Thought we'd take the opportunity to post a couple of different tunes here.  Both off the (relatively) new September Songs CD.

Basically, this for our new friends who are just hearing some of this...   Unfortunately, we can only post 4.  Enjoy...

Blue Cartoon is on a temporary hiatus in order to allow the members to spread their wings a bit.

  • Jeff just released his solo CD "Moments in Time" (check it out from his page).
  • Lee and David are about to wrap on their spin off project, "The Spandrels".  Looks like a late summer release for that one.  Samples can be found at Lee's page, as the page for "The Spandrels" is still in construction.

Both efforts are major departures from the Blue Cartoon mold these two talented composers lovingly forged over the years, but the material is unmistakeable in it's hues of true blue.

Another glowing review of September Songs.  After 2 years, they're few and far between now.  Still,  it's always is nice to get them anyway...  Just to show that all our hard work wasn't for naught.

"September Songs, the fourth album from L.A.'s best-kept secret,
navigates the middle ground between '70s-style country rock and slightly
retro power pop...An assured delivery and familiar feel make Blue
Cartoon's September Songs an album that sounds fine any time."

    NOTE:
While we're literally nowhere near-LA's best kept secret, it sure was
nice of them to notice our efforts.

The general consensus is...our California roots led them to believe that
we may have been literally from Laurel Canyon. Talk about being
convincing in your role. So, if you take that into consideration as well
as the "Poco, Pure Prairie League and even the Eagles" reference...well,
    we're pretty pleased.

September Songs has only been out now for about 6 months and we're already itching to start the next one.  We had a meeting in late spring '07 and decided as a a group that life is just too short to be releasing an album every 3 years.  Besides, there are so many songs (and we keep writing more on a daily basis, it seems) to just leave them all in demo state.  In fact, for the September Songs sessions we tracked like 22 songs.  There were more, but thats all we decided to run with at the time.  This was probably the leading factor in dragging out the release of S.S....we had too many songs to choose from.  So, we're gonna try and do it differently this time.  We're gonna go with our best 12-14 and knock them out.  We may even have it out by the beginning of '08!  I don't know if it's news....but it'll be something new!
