The National Folk Alliance Conference is coming up for this weekend. Our big showcase is at 11:00 on Saturday night. There are a few smaller things will be doing around the Memphis area previous to that.

We're back from our triumph in Chile, at the Semanas Musicales, international music festival, Frutillar. Surely it is one of THE most beautiful places in all of South America. I've got some pics up in myspace. Rather than play the Teatro del Lago, we performed in the Sala de Conciertos. It is much larger and the original performance space for Semanas Musicales in Frutillar. We had a lot of younger Chilean attending, and that's a good thing. The festival just keeps on expanding. That concert was videoed and should soon appears as youtube clips. The concert hall in Vina del Mar was great, I just wish we had been able to have more time connecting with local musician. We did jam with a look digeridoo player, of all things. Next time we'll need to Skype some players there, before we arrive and set up some jams in public parks, etc. The apperance in Algarrobo was before a very enthusiatice older crowd ...kind of ironic, because it was in a discotheque. That was tied into encourgaging maintaining the wetlands ...a good thing! Hopefull what comes of all this is future performance tours sponsored by the U.S. State Department.

We´ve just been contacted by the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, asking if we would be able to perform another show in Santiago. We won´t have our flight changed. We´ll still be returning on Feb. 5. So, my response was ....the more the merrier. I love to have some promoter from next door, Argentina, see us and arrange our return. I´d be able to put more of the Spanish I´ve been studying to use. In Frutillar, Chile, I have to wonder if speaking some German might come in handy. It is much like a little German village. The Chilean had encourage Germans to live there and take up work a foresters. There is a little German museum in Frutillar. Actually, according to Isabel Allende, there is a certain amount of pride Chileans take in the amount of European influence on their culture. I´ve heard the same about Argentinians, and even more so.

Heading to Santiago, Chile on the 28th is rapidly approaching. The Alexandria Kleztet will perform at the American Embassy there, and ´Semanas Musicales¨de Frutillar, the international music festival in Frutillar. The Osorno area, the lake district, with its many volcano, looks spectacular. Check out pictures of the Teatro del Lago concert hall, as it was being constructed. ,http://www.teatrodellago.cl/portal/english/index.php?seccion=galeria
