64 days til college football kicks off.  Patience is a virtue, right?

We played at Joe's Place in Greenwood, MS this past Saturday night with our brothers in Inner 61.  Boy did we get an experience from this one.  Haha.

Let me preface this by saying that Caleb, the guy that handles some of our booking, worked out the details for us on this show.  He always double checks details for shows, like payment, if the club has a PA or if we need to provide one, etc.  Well, he was told that the club had a PA.  So, we get to the venue, go inside and start scoping out the place.  Look for the inputs, monitors, size of the stage, etc, to figure out where to setup, how to setup, etc.  Sure enough, there's a PA setup, but we notice there's a few things missing.  The club owner comes over and starts talking to us.

"We've got a PA, but we don't have any microphones or cables, and we don't have a sound guy or a door guy, so I hope you brought all that with you."

Huh?

"Oh yeah, and we've got two monitors onstage there, but they're both busted."

Oh my God.

Well, after the initial shock, we sat outside, drank a few beers with the boys from Inner 61, and started to laugh about the whole thing.  We scrounged up what mics we had (one vocal mic and a couple of drum mics for the kick and overhead) and definitely made the best of what looked like a bad situation.  We and the other boys consolidated gear and fit everything onto the smaller stage, and set it up where we wouldn't need to do a set change.  We just played on each others gear.  Haha.

Drank a few too many beers, and made it out to be one helluva night.  :-)  Definitely an experience we won't soon forget.  Haha.

We wanna go ahead and say thanks to Inner 61 for being so chill and for being awesome, thanks to Joe, the owner of the club, for being so nice and helping us figure everything out, and for hooking us up with beers throughout the night, and thanks to our best friend and touring buddy, Matt McClain, for being so flexible and doing whatever we needed that night.  Matt helped unload and re-load the gear, worked the door for us, shot some video, and worked merch for us.  The dude's a God-send.

Thanks to everyone that came out that night!  We're getting things hooked up with the radio station there in town, and we'll be back eventually!

So now, we're ready to get back into writing mode.  We've got over 100+ song ideas to sift through and make better, and we've got a whole month without shows to get it done.  Diggit.  Stay tuned...things are about to start kickin!

Man.  We love Tupelo.  Talk about a crazy week.

We started out by coming down a day early and staying with Gary's grandparents.  Fun in the sun, dudes.  Hung out by the pool and enjoyed being away from reality for a little while.  Two 18 packs of miller high life later, and we're ready to head to the venue to load in.

We went ahead and loaded in everything and got our gear setup.  Watched some really cool bands, like our friends in Refuse the Fall and Cleverform, along with two locals in Augie May and Crossing Cain. The show ran a lil long, and in the middle of our last song, the cops came in, turned on all the lights in the venue, and started telling people to leave. This goes back to last September, when we almost got shut down in the middle of a show at Fusion 205 down in Tupelo because the cops said we were too loud.

I'm beginning to notice that this is a trend down in Tupelo.

So, fuck the cops that are trying to ruin our good time. We only had one song left, and we announced that, so let us finish, let the crowd enjoy the rest of the set that they paid the ticket price for, and leave us the fuck alone. Enough about that though. Haha. We did, in fact, have a blast, and we wanna thank Josh and his crew at Dark Light Et for having us back down there.

We'll be back in Tupelo at the Main St Bar and Grill on August 14th with A Broken Method and Fluwid, so that should be a pretty awesome show. Make sure you get your tickets early to that one.

That's all for now. Don't forget we play at Joe's Place in Greenwood, MS this Saturday! It's gonna be one hell of a night!

Whew.  Saturday night in Memphis was absolutely fucking INCREDIBLE!  The crowd was packed, the bands were great, and it hot as balls in the club!  We swear, we were absolutely soaked with sweat, just like the rest of you guys!  We had people drive in from Poplar Bluff, MO, Jackson, MS, Jackson, TN, Tupelo, MS, Jonesboro, AR, and everywhere else!  You guys are all incredible and we can't thank you enough for your support.  Hopefully we'll keep giving you guys something worth coming to see.  :-)

First off, we wanted to say thanks to the Summers, Agent Jane, and Jared from Surrender the Fall for playing with us.  Those guys were all awesome and we'd love to play with any of them again.  If you haven't heard them, go check them out at the following locations:

http://www.myspace.com/agentjanemusic

http://www.myspace.com/surrenderthefall

Next up, a very special thank you to our family in Inner 61.  We haven't gotten to play a show with those guys since Prosevere started up.  We did the last A Life Away show with those guys back in 2006, so this has been in the works for 3 years.  Shaun, Frankie, and the rest of the boys are some of our best friends in the world and we really appreciate them working on this show with us.  We're going to be doing a lot more shows with them in the upcoming months and we are really looking forward to getting to share the road with those guys.  If you haven't heard them...go now.

