so a lot of songs/ideas have been pacing in my head as of late.  i'm trying to record as many as i can.  this selection i'm trying a gregorian chant type feel.  the tunes may sound the same to some, but not to me.  actual words are also being sung, but i was covering my mouth while singing.

Can You Wake Now // i liked this guitar "riff" a lot, it actually started off with something slightly different, but i then forgot it, however i'm content with this.

Take Me Somewhere New // the guitar is slightly sloppy on this one, my hand/fingers were getting tired.  oh well.

What Are Your Thoughts On Us // eh, i don't really know what to say besides this one was done at 2 in the morning and it has a 3 part harmony, where the others only have 2.

* 1-3 more coming soon.

Out Of Control // this song started out just as an acoustic number, but evolved into this.  was diggin’ it at first, but then wasn’t.  a little sloppy, but oh well, i think it fits the title.

Coming Clean // this song started off sounding a little Ryan Adams-ish, but ended up a little bluesy.

* 2 more coming soon.

Inside On The Outside // this is a brand new clarinet layered tune with some background noise.  not much else to say.

Take A Step // gotta love the ebow, especially with some delay, and some background coughs.

Nothing Is For Real // this one started out just with the ending guitar part.  the rest came about in time.

No You Won't // this one has a slight high pitched background noise that i could not figure out where it was coming from, but to be honest, i think it fits quite nicely.

I'm not a big fan of doing covers, or at least most songs that people want to hear.  So I've have decided to attempt some older tunes that I like.  A friend has made a few requests, so we'll see if those will happen.

Lonesome Town (Ricky Nelson Cover) // i was on a big ricky nelson kick about year ago and just new this song had to be done, however i never got around to it until today after noticing the other day that m. ward and zooey deschanel performed it a week ago here.  anyways, i did a few takes of this jam and keep finding small mistakes in each one.  so i just stuck with this one.

*3-4 more eventually coming

So I have made a goal for myself to write/record at least 1 new song a week and post it over on my music blog, Count Me Out.  Unfortunately I am just going with the months as titles, so basically just like Bishop Allen's project 2 years ago.  I'm not necessarily trying to copy them, I just like recording new songs and sharing them with you, with hopes you may enjoy 1 or 2 of them.  So yeah, the journey has begun.

Now Or Never // while recording this song, i decided that i was time to put out a new record and that this song will be on that new record.

We Wish We Knew // i just got a mandolin the other day and quickly put this song together.  orginally it was a lot slower and i got bored with it.  so the next day i came back and made it faster/shorter.

Never Gonna Change // i really like the guitar part for this song, but something is missing.  i was originally stuck with lyrics and still feel they aren't right.  and i personally like the demo version before this take although i was adding lyrics while recording.  anyways, i'll probably eventually fine tune this one.

Everyone Is The Same // this tune started off with the electric/main guitar part and a whole mess for the backing was planned/recorded, but slightly changed after i added the drum part.  i like it, but think it still needs a little more work.

Less Is More // an instrumental jam that has been around for awhile and i finally got around to recording it.  some effects and mouth trumpet were added.

See You When I See You // this song came about while working on a different song.  i know, another instrumental, but i like instrumentals.  the drumming in the background is sticks on a cow bell with a delay while the background noise is a music box in reverse with some delays and other effects.

*2 more on the way.

Watch Out (For This) //  a new jam featuring kalimba and some simple, kind of sloppy drumming.  oh well.  it was my first go at adding some drums, i'm still experimenting/perfecting.

Looks Like You're Moving On, I Should Do The Same //  another new one.  the initial idea was composed the other night, but was soon forgotten.  this came about tonight.  i thought of some lyrics, but then ran into some trouble.  in the end then stuck with my gut and found a way.  the drums are a little sloppy, but it was late and didn't want to continue disturbing those who were asleep, maybe i'll come back and redo them.

What Are You Waiting For // this song came about as the intro and then the rest was put together today.  i am happy with the way it turned out, however the song for some reason songs a little different when i transfered it from the recording computer to my laptop.  who knows.  also i tried a stereo version this time with the back vocals on separate sides.  (the problem with this song has been fixed)

Will You Come Back In The Morning // this was put together an hour before it was recorded today (12.20.07).  pretty short and simple, but i like it.

I Am What I Am // to be honest, i thought of these lyrics will mowing the grass today.  i started it with a dualing guitar intro, then a glock intro, but then tried a different guitar part and liked it the best.  i also some noise at the end.

Where Will I End Up //  i was messing around with the crappy keyboard i have, which i wouldn't even really considered to be a keyboard, but yeah, i came up with this and used some lyrics that i had down in my book.  i actually was hoping to go elsewhere with this one, but this is what came out.  i guess i'll just have to write another one.

Today Has Gone //  well i sat down at the piano today and came up with a little something, then added some guitar and vocals.  this is what came out.  i added some kazoo and mouth horns.

Do Yourself A Favor //  this came about while working on the previous song, but was finished after.  basically just a erie, radioheadish song that should be in some horror movie or something.

Please Do [EP]

Please Be Something Else // wow let's see this was done awhile ago and i'm just finally writing a blog about it.  i intended to add more songs to this, but my computer died and the my record program isn't compatible with the new computer i bought.  luckily i finally got around to hooking up an old computer that was in my garage and things are back up and running.  this song is basically about death.  i was and somewhat still am in a "death phase."  it just such a crazy subject to think about in great depth.  basically just some banjo, vocals, and reverb.

Do You See // i believe i actually came up with the idea of this song while in the shower (hot i know).  so yeah i took a quick one and then recorded it while it was still fresh in my head.  nothing too special.

When You're Looking At Me [EP]

When You're Looking At Me // first off, i just listened to this song for like the 10th and I was hearing something completely different.  i get that every so often and it's quite weird.  like there is a hidden song within a song.  anyways, the idea of this song was written a few months ago.  never really completed until now because of the whole computer/recording crisis.  it's still in it's rough stages, but luckily now i can study it and decide on any changes.  basically it is a live recording of classical guitar/vox, with another track of musical saw.

Would That Be Alright //  this too is a song that was intially written awhile ago (mayish).  i am a big fan of fold your eyes darling aka andrew kettering and i wanted to have a song with some "... your eyes darling" and this is what i came up with.  this was also my first attempt of adding some lap steel.  it's not great, but will do.

You Told Me So //  this came together somewhat recently and was completed today.  i originally was going for an "i told you so," but this is how it ended up.  it's pretty brief and i was going for a damien jurado kind of feel with the megaphone vocals on one side and reverbed vocals on the other.  also in the background there is some am radio station surfing going on.

I Would If I Could //  so for some reason i've been asked to play in 2 weddings recently and i thought this would be somewhat of an interesting tune.  kind of explosions-ish.

Why Can't You Just Go //  i wrote this one a few days ago.  originally had a backing guitar melody, but decided to switch it to piano.  it didn't quite turn out the way i hoped, but i added a second piano part and am content with it.

Perhaps You're Perfect //  another instrumental tune.  i came up with this a week or so ago and added some glock to it today while recording.  it turned out a little sloppy in some parts, but i didn't feel like fixing it.

Tomorrow Is Today //  finished this one up today.  it's a little sloppy, again didn't really feel like fixing it.  something's wrong with me, i don't know.  added some backing vocals with reverb, what's new.
