We're very sorry to report that several artists were unable to perform at the festival Sunday following a severe thunderstorm that rolled through the area. Two festival stages were unable to continue due to standing water issues and the physical inability to get artists to those stages. Our main stage performances of the Mickey Hart Band and Zappa Plays Zappa were canceled because of a roof failure at that stage. It was simply not safe nor prudent to continue under the circumstances. We apologize to everyone for this unfortunate event. We are very happy to announce that Zappa Plays Zappa has agreed to perform at Wakarusa 2009. Although we are truly sorry for the cancellations we had no control over the storms nor the other events that lead to artist cancellations. On a much brighter note - the staff and crew rallied like the stars they are after the storms and the show did go on at the Revival tent. David Grisman, Avett Brothers and Split Lip Rayfield gave spectacular performances and closed out the festival to a very hardy and robust crowd. Thank you for your understanding and we'll see you again next year!

Jason Arsee of Omaha, NE was the winner of our MySpace VIP Web Banner contest.  His entry was chosen from a spreadsheet of all eligible profiles using a random number generator at random.org.  Jason will receive a pair of VIP tickets and will be treated to amenities that include front row viewing areas, food and snack service, and of course FREE NEW BELGIUM BEER!

Congratulations to Jason and thank you to everyone who entered the contest.   We will definitely do it again next year.  Take care and we hope to see you here in about a week!

All the best,

Thanks for all the entries everyone!  It is very exciting to see so much enthusiam for the contest.  You may have noticed that the Wakarusa 2008 radio spot has disappeared from our profile and yours as well.  This is due to technical difficulties and the mp3 is no longer a requirement to win the tickets.  As long as you have a web banner up on your site and you have sent us a message you are registered to win.

The winner will be chosen shortly after the contest deadline (May 23rd) so be sure to leave the banners up until then (because if your profile is drawn as the winner and you don't have one up, we'll have to move on to someone else.)

Thanks for supporting Wakarusa and we'll see you in June!

Howdy Folks!

We are giving away a pair of VIP tickets to one lucky winner in our MySpace online promotion contest!  All you have to do is add the Wakarusa 2008 web banners to somewhere on your profile. Then just send us a message telling us about it and you're registered to win a pair of VIP tickets to Wakarusa 2008!  VIP is a great way to experience Wakarusa with catered meals, special up front viewing areas, VIP camping and backstage lounges, snack service and of course New Belgium beer all day long!

You can get a web banner directly from the generator on our MySpace, or at the website below, and the mp3 can be added to your profile directly from the music player on our MySpace (just click "add").  Thanks and don't forget to send a note to let us know that you want to be entered in the contest!

Thanks and we'll see everyone soon!

The Wakarusa Music Festival and Conscious Alliance are proud to announce our 4th Annual Food Drive to benefit the Ballard Center of Lawrence, KS. Last year's drive brought in nearly 3,000 pounds of food donations. This year with your help, we hope to pull in at least 5,000 pounds! All patrons that donate 10 non-perishable food items will receive a free, limited–edition poster by artist, Table2Press. All food donations will be collected at the Conscious Alliance "Art That Feeds" Gallery, which will be depicted on the Wakarusa Festival guide. "Organic" food donations are especially encouraged. RAMEN NOODLES will NOT be accepted for the free poster. Thank you for your continued support in feeding the hungry everywhere the music plays!