Also wanted to give a big big big thanks to Mike Glenn and everybody over at the New Daisy Theatre for helping us do the show the right way.  We really appreciate everything that Mike's done for us.  Special thanks to David and the boys over at the Double Deuce for letting us have our little after party over there, and thanks to Danni, Jarman, and everyone at 98.1 the Max for helping push the show for us.  We appreciate all your kind words about the band on the air.

Now, it's time for Tupelo.  Hope you guys are ready!

We've really gotta get better about keeping you guys updated with everything.  Haha.

We played Bonestock 5 in Poplar Bluff, MO last weekend and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE.  Thank you guys so much for coming out and partying with us.  We've only been to Poplar Bluff once, and that was almost a year ago.  I guess the word spread because there were hundreds and hundreds of you guys out there.  Keep spreading the word and keep requesting us on Z95 the Bone!  You guys are making an impression on the radio station, so let's keep this ball rolling!  We're hoping to come back up there very very soon.

If you listen to 98.1 the Max in Memphis, you may have already heard the ad for our show this Saturday.  Danni has been giving away tickets to the show in the afternoon, and helping spread the word about the show and the band itself.  We really can't wait to play in Memphis again.  It may be our last show here in town for a lil while, so we want to see EVERYBODY out there.  The other bands playing with us are freakin awesome, so get there early, stay late, and then come party with us at the Double Deuce nextdoor when we get finished.  We want everybody over there drinking and partying with us once the New Daisy closes down for the night.

Do us a huge favor - call 98.1 at (901) 535-9898 and start requesting "Harder than Before."  We really need your help to get some spins at this station!

Also, our radio ads have started on Z98 in Tupelo for the show down there next Saturday.  It'll be our first time back to Tupelo since January!  We need all of our Prosevere crew to come out in full force that night!  We're looking forward to seeing everyone down there again.

Got a couple new song ideas we're working on, maybe some new stage gear, some new equipment.  Things are looking good.

Hope you guys are having a great week!  We'll see anybody that can make it out this Saturday at the New Daisy in Memphis!

Hey hey guys!  Been a lil while since we updated the blog, so we'll try and keep it more regular as we go along.

We've been telling you about writing for the new record.  Well, we've narrowed our choices of studios down a little bit, so we'll be letting you know, relatively soon, where we'll be recording this fall / winter.  This will be a full length record with 10 to 12 songs.  We'll be pre-producing quite a few songs over the summer, and we may even go ahead and record one of the new songs to .

Memorial Day weekend was fairly eventful.  Lots of Coors Light, lots of swimming and sun, and lots of cookin out.  Can't get any better than that.  The Prosevere and Sore Eyes crew had one helluva time.

This week we're gonna start flyering like crazy around the city of Memphis for the June 13th show.  If you know of anywhere that would need a poster up in a window or on a lightpole, let us know and we'll make sure we hit it up.

We've got one more weekend of writing, etc, before we spend every weekend in June on the road.  We've got the following dates -

June 6th - Poplar Bluff, MO - Bonestock 5
June 13th - Memphis, TN - New Daisy Theatre
June 20th - Tupelo, MS - Good Time Charlie's
June 27th - Greenwood, MS - Joe's Place

If you're coming out to any of them, or would like to help us promote, please let us know.  We'll make sure you get flyers, etc, to put around town or to hand out at shows, etc.

We'll talk to you guys soon!  Hopefully with even more information!

Wow.

That's all we can say.

It was everything we imagined it would be.  Even in the rain you guys showed up - thousands strong, no less.  The set went EXTREMELY well.  All the staff at the festival were super supportive, and the promoters were great to us as well.  We enjoyed every second of our time at Memphis in May, and hopefully it'll be the beginning to a lot of other big things in the very near future.

For now though, we've got June completely booked, and it looks like July is following suit.  Check out the tour dates on the page and let us know if you're coming out to anything that's already booked.

