There's a brand new website for the 3tet!  The old one was, well, pretty ugly.  So we took the easy way out and found a nicer looking template and used it.  Thanks to our good friend Becky for making the cool circular image.  Please let us know what you think of the site by email, or on the board.  We'd love to hear from you!

Ok so it's been ages since this page has been updated.  We've been working in Mark Dunn, our fantastic new drummer.  He already feels like a perfect match.  He is as tasteful as they come, and a great cat.

Hi folks.  This coming saturday, the 17th, the 3tet will be playing at a very hip little spot called the Lotus Leaf Cafe.  It's an Asian-French cafe that has  won a number of awards for Best of Citysearch 2005, including Best Pan-Asian, Best Vegetarian. They were also selected by Triangle Live Magazine as one of the top 5 places for gourmet cuisine in Cary. The food there is excellent and the atmosphere is unmatched.

We'll be playing from 6pm to 8pm.  Free admission, as always.

We hope to see you all there.  Also remember that we'll be back at the FlipSide on the 23rd at 9pm.

Hope to see you all soon!

Ok that was an interesting experience... So we showed up at 9am to play the G105 Pigs and Punkins Cook off.  After being directed to move our cars to several different locations, and after watching with apprehension while the previous band, Delorean, played to an audience of four, we loaded our instruments onto a flatbed trailer which had been brought in by a tiny orange tractor.  We played jazz for thirty minutes, while facing a crowd in the bleachers of about a hundred.  They seemed to be ok with it, but I think they were just waiting for the rodeo to start since we were playing a RODEO ARENA.  Yup.  There were even rodeo guys getting their horses ready in the bull pen where our instrument cases were being stored.  Anyway this is a gig we will be telling stories about for years to come. Oh don't worry.  There's pictures

Later that night we played an outdoor private party, for some very warm, friendly people, and had a very nice time.

The 3tet has been voted to be one of the four bands to play at the G105 Pigs and Punkins BBQ Cookoff!  It started with 73 bands who submitted their music.  Then the staff of Bob and the Showgram narrowed that number down to 11.  We were voted from that 11 to be one of the lucky four!  We hope to see you all there! Check the Events page for details.

The 3tet played at Southend Brewery last night, and I gotta say we had a good time.  The amazingly talented Victoria Axelrod got us in touch with Southend, and Kristen graciously facilitated everything once we arrived.  The amazing photographer Laura Tanzini was on hand to snap a few shots, which will be available at this site soon.  The big room made for a nice sound with our trio.  All in all it was a nice night and we look forward to going back.

Cliff from the Flipside wrote this about us for the upcoming gig...

In The FlipSide, 9:00 to 12:00 No Cover...but bring some cash for the TIP BASKET!

Three guys playing jazz with various other musicians. Two get together in another group and the other is playing elsewhere. The three meet up, play a little and discover the magic that ONLY jazz can conjure forth! All the ingredients in just the right proportions producing the most delicious, most incredible, or as Bill and Ted would say, "the most excellent" music! Three incredible jazz musicians! This is NOT B.S. jazz! This is the real thing; smooth, takes you places, sets a groove and keeps you moving!

...Man I hope that's something we can live up to....

This is what the Flipside put on their site to promote us...

These three musicians have taken jazz to a new level! Incredible guitar, bass and drums!!! This is the real deal folks! If you like your jazz...a little funky at times, a little on the edge at times, a little like running your hands over the sensuous smooth curves of a...well...race car, you'll love these guys! Same as above, 9 to 12, No Cover, but they sure deserve your $$$ support!

Hi everybody. The 3tet recently spent a few hours at the wonderful Studio 415 in Clayton, NC. Mr. Paul Barton, engineer extraordinaire, helped us create a 4 song cd (basically a demo). We’re pleased with how it turned out, and hope you enjoy our efforts.

Lulu’s Doll (Paul Bomar)– I wanted this tune to have a small yet quick sound. Seems as though we pulled it off in this session.

Willow Weep for Me (Ann Ronell)– I really like the way this tune turned out. It’s a ballad, but we played it with strength. It has a real dirty, sexy sound to it.

No Greater Love (Billie Holliday) – A fun tune to play, because you can do a lot with it. This rendition is very loose, very sparse.

Friend Named Jen (Guy Percy)– This is what a blues would sound like if a crazy person played it. Heavily Monk influenced. The rhythm ended up going places we had no intention of taking it….
