After a long long wait,
the songs that made you fall in love with TEENAGE COOL KIDS are finally available on vinyl!!
We are now taking pre-orders for this record, and most of the vinyl and covers are already in, so the wait will not be very long :)

The original recording for "Queer Salutations" was re-mastered specially for vinyl by Josh Boanti, and comes packaged in full color
covers along with a full color insert.

We are also offering 2 colors of vinyl:

*First is ORANGE and there will only be about 160 copies of this color available from the label. Pre-orders will have priority on these.

*The second color is ICE BLUE and there will be about 250-300 copies of this available.

About 100 of the first pre-orders will also receive a free poster and button with their order!!!

We are slo offering package deals that include both colors of vinyl, and that offer both of the bands records together for a low price :)

Hello everyone -

Just wanted to give you all a heads up about what's going on with Protagonist Music
in the near future...and we've got a lot to be excited about!

SUIS LA LUNE / OSCEOLA split 7"
Pre-orders for the record will be posted on our website, webstore and Myspace sometime in the next week. There will be limited clear vinyl (less than 50 copies) available for the first folks who order, the rest are on black. This project has been in the works for a long time, but the wait has been very worthwhile - 2 raging tunes from Osceola and one epic event from Suis La Lune.

ALGERNON CADWALLADER "Fun" 7" w/bonus CD
This record, formerly known as Hot Green, will be going up fro pre-orders sometime in the next few weeks as well. The vinyl is at the plant as we speak, and hopefully we will have some tests soon. Look out for AlgCad on tour in Europe with Teenage Cool Kids in October, and at The Fest in Florida too!

TEENAGE COOL KIDS "Queer Salutations" LP
Finally coming to the vinyl format as so many people have been asking for! We will have this in the hands of the band for their European tour in October. Copies will become available around that same time here in the USA, and a pre-order will go up for limited orange vinyl (less than 200 copies) for those who are quick. Catch the band on tour all over the USA this month and next, as well as Europe with AlgCad and The Fest too!

More good stuff coming later this year and into 2010 from Black Kites, Fergus & Geronimo, Zann, Vague Taste, Absinthe, and more!

Thanks for all your support folks, we (and the bands) truly appreciate it :)

Hello people, just a few bits of news from us....

The SUIS LA LUNE/OSCEOLA split 7" has finally gone off to press, so get stoked for that one!   We are hoping it might be out by the veryt end of May or early June.  There will be a small amount of colored vinyl only available on pre-order or from the bands directly, so keep an eye out for more news on orders in the next few weeks.

ZANN are finishing the songs for their new 7" as we speak, and we hope to have that out by August, in time for their Eurpoean tour with Mouthbreather.  If you can help with shows, please contact one of the bands.

We put up a new song from ALGERNON CADWALLADER which will be featured on the "Hot Green" 7" with Bonus CD due out on Protagonist in June.  Check it out in our music player!!  And check them out playing shows in the US and Europe this summer too!

The TEENAGE C**L K**S "Foreign Lands" 180gm LP has run into several pressing delays, but we are on our way togetting those figured out.  They are also mucking their way through a legal suit regarding their name, but we expect resolution on that in mid-May according to the lawyers.  As soon as that gets straightened out, we will be getting the awesome new record into everone's hands.  Thanks to all of you for supporting the band and label during this unfortunate situation!!

ADORNO are doing a new 7" on Pure Pain Sugar which should be out pretty soon.  The songs are fantastic, taking on more melody and maturity.  Should be excellent, so look for that this summer!

TOWERS has a new LP/CD out called "Full Circle" and as expected, it's a fuckin rager!!  Get it directly form the band or Init Records.  Seriously, it's ridiculous.

Ok kids, that's all for now.  More updates soon!!
Thanks again for your continued support.
Cheers,
Brendan & Bill

Just in time for your sweetheart!

We are super stoked to announce that pre-orders are now up
for the new Teenage Cool Kids “Foreign Lands” 180gm LP
(with digital download) on Protagonist….yes!!

Get ready for 12 new jams from your favorite band to sing
along with here! Taking their early sound which had nods to
such bands as Meneguar, early Built To Spill, and Dinosaur Jr,
and now moving ahead in self-identity and maturity, this record will definitely grab you. It’s everything you’ve grown to love about
TCK, and a little something new for the band to keep building on. We guarantee you will have these tracks stuck in your head within the first few listens!

This recording was engineered and mixed by TCK along with
Jason Kelly of The Wax Museums, and mastered for vinyl by Josh
Bonati. No cheap shit. It comes on heavyweight 180gram vinyl
for all you geeks…and the color vinyl is a special “color-light” upgrade, so both versions are audiophile quality! It’s available
on either Blue or Black wax. Damn skippy! And this bad boy has full color heavy stock covers featuring enchanting artwork by Andrew Savage, with full color printed inner-sleeves too. And every record
comes with a free digital download as well. Hell yes! We aint fuckin around here!

You can hear a track from this record, and/or order it here:
Protagonist Myspace

Or check it out on our (still in progress) website here:
Protagonist

We are offering a special package deal if you want to geek out
and buy both colors, so look for that option in our store! You
get a little discount if you order both!! And you will be able to
win our test-press give away if you do…read on for more info…

Later this year, there will be a separate European version, with alternate artwork. It will be released by Narshardaa, and should be out in time for the KIDS European tour. We encourage you to check out versions from both labels, no matter where you live!

