Performances will be in Roanoke, VA!

Current mood:  excited
Shawn Anthony's incredible magic has amazed audiences for more than 15 years  with breathtaking performances at worldwide venues from The Mirage and The Aladdin in Las Vegas to Tokyo Arena. From sold out arenas to Cabaret style shows, he has delighted enthusiastic crowds in America, Japan, Paris, Berlin, London, Dublin and Monaco.

................................Hailed the post-modern Houdini, Shawn is a ....Baltimore.... native who later moved to ........California........ with his family where he became familiar with many different theatrical arts that would later guide him to his current form of magic.  It all started with a Blackstone magic set nearly 25 years ago. His fascination of the venerable art grew as he submerged himself in magic literature and later studied under several professional magicians, including Master Magician Jeff McBride at the ....McBride.... ....Mystery.... ....School.... in ........Las Vegas.........

Shawn brings his own distinctive style of entertainment to the ancient art of magic. He seamlessly blends theater, music, dance and comedy into his shows " creating an engaging and interactive performance that continues to inspire audiences around the globe.

This is not a traditional magic show. Shawn Anthony's MYSTIFIED is less about magicians doing trick after trick and more about a cast of characters who have created a truly fantastic theatrical and magical environment. Each cast members contribution is irreplaceable. It's a tightly woven tapestry of drama and theatrics, thrills and laughter; all bound together by a shroud of mystery that ultimately produces an unforgettable evening of wonders and amazement...

Audiences will be treated to the most sense-confounding extravaganza known to man! Because on this very stage, we've gathered up all the mysterious wonders of the world, and put them together in one unforgettable show of magic and illusion.........

About the Escape:

In 1921 Harry Houdini was shackled and placed inside a 7 foot tall federal canvas mail bag that had been waterproofed. At the top the grommets were sealed shut with a thick bar of metal and locked on both sides with large regulation pad locks.  It took Houdini 3 minuets to escape. Air is thin in there and the bag is tight on the body allowing for very little movement. Shawn plans on escaping in fewer than three minuets and adding a surprise at the end that will leave people talking about this escape........................ for years to come. See it LIVE in ........Roanoke...., ....VA........ as Shawn Anthony challenges himself with one of the most physically challenging escapes developed by Houdini. Shawn Anthony will take you on a Journey of magic and wonder during this very special two hour show that includes a full evening of grand illusion.

*A portion of all proceeds will be going to Autism Awareness....

Hello Friends,

We are looking for opinions!

Calling all magicians beginner to pro!

Would you like to be heard on New Magic Source?

Then this is for you!

We are looking for people that have something to say about magic!  Would you like to give advice about how to learn magic?  How to perform a particular trick?  Do you want to review magic products?  Do you have anything you want to say about the art of magic?  Here's your chance!

We are putting together a section of the website called The Voice of Magic (working name).

In this section, magicians will have the opportunity to voice their points of view about anything magic.

How do I submit?  Write three to four paragraphs about your topic and email to this myspace page or to david@newmagicsource.com.  Your article will be posted on our site.

Any questions, please ask.

We are accepting submissions now!  Tell us about your thoughts.

Yes!  We sat down with David Copperfield!  What a wonderful experience.  Of course the first question on the table was...

"David, what advice can you give our readers about misdirection?  Some magicians have a natural understanding of the principle, yet others sometimes struggle with it.  What pearls of wisdom can you share on the subject?"

And David's reply was...

"It's actually quite a simple question.  And the answer is even simpler.  There are many ways the you can achieve adequate misdirection.

Some magicians look where they want the audience to look.  The audience will follow your attention.

Some magicians use body language, yes, body language.  When we lean forward, it's presentational.  A leaned back relaxed posture suggests that nothing is happening...

But my device for misdirection was much simpler and way more effective...

I...

Grew a mullet!

With a mullet, I sometimes even had trouble getting people to even pay attention at all to what my hands were even doing!  And if you have a heckler, give him a little flick of the neck protector and his attention will snap right back into place.

Yes the 90s were an easy time for me.  I owe that part of my career and several TV specials to that glorious mane.  Its a secret I haven't shared with many people...  I shared it with Billy Ray Cyrus, it worked for him...  Barry Manilow... I'm always ready to help."

Thanks for sharing with us David... that was quite unexpected!

*The views expressed in this blog are not representative of David Copperfield... or his mullet (may it continue to rest in peace)...please!  We've never talked to the man... or the mullet!  God I can't stop!

This is the kind of stuff that creeps into my mind while driving.  Scary?

Magic Performance Tip #5

If you can think of any reason not to perform this stunt/trick...  DON'T!

It's not worth it and its not even that impressive.

It does create suspense, but you look like a complete moron if you screw it up!

And NEVER put your volunteer in danger!!  Ever!

Bad magician, bad bad Magician!
