Sunday, June 28, 2009
Yo gais, I know I'm late getting to this, but hey, it's better than never at all! TEEHEE.

So, I started my journey making my way to supercon on June 5-7, Unfortunately, I could only go the 6th rather than all 3 days like I would have liked. Previous commitments and practice for a fight show held me back T^T oh well.

For the day (T^T) that I was there, and from what I saw, alot of people had fun at the con, myself included. Myself, I think I judge cons a bit differently than most so my pro's and cons may be different.

Pros: The number of people at this supercon was WAY up. For me, a fun con is having alot of people to do ALOT of stuff with, which, there was ALOT of stuff to do, even though most of the time I was Hijacked by a bleach cosplay group, there was alot to do even for cosplayers.

I also enjoyed the game rooms, they were open so nice planning on the 'intense heat and nasty smell' there! I also liked the fact that the dealers room was so much bigger than before.

Cons: The cons of the con lol.

My biggest issue was the fact that the main events and the dealers room were placed in the same large room, it caused traffic issues through the first row of dealers for those people who stopped to watch main events.

Ontop of that, the rest of the events were placed on the 2nd floor and it was a bit of a trek to get to them and once there, most rooms were not well enough labeled so you had to wander a bit to find.

My other issue was the location, it was in an out-of-the-way area. Not so hard to find for locals, but to anyone from Broward or Palm Beach, it was a trip and half with the mapquest from hell directions. It was quite litterally tucked into a 'right-next-to-the-airport-cornered-by-the-freeway" hotel with insufficent parking. My ride had to circle the parking lot for a good, meh, 5 minutes before we found someone pulling out. But there were people parked in 'no parking zones' and ontop of tree roots if they had the right kind of car.

All-in-all, it was a good convention. I'll be sad to see the anime part leaving behind the supercon name. But glad that it's still sticking around as Broward Anime Fest from now on. Though, I think devoted fans like myself will keep calling it supercon, at least in our own minds.