So, in honor of our 2 Year Anniversary as a label, and to thank
all of you who have supported us along the way, we are having a
small sale and give-away too!
Until the end of February, if you order the “package deal” with both colors of the new TCK LP, you will automatically be entered into a random drawing for one of 7 prizes! Those prizes are 5 test-presses of the TCK 7” and 2 test-presses of the TCK LP. Awesome, right??!! And during the month of February, when you order the new TCK LP, you can
add any other item in our store to your order for only $5.00!
Just look for the option “February Special” in our store. The sale for $5 is only good in the USA though, sorry… But everyone is eligible for the test-press give-aways!! So order up!

**We expect the records to begin shipping in mid to late March, so
keep that in mind. If you order extra items along with your
Teenage Cool Kids LP pre-order, they will all ship together – notright away.**

Ok folks, that’s a whole bunch of blabbering…hehe. We really
hope you will check out this record, and we really appreciate all
the support we have received in the last 2 years of doing this! Be on the lookout for our upcoming releases with: Suis La Lune, In First Person, Algernon Cadwallader, Osceola, Zann, and Absinthe.

Get stoked! We are!
Thanks,
Brendan and Bill

Thanks,

Hello folks -

We are super stoked about what we've done so far in 2008, and there's more to come into 2009 as well! The ...Who Calls So Loud 12"EP has been very well received, and we are very nearly sold out of the In First Person/Storm the Bastille split LP. Teenage Cool Kids "Queer Salutations" CD has gotten some fantastic reviews this year, and they continue to turn heads as people hear it or see their fantastic live show. If you haven't checked out these great releases, it's time to catch up!

Coming this fall, we are excited to be working with Portugal's own Adorno. A limited edition CD of their vinyl releases with special packaging is due out before the end of this year. If you like progressive, melodic hardcore with brains and heart, this is your new favorite band. Trust us.

In early 2009, Teenage Cool Kids will release their new LP entitled "Foreign Lands" with us here at Protagonist. The Kids are currently recording demos for the new record, and if you were lucky enough to see them on tour this summer, you probably heard a few of the killer new songs that will be included. We will be doing a multi-color vinyl release with digital download coupon for this record, and we could not be more psyched. Look for them on tour out west this winter, and then in Europe in Fall 2009.

Also in early in the new year, we will be matching up two of the heaviest and most urgent hardcore bands around now. From New Jersey we have In First Person and from Germany, we bring you Zann. These bands will combine for a split 10" release that is likely to crush everything in it's path. Honestly, we may have to press this baby on heavier grade vinyl than normal just so that it will hold up! Look for colored vinyl and killer artwork on this as well.

In January we will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary too, so look for some specials and other assorted nonsense as we thank you for all your support! You guys have been great and we truly appreciate it :)

Stay tuned for more info and look out for all these new releases!
Cheers,
Brendan & Bill

...WHO CALLS SO LOUD
Japan Tour Fall 2008

HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!

Their new 12"EP is still available now from
PROTAGONIST with limited colored vinyl!
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Hey everyone, hope you're having a great summer so far!!

We here at PROTAGONIST have a busy summer planned, and we thought it might be a good time to share some of the things we are going to be involved with...

First of all, we are very proud and excited to announce that we will be releasing a brand new 12" from ... WHO CALLS SO LOUD to be ready during their late summer US tour! This record will feature cover artwork by Daniel Danger and be complimented with some nice colored vinyl. More details on this as the time arrives, but you can expect it to drop in August... The band are currently touring Europe, and then will be covering most of the US in August and September. So if you haven't seen them yet, check out their page for dates and make it happen!

We are also super stoked to be working with ADORNO from Portugal on a new release. This will be a CD collection of their first year of work, including their 1 sided LP and 2 split 7"s all released in the US for the first time! This will be a limited and unique release with some kind of special packaging and artwork, so get stoked. The band are touring parts of Europe later this summer, so be sure to see their page for the dates. No date for the CD is quite set yet, but we hope to see this come together in late summer/early fall.

TEENAGE COOL KIDS just got home from a successful and fun tour of the southern US, and will be embarking on a trek up north in July. There are a few dates that still need attention, so if you can help, please get in touch! This is one band that you don't want to miss this summer... We fully expect PROTAGONIST and TCK to be working together on some sort of new goodness in the future as well.

Ok, that's all for now. More info will be forthcoming including some new regarding what's going with IN FIRST PERSON, STORM THE BASTILLE, TOWERS, and SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA.... And of course, the release and pre-order details for the ...WCSL record. So stay tuned!

And come hang out with us while are cruising around the east coast in mid-July too!!

Cheers - Brendan & Bill (PROTAGONIST)

With quotes like this, you should definitely check out this review..."I've been listening to Through the Hourglass for a week straight and I'm still not sick of it, and I doubt I ever will be. If you want truly emotional music with an enjoyable harshness, get your ears fixed on Pyramids."

TEENAGE COOL KIDS "Queer Salutations"

Reviewed by: Razorcake Magazine 44
"I'm liking this album. It has that raggedy, almost sloppy (but not quite) slacker punk feel like Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted" or Dinosaur Jr's "You're Living All Over Me." Lyrically and musically this is a lot more straight-forward than either of those 2 albums, but it's fun to listen to when in a mellow mood. That's not to say this is a slow and ethereal shoegaze, but this isn't exactly going to satisfy anyones need for a hardcore fix. I especially like the lyrics to "Write Back Soon" and it's great line directed at hipsters: "Hold my Pabst? Kiss my ass. Move to Brooklyn or Vermont." This album is worth picking up, and ironically enough, I think this has enough of an indie rock appeal that hipsters would probably actually dig it." - ADRIAN
