better way to finish this record. It was quite emotional for me to listen to the final mix.

We have confirmed The Zipper Theatre as the CD release show venue for New York. You guys are going to Love this place. It's an amazing off Broadway theatre that is set up like an old Vaudeville theatre. It's amazing and it's the perfect place for "The Entertainer" to be introduced.

So the record goes to mastering tonight and I will be able to post a couple new songs next week. So keep checking back for that. Also be sure to check out the new photography series I did for The Entertainer. They're in my photos section of my profile.

Full band shows start next week at Spike Hill in Williamsburg. All the info is on my page for that show. I will be playing tonight at Valhalla, where I am every Sunday night. I hope a lot of you can make it out again. I'm playing the 28th, 29th and 30th of this month in Orlando, FL. I'm looking forward to those shows. The 29th is a solo show opening for one of my favorite bands, Plain Jane Automobile. It's their CD release party, and it's going to be great.

That's it for now. I hope to talk to you a lot of you soon.

After recording for about 9 months, I have finally reached the point where it's safe to set a release date. I am so happy with "The Entertainer". It is absolutely the album I set out to make and not one note different.

October 14th will be the official release date of "The Entertainer". I'll be celebrating that night in New York City where the whole record was recorded and most of it was written. However, I will be coming to Orlando (most likely a week earlier) and celebrating with all of you who were there at the very beginning when I reluctantly played "Hollywood" for all of you at The Social. And Just in case he can't make it to either of those shows, I'm scheduling a release show few days after the 14th in Fayetteville, AR to celebrate properly with my brother, Benjamin, and all of my good friends in Arkansas. I'll be announcing all of those dates and venues soon.

I can't wait for all of you to hear this record. It's my blood.

I'll surely tell you more about it soon, but I had to at least let you know that I've determined a release date and it's October 14th.

As you all know by now, I've been in the studio working on the new CD. Like "The Cure For Yesterday" it is a continual story throughout the entire CD. I am happy to officially announce the upcoming relase of:

Photobucket

I'm back in the studio working on vocals and adding a couple of songs to the album right now, but so far, the songs that have been worked on are as follows:

Hollywood
Angel (working title...may actually be called "Vampires")
Carnival Songs
Déjà vu
Sideshow
Girl Who Saved The World
King Of The Silver Screen
Last Knight
Rape of Conscience (another working title)
The Entertainer
Nothing Left
ExtraOrdinary
Karma Girl

That's not to say that there won't be more or, for that matter, that all of these will make the final cut.

More info, song clips, and details coming soon.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

If I may have your attention for just a moment, I will direct you towards a record that will undoubtably change your world... I know that this is a big claim, but I stand behind it. No... I'm not talking about my new record (that doesn't change your world for another few months... haha). I'm talking about Brilliant and Charming... the new full-length record from my brother and my biggest influence, Benjamin Del Shreve.

Every once in a few years, you come across an artist that defines the era in which you live and reminds you to be glad for how wonderful it is to be alive at such a time as this. Benjamin is that artist. I am always blown away by the timelessness of his lyrics, and the strength and maturity of his music.
I have been waiting for this CD for a long time and I just wanted to pass the news along that Brilliant and Charming was released today and can be ordered right HERE. You can also preview the entire record before you purchase it right HERE. So go to myspace.com/BenjaminDelShreve and see for yourself and support one of your future favorite artists by buying his CD.

I can't say enough about it, but for now I'll stop because I know most of you have stopped reading this by now, which hopefully means your're getting an earful of musical bliss over at Benjamin's myspace page... haha. Okay... I'm done.

You guys are the greatest... support Benjamin. Now I'm really done.
