'allo fans!

As all good things come to an end, so have The Knaves. The demise of the Knaves, however, has produced TWO offspring: my solo project as Kevin Black, and the rest of the boys as Primaries. I would like to thank everyone for their support over the wild ride we had the past year, and we know you will enjoy our new endeavors.

You can find our new material and updates at:

We made a valiant effort to make our date at Canadian Music Week, but the Storm God said otherwise.  We drove for 3 hours through Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge, passing stranded cars, ditched snow plows, and skiers, but once we saw the Arctic Wasteland that was The 401, we decided our deaths were imminent, and that we should turn around.  We apologize to anyone who was as excited as us about the show.  We are now drowning our sorrows in amounts of beers, and working out a new song to document the snowy misfortune.

Drive safe.

For all of those who may be wondering if the nefarious DEMO is the only recorded Knaves material you'll ever hear: we are still cheerily visiting Andy Magoffin's House of Miracles recording studio on regular occasions to create a new album of Knavery for you to do naughty deeds to.  The process is going casually, possibly due to the massive amounts of beer and ideas floating around, but we are wrestling with plug-ins, amplifiers, taxidermy, and each other, to make sure the new songs sound as great as ever.   We promise: the wait, and all the new grey hairs in Andy's beard, will be worth it.

Well.  All of us here at The Knaves base of operations have had a spring to our step of late.  We have been nominated for the Most Popular Rock Group category of the London Music Awards.  We would simply love it if all of you who were kind enough to lend support by requesting our songs on CHRW throughout the year lent us a vote as well.

Should you wish to support our Knavish sonic revolution, you can vote here:

If you haven't a revolutionary spirit, well, you can still vote.

luv,

The inaugural issue of Zephyr Suburbis Art & Culture magazine contains a great 5-page article on us, with an interview and photos.

It also contains lots of other cool stuff from this year's LOLA festival, and more.

You can download and read the PDF here... http://zephyrmag.ca/issues.html

Today we received early notice of our selection to play a showcase at CMW 2008. The really nice surprise is that we've also been chosen to be this week's "Artist Spotlight" on their webpage. Check it out at http://cmw.net.

The festival takes place from March 5-8, 2008. We don't know the rest of the details yet, but as soon as we do, we'll post them on our show listings.

This year's LOLA Festival was a huge success, and we were very proud to be a part of it. The festival also featured performances from The Constantines, Grizzly Bear, Final Fantasy, Holy Fuck, and many other artists; as well as the Canadian debut of Brian Eno's art exhibit, '77 Million Paintings', which was great!

Also, as a result of the festival, we gained a ton of national exposure by way of CBC Radio 3's LOLA Podcast. And, we just noticed today that we're one of the featured artists on the New Music Canada section of the CBC Radio 3 website, which is really cool.

If you live in Toronto, be sure to come see us live on October 20th at The Horseshoe, when we play with My Shaky Jane for their album release party. And, if you're in London, catch us on October 26th at the APK when we open for Bella. We'll be playing a bunch of new songs at both of those shows.

So, our first tour went really well.  We partied a lot, made a lot of friends, and learned a lot too.  Thanks to everyone who made it out to see us!  And if you missed our show in your city, don't worry - we'll be back out on the road very soon.

Here's a list of the places we played, and the great bands with whom we shared the stage...

August 10 - Peterborough, ON - The Spill
w/ Hungry Lake

August 11 - Montreal, QC - Quai Des Brumes
w/ Intensive Care, Les Gens Regardent

August 13 - Ottawa, ON - Zaphod Beeblebrox
w/ The Murder Plans, No Please After You's

August 14 - Toronto, ON - The Horseshoe Tavern

August 15 - Kitchener, ON - The Boathouse
w/ The Cracker Cats

August 16 - London, ON - Call The Office
w/ The Stolen Minks, The Guest Bedroom, Katie Stelmanis

We're going to head back into the studio in about a month or so to record some new songs.  In the meantime, you can download our demo from http://bandofknaves.com, and some remixes from http://myspace.com/knavesremix

Thanks again for your continued support.  We all appreciate it very much!

Two remixes of our song White Cars are finished and on our MySpace remix page (http://myspace.com/knavesremix).

They were done by a couple of good friends of ours, and we're really happy with them. Check them out, and let us know what you think.

We're going to be putting together an EP that includes the original version of White Cars along with both remixes. It will be available at our shows starting in August.