We'll have more pics and video, etc, from Memphis in May once it's been edited down and everything.  Again, thank you guys for all your support.  You know that we wouldn't be here without your help.  Keep spreading the word and we'll be on the road to see all of you as soon as possible!

The Veer Union - Against the Grain

They're a part of the same management company that we're diggin on right now.  Currently on tour with Hinder and Theory of a Deadman.  Another Canadian band that is going to absolutely strangle rock radio pretty soon.  Their harmonies and hooks are just incredible.  Listen to "Seasons" and "Over Me."

Anberlin - New Surrender

Anberlin has been around for a while, but this is their major label debut, and I'm diggin the hell out of it.  Still not as much as the first disc, but this one's growing on me.  The single was actually on their 2nd cd for Tooth & Nail / Solidstate - "Feel Good Drag."  Check it out.

Chevelle - This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In

Count me as REALLY DAMN EXCITED about their new disc coming out soon.  They're great at writing heavy hooks, and there's just something so different about what they're doing.  It's awesome.  This is my favorite album of theirs.

We went to Tuscaloosa this past weekend and had an absolute BLAST!

Left on Friday night and had beers with our tour manager, Caleb, in Tupelo before we got back to where we were staying for the night.  Capped off the evening with some wonderful Jim Beam and Diet Coke.  Woke up on Saturday and found our way down to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama football A-Day game.  Ate some hot wings from Willy T's, drank more beam and coke, and spent the afternoon in traffic on the way to the University Mall.

We ate at Dreamland BBQ (DreamlandBBQ.com) and actually sold a cd to one of the cooks.  He took a sticker and put it right next to the door when you're walking out, so you can't miss is.    Tell Raymond Prosevere said "Hi" if you go in there!

Next up, we chilled at the hotel for a lil while, watched some of the Portland/Houston game, then headed to Rhythm n Brews to see our friends in Lynam.  They kicked some serious ass...that crowd was all about them.  We get to hang out with them again tomorrow night at Rhodes College.  Very good dudes.  Tits and beer and great tunes, and all of this in a college football town.  It was incredible.

Sunday we drove back and then hung out with the guys from Kavatica and Between Hope and Faith.  Good times again.

This weekend looks to be more of the same - promotion and practice, then Inner 61, Tonic, and the Gin Blossoms on Saturday night.  Hell yeah!

Wow.  What a crazy week so far.  Friday we had practice and have one helluva new song written.  Can't wait to play it for you guys at Memphis in May.  It's definitely pretty bad ass.

Saturday, I was able to go catch Death Cab for Cutie at the Orpheum Theatre here in Memphis.  Amazing show.  Those guys, while not our particular style of rock n roll, are amazing entertainers and songwriters.  Show was sold out - 2,300 people.  Outstanding.

Wandered onto Beale Street after the show, after consuming a binge of Jim Beam shots at the car.  We found our way into Dyer's for a burger and fries, then made the trek down the street to the Double Deuce.  Talked to our buddy David for a while.  Gotta love that guy.  He's awesome.  Anyway, got finished with a few beam 'n cokes, and made our way down to the VIP at Club 152.  A few more beam 'n cokes later, and we were ready to jet.  Everybody else in our crew (Sore Eyes & Prosevere) decided to head out, but I found myself heading to the Green Beetle around 4:30am for a last few rounds.  Talk about an awesome idea.

Anyway, Sunday provided a little entertainment.  Spent more time working on the website that I'm sure you don't believe will ever be put up.  We just wanna make sure it's perfect.  Haha.

A few days of writing and promoting, and we're back getting ready for practice again tonight.  We should actually have a video blog ready to go tomorrow.  Here's hoping anyway.

Hope you cats are doing well!

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

I've had this album for quite some time now.  First heard the track "Sequestered in Memphis" on Drake & Zeke here in Memphis, and I've been hooked on the whole cd ever since.  It's like a new age E Street Band.  Really great songwriting here.  Makes you feel something when you listen to it.

Sevendust - s/t

Holy smokes.  Still one of my favorite albums ever.  Even 12 years later.  It's the real deal.  This album turned me on to heavy music (yeah, I'm young) and really kinda turned my life around.  These guys are masters.

The Hunger - Devil Thumbs a Ride

I saw these guys open up for KISS on their 1996 reunion tour in Tupelo, MS.  Friday, September 13th.  Really good songs on here.  I was kinda surprised that they didn't go further than they did.  They had one relatively big single, but it never went further than that.  Still one of my favorite cds.
