MICHAEL on Primetime

Michael is the next contestant on the newest reality TV series "REALITY", a show that takes young, good looking but incredibly troubled men out of their natural environment and forces them to face the realities of their existence. With the help of mom, a significant other, a scientific genius, a commercial about depression, a detective and 10 other people, Michael discovers there's more to life than eat, sleep, poop, mate and die.

TheatreOne presents their ongoing series of Emerging Voices, featuring a full length play, Good House-keeping written by Nicolle Nattrass.

Come out on Tuesday evening, March 24th to hear an informal, public reading of Good House-keeping.

"Beatrice enters a contest from Good House-keeping Magazine for a weekend spa retreat, in the hopes of spending quality time with her mother. Luckily, she wins, but mother and daughter find themselves sharing a room at the retreat which is a little too close for comfort, and is soon magnified when an unexpected guest arrives for the weekend as well."

Both comedic and dramatic, this play portrays a unique and quirky mother and daughter relationship while examining themes of loss, connection and hope.

~Solo Show Weekend Intensive~

Everything you want to know about performing and writing a one person show...

 

This intensive weekend workshop will provide the essentials of what it takes to create, perform and produce a one person show. The workshop will explore the fundamental elements of a solo show, structure and theory as well as providing practical writing exercises to generate material, to build stakes in your writing and create dynamic characters. We will explore writing exercises, improvisation, the business of solo shows and tips for marketing and production. It is not necessary to have anything written to attend, the workshop is designed for you to generate material, just bring your ideas, pen and paper!

Dates: 10-6 pm-Sat. March 7/2009- 10- 4pm-Sun. March 8/2009.

Level 2~ Solo Show~

Writing solo can be challenging which is why the Level II workshop will give you a re-charge, help solidify your solo show and bring you closer to your goal of completion.
 
The Level II workshop will provide a safe, supportive working environment which will involve sharing your material in a group and/or working in partners, receiving feedback and direction in order to help shape, expand and clarify your material. Review of the essential elements of a solo show will be reviewed but the focus will be on what you as writer/actor bring to the workshop. 
 
Wear comfortable, warm clothing, bring snacks (as we may only have half an hour to 45 minutes for lunch) and come prepared to work!

To participate:

* must have completed Level 1 Solo Show Workshop

* must have generated written material & submit short synopsis and monologue

My play, Good House-keeping will be read on Sunday Sept. 28/2008 2pm-4pm at The Beaumont Studios, Vancouver BC.

Good House-keeping is a full length play which follows the journey of a mother and daughter who win a contest to spend a spa weekend together, courtesy of Good housekeeping magazine. This is my first full length play which was written with the dramaturgical support of Vancouver playwright, Elizabeth Dancoes in 2000.The play was commissioned through the Playwrights Theatre Centre in Vancouver and received a professional reading/workshop.

This event is not a public reading~ it is a developmental workshop/reading~
