Submissions are now open for the 2010 Dirt Fest event at the Birch Run Expo Center. We encourage bands of all genres to submit as we plan to widen the diversity of music offered at the show.

If you're interested in performing at Dirt Fest 14 please send all of the following:

• (2) copies of your latest recording
• Press Kit with bio, photo, and press
• Contact info of one 1 person who handles your band's business
• Check or Money order for $15.00 US payable to "Dirt Fest"
DIRT FEST
P.O. Box 87
Frankenmuth, MI 48734

Why do I have to submit?
We get far too many requests each year from bands urging us to check out their band. As much as we'd love to review every band that comes our way, we simply cannot keep up.

Why is there a fee?
Giving a fair review of an artist's material takes at least 15-30 minutes per band (listening to album tracks, visiting websites, myspaces, facebooks, what-have-you). Hundreds of bands submit each year. Every submission is carefully reviewed. Consider an average of 250 bands at 20 minutes a piece. That's close to 85 solid hours of nothing but checking out bands. The fee covers things like our Submission Staff's time and postage related to subsequent correspondence.

Our band doesn't have a press kit. Is that absolutely necessary?
Yes. Keep in mind a press kit is essentially your band's resume or "First Impression" to any promoter. A professional press kit (including photos, biography, album, links to websites) allows you to present any information you'd like and put that right in front of the person who will decide whether or not they'd like to work with you. The more effort put into a press kit, the better the impression you leave. It's a testament to how seriously you take your band, and how strong your work ethic is. Not to mention the fact that once you assemble your press kit to meet our requirements, you'll have that for use when booking any other show. In other words, you kill multiple birds with one stone by getting it out of the way now.

Does submitting guarantee my band a slot on Dirt Fest?
No. There are only so many slots available. Bands are chosen based on a number of factors including presentation of press kit, quality of recording, frequency of performance, label backing, and other things. However, we understand that not everyone has the same resources as someone else. We take many things into consideration and promise to give your band a thorough review and sporting chance. After all, we're here to help bring your band to the next level.

Will my band get paid for playing Dirt Fest?
That is entirely up to you and your commitment level.
